Greeting Spiral knights forums. My name is Azure-Orbit and what you are reading is my first forum post and first S.K. fan-fiction. This story will be updated irregularly since I write better when I do it for leisure.
I will post the prologue of the story first to get me in the feel of writing. This story will be based of off the game itself, but there will be some real life elements put into play as well (e.g: no respawn within the clockworks). I'm just an amateur writer if you ask about my skills, but I hope you will enjoy reading it all the same.
Now without further ado, enter the "Mysteries of the abyss"

Prologue: Isolation
Darkness, as far as I could see. Only the twinkling of distant stars gifted me with sight. How long have I been in this pod? How long ever since the destruction of The Skylark? We're there still Spiralians alive? Have they found a place to stay or do they remain in these metallic cocoons; forced to spend an eternity within the vacuum of space?
So many questions, and no answers. I don't know how much longer I can survive this ordeal. The loneliness was driving me to the brink of insanity. I would've given anything to see another face, to talk, to smile, to laugh. Nothing else mattered to me.
The power of my pod had run out long ago.
I followed some star charts in the hopes of getting within a living planet's gravitational pull and perhaps start a new life. It was not to be. I had run out of power before I could even see a planet. I couldn't help but think if this was the end. I was wrong again.
Suddenly, a large object had blocked some stars from view. [what is that?] I thought. It had been so long since I saw something like it, that I had forgotten what it was. It had taken months to forget, but only minutes to remember.
It was a planet.
It was a planet that actually looked inhabitable. I could've sung with joy at that moment, but I knew that there was work to do. I had to drive my pod close to the planet, get within it's gravitational pull, and land slowly enough to avoid any fatal accidents. I quickly opened the pod's power unit and attached it to my armor.
My armor was the only thing keeping me alive, but my pod needed power; I would not let this opportunity of escaping the isolation of space slip past me.
I redirected the power of my armor into the pod's main reactor and began the delicate job of driving the pod into the planet's gravity. I was going to land this cocoon, or die trying.

Chapter 1: Landing and hatching
"Energy levels at 90%" The pod computer announced. I was trying to make my way to the planet using the least amount of energy possible. Fortunately the planet was already very close. My only problem now was landing it safely, for I did not know how powerful the gravity of this planet was. Well I was about to find out.
"Energy levels at 85%"
I carefully moved the pod towards the planet; I did not want to go too fast the moment I hit its gravitational range lest I crash too quickly and end up destroying myself and the pod.
"Energy levels at 80%"
Things were going well. I might be able to land this and still have at least 50% of my energy levels. If I could just gauge the strength of this planet's gravity...
*Smash*
An asteroid! My pod has been pushed closer to the planet, closer than I would have liked. I had entered it's gravitational range; at high speed.
I had to think quickly otherwise I was going to die in a fire the moment this thing landed. I activated the emergency landing thrusters to slow down my descent. However, the pull of gravity was too strong. I redirected as much energy as possible to the thrusters; it was the only way I was going to make a landing alive.
"Energy levels at 45%"
How far was I from the surface? If I don't land soon my energy levels will deplete and the situation will become critical.
"Energy levels at 35%"
The thrusters strained under the pressure. My helmet's Heads-Up-Display was starting to go static. I shut it off to allow more power to the pod.
"Energy levels at 25%: WARNING, armor re-charge is recommended"
I could almost see the surface. I just needed a little more time...
"Energy levels at 15%: Comm systems offline, Radar offiline"
Just a little more. I passed the peak of a snow-capped mountain and saw a lush forest below me as my pod continued it's dangerous descent.
"Energy levels 10%: Main engines offline, Life-support systems failing"
I was minutes away from hitting the surface...
"Energy levels 5%: Life-support systems critical"
*Boom*
It was the last sound I heard before I smashed into the pod walls. I was knocked dizzy, but thankfully awake. I was happy at the thought that I had survived the landing; but then I began coughing.
My air filters had gone offline, and I was suffocating.
I hurried to the pod door and tried to open it; it was locked. I continued running out of air as I reached into my pack and pulled out a Punch Gun, loaded it, and aimed it at the door. I was seconds from fainting as I shot the door open and fresh air rushed into the pod's metallic hull. I crawled out of my cocoon and looked around. I had successfully hatched.

Chapter 2: A whole new world
A splitting headache took me over and I fell, kneeling on the grass. The pain from the crash was finally kicking in. I re-activated my HUD and checked the energy reading:
It was at 2%
No wonder I was so tired. After laying in the grass for a few minutes, the headache wore off. I stood up and once again examined my surroundings. I didn't have anything better to do, so I decided to look around and find out what sort of alien planet this was. I walked around slowly and tried to investigate the forest, but I had to remain near the pod. If there were any Spiralians on this planet then the only way they would find me is through my pod. But were there Spiralians here? Another question that I could not answer, for now at least.
As I continued examining the forest I saw what appeared to be four-legged, fur-coated, creatures. They were unlike anything I had seen before. 3 of them ran past me, not minding the crash at all. [That's strange, I thought that they would've taken more notice of an event like this. Could it be a regular thing for them? If so, then there may be Spiralians here] I thought. It was a hopeful idea; Perhaps we could start a new colony on this planet, or better yet, find a way to return to planet Spiral.
As I continued pondering about what I could do if there were Spiralians here, darkness began falling. I decided to spend the night outside next to my pod. The grass would be a lot more comfortable then the pod seat. I tucked my hands behind my head and looked skyward.
I saw the most beautiful sight I had ever seen in my entire life. Millions of stars lit up the vast emptyness of space. I was surprised that I did not notice them with my time inside the pod, but then again I was too occupied with the loneliness to take any notice.
A sight like this was rare on Spiral. The lights of the capital blotted out any view of the stars so you would have to travel far out into uninhabited territory to see the constellations. I could still remember the constellations taught to me when I was a child. Calibur the brave, Flourish the chivalrous, and Brandish the strong. the ancient heroes of planet Spiral. On this planet however, the constellations were completely different.
I could not recognize any pattern in the stars. [Looks like I'll need to be re-educated by a local] I thought jokingly. But wait, was there intelligent life on new world? Perhaps there were; this place certainly seems to have the ability to house intelligent life, and if there were Spiralians here then all the better.
Eventually, I could no longer fight slumber and fell asleep on the starlit landscape. Once I had regained my energy the next day, I would find out as much as I could about this planet. Hopefully, the locals would be friendly. If not, then I always keep my sword handy and my gun loaded.
