Well as we all know christmas is on its way and me and my guild (cosmiccalamity) he been thinking about really cool ideas for a christmas event.
Christmas tree bomb- Acts like sun shards with pierce and some type of freeze
Candycane/lolipop sword-Sword tht deals normal and elemental and also has some type of freeze
Snowball cannon/gun-Pure elemental gun with again some type of freeze
Also would be cool if there was snow in haven with some christmas lights and trees :D
~~~~~BOSSES~~~ ~~
Evil Santa: We the knights must band together to defeat the evil in santa and bring him back to his jolly old self. Gives some type of token (similar to punkinking) that can be used to buy the weapons listed above and maybe a costume. (EX Santa hat,Santa suit.) Santa shoots or hurls boxes of presents at you which break and explode upon impact but some drop these things called orbs of happiness, your objective is to dodge the presents and pick up the orbs then throw them back at santa to make him nice an jolly upon doing this a few times he will stop throwing presents and dissapear dropping some sort of christmas token.
Well thats all feel free to contribute and i hope OOO will see this :D
I just wanna mention, that it
I just wanna mention, that it would be great, if stuff like this would be done in a way that won't offend religious people of whatever religion or people not religious at all.
i cant see how it would offend ANYONE because in the ideas i dont mention any religious things except for christmas which is most commonly looked as a time for gifts and family.
Btw
Santa?
This is Cradle not Earth we are mechanical little knights who are invading clockworks against a war with the gremlins
There's no religion we have the undead rise and imaginary demons rise from abandoned cities who by some chance have resumes
And I'm guessing you're a girl or you're under 10 years of age
Let's add some rainbows and sunshine along with butterflies going about in the distance...
Punkin King is original Santa is not
@Oakgear
You always refer back to your threads when someone has THEIR OWN ideas up, and that's why they put it up. but yes you do have a point on the Evil Santa thing. And that yoou suggested Oakgear is very sexist and oppressive. What you said could be interpreted as "All girls act like 10 year olds and imagine butterflies and rainbows." Think of something else before you put something offensive to any group. Now back to subject...
@ Krazyghost
Can you think of something besides Santa and items that are a bit in the realm of Spiral Knights? Maybe I could suggest something along the "anti-festive" spirit? Or maybe... Punkin King returns... IN DISGUISE!!! That would be funny. If Punkin King were to be the center of all holiday events, it would put a common ground and new story line to these festivities. I don't know, just a suggestion. Put more creativity in this. I would love to hear your ideas.
How about this?
Distilling the nature of Santa into it's most basic form, and then reconstructing it in the Spiral Knight world!
For Example: Santa/Christmas is usually seen as: snow; camp-fire; red and white; overly obese man in red-and-white laughing; the "Ho-Ho-Ho" Laugh; and candy-canes.
Now, how do we turn all/some of these ideas into something which isn't that out of place with the Spiral Knight worl?
Santa's role should be filled
Santa's role should be filled by a devilite, just saying.
I wonder if devilites take any time off, even for holiday...
Anyways, I don't think there's anything religiously offensive about these ideas. Candy canes, the modern notion of Santa Claus, all these things are more commercial constructs than religious. None of us really worship or religiously believe in Santa or presents, they are just little traditions that people follow around the season. I even know some atheists that celebrate Christmas because a lot of it is cultural, traditional, or commercial.
And I'm not going to touch the comments about girls. Sexism is bad, mmkay?
It depends on what OOO makes from your ideas. See, if they add religious symbols of some sorts, some people of other religions could feel offended. So I'm just saying it right now, before this happens. That's all.
Maybe make it snow everywhere and people can put items into gift boxes for others. That wouldn't offend anyone, just saying. It would come in handy for Jews, too, because AFAIK they also have some event during that time of year.
Just remove the religious topic here. People who don't celebrate Halloween still may play the Halloween event, and the same thing with Christmas. People who don't believe in aliens watch Star Wars. End religious topic. It's a game, not a revolution.
Anyways, how about switch out prize boxes in the Clockworks into presents, just for kicks?
That depends
What would the presents contain? And would they require a Silver Key?
Answer to Ghret
@Ghret Maybe the presents contain candy canes with different tastes and you use them as tokens to get cool masks like Santa, Rudolph or an Elf. You do not need a Silver Key to get these presents. You get candy cane tokens in the prize wheel and by doing Santa runs. You do the same things you did for the Punkin King but you put Santa in place of the Punkin King and the minions as elves. When Santa says "Merry Christmas" you get the candy cane tokens right away if not, he says "You get coal", you have to battle him and his elf army. During Christmas time a big Christmas tree is in the middle of town square, lots of Christmas lights and other decorations are hung everywhere and Elves are selling the masks for Christmas in town square.
i think so
@reane i like the idea since it kinda sums up up i tried to say santa acts like punkin king and you get tokes which are used to purchase the wepons and costumes, but then again its true what other people wrote about SK being a different world therefore should have a different holiday idol then santa (i like the devilite idea) also it could be a gremlin.
We're getting off topic.
