When did you decide it was time to start charging VAT?
What were the reasons behind it's sudden inclusion?

Not sure I enjoy being treated differently due to where I live.

You didn't even take the time to convert the currency. so you are charging VAT on your own currency.

You've now put me and most likely others in a position where, it's better for us to pay someone else buy the CE and trade it and I am sure you don't need explaining the problems with this.

As I understand it, charging

As I understand it, charging VAT is a requirement for everyone. Second Life does it, Steam does it, GoG does it, hell I'm told Deal Extreme does it. I agree they should do the currency conversion first and then charge, but they can't get around charging the VAT. Blame your government for that issue.

Yeah I understand that Hence

Yeah I understand that
Hence how i worded my questions

The problems I have are the sudden desire to charge VAT and the fact the currency is not converted.

This also means that CE now has a different values. CE purchased in places that charge VAT now have a different value to CE purchase where it does not.

Was this planned all along? is that why there is a spending limit?

Shall I go as far to say your energy pages are now full of false advertising.
It states. for a UK resident.

7500 CE = $19.95 + $3.99 = That's 376 energy crystals per dollar!
7500 / 23.94 = But we are only giving you 313.28 CE per dollar!

OOO doesn't charge VAT, the Government Does

The makers of this game don't charge you the Value-Added Tax (VAT); your government does. If you don't like it, take it up with your representatives. OOO legally has to collect the tax and hand it over to your government. Retailers and content providers do not choose whether or not to collect taxes and they do not get to keep them.

Loving the people not reading

Loving the people not reading the post.

Icee, I am fully aware they have to show they are charging VAT, much like VAT free sales, are not VAT free.

My grudge is completely different.

My Solution

Well, my solution to this whole problem is whatever VAT is getting added give the buyers of Ce from those countries bonus ce for there money.

Like Soltanis Posted here:

7500 CE = $19.95 + $3.99 = That's 376 energy crystals per dollar! - Change amount to 8000 or even 8200 ce per purchase so the customers do get more ce since they are paying a higher price.

Why do this?

Well its basically, helps bring in more customers from countries that do charge VAT, and most importantly those customers wont feel that they are getting ___ (Fill in the blanK) when they buy Ce energy since majority of the other players do not have to pay this surcharge.

So Three rings should absorb a tax that they're being forced to charge? No, just like your local restaurants don't absorb the sales tax when it's hiked. Deal with it. If you want to get around it be my guest but it's not a charge that Thring Rings should absorb.

The change to add VAT was not

The change to add VAT was not one we were aware of ahead of time, it came quite suddenly as a requirement. And clearly it is something we have to comply with.
We understand that those who saw the prices before and now after, may find that change significant. But we do believe players in those countries are also quite familiar with their VAT impact.
As others have mentioned, you'll want to make sure your local representative is aware, if you don't feel you're getting the services that your VAT may be funding.

And you went about

And you went about implementing it in the wrong way.

There was no warning.
You are still charging in Dollars
You have not updated the text to let players know they are getting less for their money.

But they're not getting less

But they're not getting less for their money. They're paying the same dollar value for CE. The additional taxes applied for your country are a separate charge. I agree though that the conversion should be made for Euro values (pounds, francs, etc.) in the software, but you can't complain about them charging the taxes your country requires them to.

>But they're not getting less

>But they're not getting less for their money
well as Poseidon implied, there are people not content with how their money is given to the upper 10% by the governemt in certain areas. They also dont get anything from that. So after all they get less for their money. 3 Rings isn't to blame for that of course.
It's just not covered up by Three Rings by introducing common price points like other companies do.
