Heya all! A friend of mine coded a spiral knights calculator and I did all of the data entry monkey work. Annnd it's finally done and has allllll of the equipment in the game in it with recipes and energy prices and whatnot. (barring purely cosmetic items.)

Token items do not display what tokens you need for them. (If there's a huge demand for that, we can prolly throw it in.)

I'll let the abriged version of the instructions speak as far as using it goes.

"The Spiral Knights cookbook is a utility to calculate the amount of materials necessary to obtain any given layout. Usage is simple:

1. Filter equips by type/rating.
2. Select the icon of the equip to add it to your arsenal.
3. Confirm arsenal.

There should now be a table containing all the equips you searched for and their associated materials. Clicking on the name of an equip or material will open the associated wiki page in another window, and clicking the icon of the equip at the top of the table will REMOVE it from your arsenal. If you are performing multiple searches, you may do so without pressing confirm, and it will save whatever selections you had made, but make sure to either search or confirm, or else your selections will not be saved."

ALSO: Click the name of any equip to get a link straight to the wiki article for the equip in question.

Have a link - http://springlessclock.com/skcook/

If you see anything that's incorrect you can e-mail us with the addresses in the help file that you can get to through the linked page. A brief rundown on what errors to send to which people.

Me, Seriyu - Spelling errors, errors in the data displayed, icon errors, images not loading

The Other guy, Cogs - Anything that prevents the calculator from actually working. Buttons not doing anything, dropdown menus bugging out, general wierdness, etc.

Suggestions are also welcomed, send them to either place. Hope this proves useful! I'll be watching the thread, so if you've got any questions I'll prolly be around for a while to answer them.

Unless I forget the tab exists, in which case I apologize.

Neat!

For myself, I have very few things to make, so this has limited uses. But I would have liked this when I was in earlier stages of the game!
I like the wiki links and will use this to look up weapons before I use the wiki.

How hard would it be to have a button that we can use to export the data into an xml so we can manipulate it in excel for our own purposes?
I can copy & paste text, but then it would require additional editing.

I would use this for calculating the mat cost of a crafting something when ragecrafting, such as a calibur.

Alternatively, you could allow the input of mat costs for each user so they can quickly calculate how much a certain item will cost if they had to buy all the mats at their own set price.

Just had a discussion with

Just had a discussion with the coder about that stuff, XML should (keyword, should) be doable in fairly short order, he'll see what he can do about that.

The mat prices stuff will have to wait for a white as he is still working on the main website (Incidentally if you're into art maybe check out the front page, only plug for the main site here, moving on :P) but he approves of it and will add it eventually. Incidentally, by the mat cost inputs, you meant input the price for a specific material, then add it to the end crown cost right? Just making sure we're on the same page.

Thanks for checkin it out again, by the way!

Voltedge.

Voltedge isn't listed.
Edit: And the Voltaic Tempest is looking likehttp://wiki.spiralknights.com/Voltaic_Tempest instead of simply Voltaic Tempest.

Checking out those icons, if

Checking out those icons, if anyone else has seen any bad icons for materials inparticular, if they could mention which ones had incorrect icons that'd be nice, as it's pretty hard to find bad material icons on short notice. Thanks!

EDIT: And Voltedge.

EDIT2: Now is a good time to mention since I'm fiddling with the database, some icons may just randomly go missing or whatever. Generally if you see a missing icon or wiki link or something it's me messing with stuff behind the scenes.

EDIT3: Oh maaaaan so much stuff isn't working because I never had to use it oh maaaaaan

EDIT4: The entire voltedge tree should now be working! The icon fixes will have to wait for a fix in the edit function.

EDIT5: Voltaic tempest name fixed, annnd now moving on to icon fixes.

EDIT6: Annnnd the known icon issues are fixed. Lemme know if you find any more!

Damn, 600,000cr worth of crap to craft before I'm done cooking my FSC set. ;_;

Awesome site, though. Mad props to you both for putting this together.

Oh, one thing to fix: the weapon trinkets shouldn't have a recipe cost.

Weapon trinkets?Do you mean

Weapon trinkets?

Do you mean trinkets that increase attack speed/power?

EDIT: Oh wait, yes. That's a function of the utility, talking with cogs about this.

