I would love to see a function, where you could talk to all friends, like it is possible to talk to everyone in the guild.
/f for a chat to all your friends.
It also helps building a closer relationship, with these people.. it makes it possible to chat in groups, instead of guild only =)
It should be easy. Just copy-paste the Guild code, replace 'Guild' with 'Friends', change the colour from Green to x. And there you go. Instant Friend-channel. However, how about this situation?
Friend 1 uses /f to talk to his only friend, Friend 2.
Friend 2 uses /f to talk to HIS many friends.
What happens?
This sugestion is Snowman Aproved
I love this idea to talk to all your friends at once.
Would have helped me alot when I started going nuts after I soloed Lord Vanaduke without dying and only using levi and polaris =]
It's so simple, yet I would never have thought it. Great idea. Make this chat bright red or something.
So.. does OOO even read these forums?
Or is it basically players only. =)
The problem with comparing this to guild chat is that everyone's guild list is the same in a given guild. This is not the case for friends lists, where person A could have person B and C friended, while person B and C only have person A friended, not each other. This would (though not in that particular example) lead to situations where you have let's say three guys talking amongst themselves while everyone else on their respective friend lists are being spammed with half a conversation they aren't even part of, leading to confusion and annoyance.
Private chat channels, which players could join in a method similar to the local and trade channels, would be a much better option.
From my perspective, the most important usage of a friend chat option would be broad-spectrum pre-invite announcements. "Need 4th player for FSC/JK run, reply if you're interested", that sort of thing. For example, I don't mind joining a party that's literally just about to take the elevator to the JK if I'm not doing anything else - it's a fun fight, there are tokens in it, and I've got the gear to have a go without vials or a Vitapod. But some people balk at the idea. It'd be nice to be able to broadcast exactly what you're doing to your friends list before inviting people who may not want to do what you're doing.
To an extent, this can be addressed by the invitee; a glance at their own friends list will show them whereabouts the inviter is. But I do think it'd be better if you could broadcast "I am at x doing y, respond if you want in", rather than individually messaging and/or inviting all your online contacts.
I've seen it in quite a few RPGs,and it helps, particularly when you need someone to travel into the Clockworks/go PvP with you.
