Movement cursor flickers when moving, invisible when stationary (RESOLVED)
Crossposted from Technical Support (mods please delete one or the other as you wish):
First play through, everything is fine.
The second time I launch the game and get in to Do Stuff, I quickly notice that the movement cursor is flickering when I move it around. Not a big deal. If I leave the movement cursor stationary, though, it completely disappears.
All other cursors (default, hand, etc.) are fine. Only the rotating arrow cursor exhibits this behavior.
Machine: WinXP SP3 with GeForce 9800 GT
Steps:
- Changed resolutions, no good.
- Toggled full screen/windowed. No effect.
- Messed with other graphics settings (compatibility mode, vsync). Nothin' doin'.
- Quit client.
- Updated video drivers (was one stable release out of date)
- Updated Java
- Machine restart
But I Still had the problem, so:
- Reinstalled the client.
- Set graphics settings to minimum in regedit.
- Uninstalled the client.
- Machine restart.
- Reinstalled the client.
- Set graphics settings to minimum in regedit.
- Downed the Windows Firewall (for fun).
- Messed with graphics settings (vsync, windowed, full screen, compatibility mode, etc.).
And the issue persists.
EDIT 14 April 2011
SOLUTION
My XBox 360 gamepad was plugged in! Unplugging this enables the movement cursor to display properly.
Derrrrrrp!
No change. After the patch and reinstall, the movement cursor is completely invisible. Can't see it at all.
It was barely playable before, and now it isn't at all! Bonkers.

When I move my cursor up to the very top of the screen, my arrow cursor splits in half.
I'm using 1024x768 resolution.
If anybody else can see if this happens when they use that resolution in fullscreen, please do.
I can confirm this bug on Window 7 64 bit, extremely annoying
I just realized: this is occurring because my XBox 360 gamepad was plugged in. The game must have detected this and correctly suppressed the movement cursor.
In any case, unplugging the gamepad resolved the problem. Hope this helps anyone having the same issue.
I'm clearly an idiot. :D
Thanks for the update, naitp. You are now helping others learn from your mistake!
Had two versions of Java - 6 update 6 and 6 update 24. Removed both, restarted, reinstalled latest Java. Problem is worse -- arrow.png cursor is completely invisible now, with the occasional faintest flicker of appearance. (All other cursors are fine.)
Uninstalled client, restarted, reinstalled. Will report if that has fixed it after downtime.