EDIT2: Yep, we'll fix that, ends up it was a bug. It was supposed to leave out the recipe price cost if there were no mats on it, but it ends up a few trinkets DO have recipes without having to buy recipes. So it's kind've a pain to fix. Cogs has been notified, he'll fix it ASAP.

Spelling

Mercurial Mail is misspelled as Murcurial Mail and Sentenza as Sentaza. The Valkyrie Helm is just Valkyrie. The Voltedge image is square, although it is the right picture. All the Wyvern scale stuff is misspelled as Wyrvern. The Bombastic Demo Helm image is wrong.

I'll fix that stuff AcidSnow,

I'll fix that stuff Acid-Snow, and we're checking into the voltedge image thing.

EDIT: All the typos in Acid-Snow's post have been fixed, bombastic demo helm image should be fixed, and the voltedge image doesn't seem to be taking transparency for some reason. That's a code thing I think, continuing to look into it.

EDIT2: Now the bombastic demo helm icon's doin it. HMMMMMMMMMMMMM

EDIT3: Fixed square icons!

Update!

Sorry for the double post, but there's an update! That XML export thing Sypsy suggested in the first reply is now in. Still no mat prices and such, and probably won't be any for a while as cogs wants to get the main site caught up before he jumps into something that big. I'll let cogs explain!

"
So there's now a little link at the bottom of any table that you load which says "view as XML". Clicking this will take your current layout and generate an Excel 2003 compatible XML document which you may use for whatever your heart desires. I don't actually HAVE Excel, so I am going mostly on gut feelings for this one, but my limited testing seemed functional, and the Excel parser for Open Office seemed pretty happy with it. Happy crafting!
"

We got a friend with excel (presumably excel 2003) to test this out, and apparently it worked fine. We don't have a lot of people for testing, so this is about as good as it gets, unfortunatly. As always, report bugs, suggestions, etcetera. Link is in the opening post as always. Enjoy!

EDIT: Oh, also, this update has removed the "trinkets add a recipe cost" bug.

Wow that was quick

Well, the mat cost thing was only me trying to think about how you could provide more utility to your calculator.
I'm only one person, so my suggestions may not be what other people want.

The XML works fine with Excel 2007. Good stuff!
The only issue was that clicking the link in Google Chrome opened up the source code. I had to hold alt and left click to download.
Not sure if this is an issue only with myself though.

---
To clarify the mat costs suggestion: I was thinking that to the right of the totals cost, you can have an input box where one can type the amounts per item in. A third column to the right would show the costs in total in crowns, and I guess you could add it to the alchemy crown costs, but it could be confusing.

HOWEVER, given the export you added, this can easily be done by someone in a worksheet. Putting it in the calculator may complicate things unnecessarily.

Well cogs seems to be fine

Well cogs seems to be fine with it so far, and I agree. You make a good point though, with the XML export basically taking care of that problem, so I suppose unless we get a ton of demand for such a thing, we'll probably keep it for when he feels like messing with the calculator again as opposed to going out of the way for the feature.

And as for the source code issue (It's actually raw XML that looks like HTML syntax info, but tomato tomahto), right clicking and downloading should work too, incidentally. I've informed him about the bug but unless people have some terrible amount of trouble figuring it out, we'll likely keep it as such, since this also allows people to save the file from the browser as well. ("file -> save page as" for anyone wondering.)

He's added some "Right click, save as" text to the export link for our less technically inclined folks (like me), as we could be more clear about why the screen is suddenly filled with computery gibberish. Thanks for the heads up!

EDIT: Oh, also, the update has removed the "trinkets add a recipe cost" bug.

Very good ^_^

Could you possibly allow us to select the same equip more than once? Just so that, for example, we could select 4 Sunset Stetsons so we knew how much we needed to make all the 5* Gunner hats, and their pre-requisites.

nice but

nice but it need much more numbers. its possible implement dmg numbers from wiki and combine it with statuses from armor?

and then display result as dmg versus different types of monsters

right now its quicker use wiki directly;)

This is SO helpful!

