I seem to die in less hits from a BTB than flourish lines in LD
BTB stronger than flourish lines?
I guess these 2 weapons aren't used by the same person (who would carry both of them). So there are are other things that may influence the damage like skolver armor or trinkets.
I've given many people the advice of getting either FF or BTB, because they're the same except in charge. But recently I've been looking at the wiki in detail. If the damage figures are to be believed, then BTB and FF regular attacks are identical against beasts, fiends, slimes, and constructs, but BTB does more damage against gremlins and undead. If this is really true, then I may stop recommending FF as much. Because many people do occasionally use their piercing weapon against one of its neutral targets.
@Bopp
hmmm, I think on the contrary FF charge is better than BTB against gremlins(at least for single enemies). My friend uses electron vortex + FF charge and kills most of the gremlins.
He also takes out menders with FF's charged attack. As of normal attacks I didn't compare both of them.
Of course flourish charge will do more damage since it's a focused attack.
My previous comment was entirely about regular attacks, not charge attacks. And I'm not relying on personal experience; I'm talking about the data on the wiki.
So let's try again: Does anyone have any idea whether the wiki data on REGULAR attacks of FF and BTB are accurate? If they are accurate, then FF and BTB are not equivalent in their regular attacks; BTB's regular attacks are more powerful against gremlins and undead.
I'll do a quick update on this to answer Bopp's question by carrying both 5* lvl-10 versions while doing some delves, since I'm curious myself.
To note, my damage will be sourced with both swords having a Max Damage bonus from Skolver Set + Barb shield, but that shouldn't be a factor to this as both should scale similarly anyway.
Volebamus,
Based on the two damage tables for the FF and BTB, the stratum in question is stratum 6 for gremlins & undead.
Given this, my guess is that the apparent difference is an error since it is not applied consistently. But please test (like in fsc) to quench our curious minds!
Hopefully this wouldn't mean I should make a BTB from scratch for FSC now...
From the history for the wiki edits, it looks like some people changed the damage data. The old data showed that the attack damage as identical. I have both swords, so tomorrow I'll hop down to Strata 6 and check the numbers.
Maybe there was a silent update to the BTB's damage?
Well, doing FSC right now with both of them simultaneously equipped, and neither is stronger than the other in several depths.
My friend just asked the guy who edited the Barbarous Thorn Blade wiki page, whether he had made an error. And he apologetically said that he had, by accidentally wearing Ash Tail or Skolver during the tests. So they should be reverted back to the Final Flourish values.
BTB are the no-status flourish line have the same exact damage, only the charge is different. The 2 flourish line with status have less damage to compensate the fact that they have a status.
