Hi, I just watched a bit of your cast. Interesting to say the least. I skipped over a lot of your gameplay mostly to hear the impressions you two may have as new players. I think you (and many others that try out this game) have missed a bit of the point of the energy system. While it is limiting of potential gameplay, it ultimately turns the normal mmo experience into a more casual and drawn out game where you can explore the mechanics and intricacies that make people like it. That said, the choice of whether to craft or to play is really a short-lived decision in the scope of how long you choose to play this game. If you want an example of another good game that implements a limited daily usage, I recommend checking out Kingdom of Loathing ~ a witty, mostly text based RPG based in-browser.
Also, some things should you consider to continue playing: once you reach and can complete tier 2 stratum in full (from depth 9 to 17) you can easily make around 6k crowns, and hence buy another 100 (or close to) CE to go on yet another run. So really you can see the gameplay of SK as sort of a bell curve of how one progresses through the game: the beginning feels relatively slow; the middle feels a bit more fast paced; the end takes all that you've learned and your developed skill, and puts those to the test.

Just to chime in on the mist thing, I tend to think of it as a built-in anti-addiction utility. With a regular MMO, you could log in first thing in the morning, then next time you look up it's 2am and you've got some huge report due in the morning and OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD FUUUUUUU-
But with SK, after you've burned through 2 hours of gameplay, you get a reminder to get your butt off the couch and go outside, stretch your legs, eat, do whatever.

Actually, I think the Mist is an addiction utility.
I'm always doing the math to see when my mist tank will fill up, and I always try to play at 5PM, otherwise my schedule gets thrown off and I have to wait longer the next day to play.
Because I'm an addict.

In my opinion the mist is an incredibly well designed system, both for company profit, anti-addiction, and a means of tracking how much you've gotten done in a day. As annoyed as I am by it sometimes, I can't help but be impressed with how well thought out the developers have made it.
Also I appreciate all the advice and tips from everyone, and seeing that I can make 6k crowns in Tier 2 runs in order to go again is quite exciting :)