I'm always getting lots of new 5 stars and stuff, and I end up calculating the total costs all up normally, and it's a pain, I don't really have issues with mats but it's cool that it has a total for it too.
I know this is a reach, but maybe if it somehow had a CE/Crown rough converter to it it'd have all my needs.
Maybe just on the side not actually on the specific things, in other word the equivalent to a basic calculator there.. maybe an option for the player to be able to edit the crown cost or have it just set at like 6k CR exactly, or something? It's probably something not a lot of people would want so much, and I bet it'd be a pain to add, but I'd love something like that, not having to open up a normal calculator along with this.

An update appears! Command?

So I woke up, noticed 3 posts went up in the 6 hours or so that I was asleep, went to tell cogs, he beat me to mentioning the posts, went to tell him what people wanted for the calculator that was in line with what we were planning for it, and he beat me to that too.

So there's another update! Once more, quote.

"""
Alright! So as per Nearo's request I hacked together a little energy->crown calculator. It's not terribly robust or in-depth, but it should get the job done for now. Just put in a crown price per 100 CE and hit "see energy prices" to have the appropriate numbers show up on the table. It defaults to 6000 and doesn't remember what you input if you refresh, but I should probably go back to real work so it'll have to do for now.

Gfjmember; I'll look into allowing multiples of any given item, but like an idiot I pretty much designed this with the express PURPOSE of only allowing one of each. At the very least I'll make that happen when I'm done with my main site stuff and am writing in something less unwieldy than php. (Note: He is currently rewriting the entirety of the main site in Django, and when he's done with that, he will likely rewrite the calculator in Django too. I don't know what this means for the most part, but it's probably good! And he'll likely get to your request while he's rewriting it.)

In regards to Quandasim's suggestion for including combined stats, while I think that would be an awesome feature this is unfortunately not designed around giving the stats of the weapons and armour so much as just keeping track of what you need to make them, which is why I put in the quick links to the wiki from any given equip or material name. I'll put a little thought into whether that would be doable, but for now it's not looking good.
"""

So, there you have it. Also thanks to the spiral knight team for retweeting our tweet about the calculator, the referrals for the forum and the twitter link are about neck and neck now!

Enjoy everybody!

EDIT: Also the link is in the Opening Post, if you're really new, saw the thread and just assumed this last post would have everything you ever needed. I am happy to oblige.

We just saw someone trying to use the calculator without javascript through the referrals and I realized I never actually said it used javascript.

So yes, if you have noscript be sure to disable it for the calculator page or nothing will work.

They're in there, they're

They're in there, they're Drake Scale Mail, and Wyvern Scale Mail, specifically. If they're still not displaying, let me know and I'll have cogs take a look at the code to make sure nothing is broken. And if you were referring to a different set of items, link me to the wiki page and I'll take a look at them.

Thanks for the report though, I'd rather have a false report then no report at all if someone thinks there's a problem. :p

WOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH

We've got a pretty huge update! Long story short the cookbook has been rewritten in django and.... Well I'll just let cogs explain, he's better then me at this anyway.

""
The Spiral Knights Cookbook (previously Calculator, but it seems more like a recipe book to me) has been updated to run on pure active javascript. Your arsenal may now consist of more than one of the same equip, and other than that the behaviour is largely unchanged. Equips are added automatically to the table with javascript, so if there's a slight lag after clicking the icon in the search table that's just the cookbook getting the recipe it needs.

oh, the steps can change too, the last step of confirming is no longer necessary.
""

So there you have it! The URL has also changed, so it'll be at the bottom with The gist is it is now much faster, and the layout's been redone so it's now a bit more compact. As with any new update there are bound to be a few bugs, so please don't be afraid to e-mail one of us about them, or just let us know through the topic.

Main page link, we have an update detailing a small portion of the creation and use of the cookbook. - http://springlessclock.com/

And a direct link to the cookbook itself. - http://springlessclock.com/skcook/

Also belated happy new year? Sure. Only a month late, not so bad.

