How should I be gearing myself up for dealing with the Rabid Snarbolax? I currently have the following gear equipped for this purpose:

Armor: Skolver Cap (low shadow resist UV), Skolver Coat (low shadow/low curse/low freeze resist UV)
Shield: Barbarous Thorn Shield
Weapons: Leviathan Blade, Barbarous Thorn Blade (high speed/med ctr/low dmg vs. fiend UV), Divine Avenger, Gran Faust
Trinkets: Royal Jelly Band, Elite Quickstrike Module

I still need to acquire a ranged weapon, but I have other guild mates that specialize in those to come with me. I was considering switching out my helmet for a Dread Skelly Mask (still working on it) and the Elite Quickstrike Module for an Elite Slash Module to keep my max damage bonus, but will this be balanced enough to deal with the challenge, and if not what should I change?

Get Shadow defense in there,

Get Shadow defense in there, and swap out that Faust for an Elemental gun.

Disregarding Chromalisks, the only Piercing down there is from (Alpha) Wolvers; the most abundant damage is Shadow from Skellies, Kats, and Howlitzers. There are Lumbers and a few Sick Puppies for Elemental, but they're not a defense priority.

ignoring bopps post

I use a Skolver set, Final Flourish, Gran Faust, Divine Avenger, and a Polaris. Works perfectly.

Since the Gran Faust isn't very useful there, I suggest you swap it out with a piercing gun like a Blitz Needle or Callahan.

Hmm

You don't really need Levi or Gran Faust in UGWW, especially if you already are carrying BTB and DA. For the Unknown Passage the Gran Faust would be nice for the slimes/gremlins, but not necessary.

It is a lot easier if there are two Shivermists and at least two Polarises in the party. If you equipped those instead then you'd be closer to that criteria. If you are going as a pure swordsman, then don't worry about it, just be sure your party members are equipped with those weapons.

As the other thread that Bopp linked to mentioned, full Skolver and BTS works.

@Vlad what shield do you like? I'm partial to Dread but found BTS to be viable.

My suggestion for armor and

My suggestion for armor and gear: use radiant silvermail. Think about it: poison resistance plus piercing defense for wolvers and shadow defense for undead. It could also work for UFSC. In terms of weapons, I like to use DA/combuster for elemental, gran faust for shadow, barbarous thorn blade for piercing, and valiance if all else fails.

There is nothing weak to

There is nothing weak to shadow in Rabid Snarby (I'm not counting Unknown Passage here, since you can change whenever you want there), so a Gran Faust is a waste of a slot, that could be use for something more useful like Polaris or Shivermist.

As for Radiant Silvermail, yeah it's great for there, but it's the only place it is useful, so it's kinda a waste to do it. It is not that hard that it would justify doing a 5* part just for it. Skolver is good enough for the job (if you have some skelly part, it's great too, but you don't NEED it). Shadow UV on skolver is great too.