There is nothing religious about a portly, bearded man in a red suit that spreads joy and cheer via presents to all who are kind and nice.
No baby in a manger, no wise men, no icons whatsoever: No problem.
Why can't we have a Stranger in a red suit that spins a prize wheel for you each day? Why can't we have a red Mecha-Knight who was reprogrammed to seek out the Spiral Knights to deliver tokens and other various goodies during a clockwork run? Why can't someone just suggest an idea any leave it at that, without someone trying to bring political correctness into it?
In my opinion, no particular
In my opinion, no particular religion should be present in ANY game. Yes, I know Christmas has Pagan origins but that doesn't change the fact the modern Christmas is associated with Christianity. And nothing about Hanukkah either. We have to remember that not everybody who plays this game is a christian and it should left at that. It's a tricky thing to do when you want to implement a cultural event in an international game. SO:
Snow, yes.
Bright colorful lights about Haven, yes.
Friendly Ice cubes, yes.
Winter related costumes, YES.
Oh, and candy canes. ;p
My idea
I think we should use my idea because I think it is the best one here out of all of you people! We shouldn't have lock boxes because I don't want to waste energy on the keys.
@Reane Too Christmas cliche-ish, but this is coming from a guy that totally ripped off Punkin King in a suggestion thread. Don't be so prideful and self-centered.
@Spookydemi Pagan Christmas? Dude it's got still "Christ" in the name! BTW this game does not revolve around religion, and neither do these posts, so people stop saying to remove religious aspects because I see no religious touches in any of these suggestions. And Halloween has its own religious attributes too, but it didn't end up that way. Christmas and Halloween have completely been rewritten in today's culture to become "less religious." So if you guys want to remove as much religious thingy outta the way, how about call this event something else, like the Halloween event was called the Dark Harvest Festival? It's still a Christmas event BTW and the name could be completely away from what critics would say religious. Maybe a Frost Fest? The Hibernation? Winter Solstice Celebration? Annual Frostifur Festival? Whatevs.
Any names spark any ideas? (Yes this has gone very off-topic)
Am I the only person who
Am I the only person who would love a serious Winter themed event? Perhaps Vog has come to destroy the Winter celebration, and we must defeat him with the aid of the water sprites. His vog cubs have to be purified to draw his attention, and then we battle the god itself.
A more casual event elsewhere in the Clockworks would be fine, but I just love the idea of a more serious battle. It'd be nice to get some backstory on the world of Almire anyways and the water sprites.
Did you get cooties? I'm guessing your a boy and your 9 years old.
"I just want people to use my idea because no one ever used my idea before and I feel lonely and left out when people don't use my idea."
Wow, that totaly motivates me to listen to you. I liked the part with the run on sentance.
And to all the bridge-dwellers trolling this fourm with either complete or anti religious defenses.
I'm 100% agnostic (Well, 75% agnostic, 25% atheist, not that it matters.), and I still celebrate christmas anyway. It's the worlds greatest excuse to spend money. OOO should love that. We aren't crusading forgien communities with swords or anything (NOT A PVP IDEA!!!). I'm pretty sure no-ones gonna get P-Oed if you create a christmas event, other than defensive activists who don't read more than the title of the paper.
How about this;
Instead of keeping ALL religious cameo apperances out of this, let's toss it all into one big subliminal snowball from hell. I mean- Wait, I mean hell. Whatever. Call it Christhaunakquanzikathiesm day. Happy, or did I leave out trollism?
Religious debate much?
When most of us think of Christmas, we usually don't think of the religious holiday, just more of some red fat guy giving out presents.
I think it should still fit in with the whole "gift-giving" spirit, but with a Clockworks-twist on it.
First and foremost, let's put some freaking gift boxes on the prize wheel.
Tier 1 > Green Gift Box
May contain:
-Crowns (5~10)
-Tree ornament (100%)
-Minerals (Small)
Tier 2 > Blue Gift Box
May contain:
-Crowns (10~15)
-Tree garland (100%)
-Minerals (Medium)
*Small Mist Tank (Extremely rare)
Tier 3 > Red Gift Box
May Contain:
-Crowns (25~50)
-Tree topper (100%)
-Minerals (Large)
*Small Mist Tank (Slightly less rare, still very rare)
Now, about those tree decorations. There will be a large Christmas tree in Haven, right where the fountain would be. There's a small gremlin dressed in an elf suit. Talking to him will bring up a screen, allowing you to hand in the tree decorations; Ornaments, Garlands, and Toppers. Every now and then, when enough decorations are handed in, all players online are given Peppermint Candies based on the number of decorations they handed in.
When the tree is fully decorated, all players get a unique [Insert Christmas-y word] Box. The box may contain:
-Small Mist Tank (Rare)
-Mist Tank (Very rare)
-Peppermint Candies (5~20)
Now, for the Peppermint Candies. They're basically tokens, and you can talk to a mysterious bag (Next to the Elf Gremlin) to trade them in.
Rewards include
-Rare materials
-Holiday-themed costumes
-Special decorations to the tree
-Holiday-themed accessories (Very expensive)