Zelda

it looks nice, all of it

ima items collector with an elevator pass, but i could hardly make good use of the cookbook, even with best intent
seeing some of the posts above, i hope im the only 1, who feels that way

sk kind of has a completely screwed up material-&-difficulty-system(usually mats are lvl-dependent, but there are no lvls in sk)
the game never requires tremendous effort to get ahold of materials(which is why it doesnt need to offer overpowered items to the players to make it worth the trouble & why the players are all balanced)
the biggest crowns- and energy costs are easily memorized and remembered, even by the least attention-paying players
the recipes are a necessary step for crafting and display all mats needed for the item by simply hovering the cursor over the recipe(as far as i remember)

Off topic but

Speaking of cookbooks, here's a recipe for roast jelly.

Ingredients:
1 Royal Jelly Palace (should include a few dozen jelly cubes, may contain bits of wood and metal. Sift thoroughly with an elemental weapon to remove the largest bits.)
1 Royal Jelly (If your local Clockworks does not have Royal Jellies, a Jelly King (JK) maybe substituted)
1 Ash of Agni (CTR preferred, but vanilla-flavored will do)
1 Acheron (add DMG, CTR and ASI to taste)
Optional ingredients:
1 Umbra Driver
1 elemental weapon (Polaris and Combuster/Glacius/Voltedge recommended)
Curse, Poison and Fire vials to taste

Instructions:
Simmer lightly in Ash of Agni. Tenderize any remaining Lumbers or Gun Puppies with the elemental weapon, or Acheron in the simplified 2-weapon recipe.
Season remaining jellies liberally with Acheron explosions or Umbra Driver bolts.
Add one (1) Royal Jelly or Jelly King, and beat vigorously until pulped. Season liberally with vials.
Flambé with Ash of Agni and serve immediately.

Edit: Ah! I forgot the cooking time, ~20-30 minutes. Add ~10 minutes for higher latencies.

Serves 1-4 knights.

Indeed

Word on the street says deep-frying with Voltaic Tempest instead of a sustained simmer as with Ash of Agni can result in a more flavorful roast, although to ensure food safety, the cooking time should be extended. If using Voltaic Tempest, proceed as if cooking at higher latency and simmer/fry for an extra 5-10 minutes.

Blaze Pepper dip

3 Ecto Drops
2 Gel Drops
2 Static Clingers
1 Nightshade
1 Cooling Cell
1 Rock Salt
1 Volt Oil
1 Blaze Pepper
1 Warp Dust
1 Gremlonium

Mince and cook Blaze Pepper and Nightshade in Volt Oil over a Gremlonium-powered oven. Once Blaze Pepper and Nightshade is sufficiently browned, add Ecto and Gel drops. Once mixture thickens, serve in a Cooling Cell (mixture will be quite hot; the heat needed to break down toxins in a Nightshade can only be generated from Gremlonium, and this is why a Cooling Cell is needed to serve). Garnish with Static Clingers and Warp Dust. Add Rock Salt to taste.

@No-Thanks: Yeah, it definatly seems that way, we're mostly maintaining it now becuase well, we made it this far, and maintaining it is relativly very easy. So whynot? :p

At any rate if you have any suggestions about how to make this more usable, I'll be sure to pass them on to cogs (The coder) and see if they're workable.

And as always while the recipe discussion is delightful, don't let it stop you from making error reports/suggestions. I'm reading every post (Not that it's very hard when it's like, 3 new posts per refresh max, but that's beside the point), don't worry about me missing em.

Interesting.

A nice chunk of code and a pretty neat application. Can't say I'm familiar with Django. Sadly as other have mentioned it's not terribly functional. If you had replaced the cost data with (or simply added) defense, stat resist, damage, and bonus data you might have even gotten it included in the wiki. From what I've read though, that would require a substantial rewrite. Oh well.

YEEEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH

@blackskies: Heya! Thanks for the feedback, and do note there are wiki links to each specific equipment article if you click the name. If I didn't put that in the OP I probably should, hmm. And on top of these I don't think there are really any solid numbers, they just have the meters and "high-med-low" elemental damage and status indicators. On top of it we're not 100% sure how it all adds together etcetcetc.

Basically the wiki articles should be showing that information well enough, ideally.

@Squishat: Thanks! Glad to see you're enjoying it.

EDIT: I indeed did not mention the wiki links. It's now in the OP. Annnnd he's still thinking about a material cost field. SO

People watching this thread, would you like a material cost field? And if so would you fill out the field yourself (every time you change an equip or load a file or anything) EVERY time? We need some feedback.
