It wouldn't stop making me type a letter in the chat, Every time i tried typing in a box it filled up with the same key? I kept trying to ask for help and people said "report this kid", and eventually i was disconnected and i got a ban message. Help?
I was just banned for "spamming"...

There is an annoying bug
There is an annoying bug where certain keys get stuck, mostly special characters like ":", "/", etc. The only way to fix the bug is to hit the key again.
That said, if you got this bug, you shouldn't have kept hitting enter.

Well, what else was i supposed to do?
I tried logging off and closing spiral knights, but nothing was fixing it. I also could not delete the characters to clear the chatbox to move on, either, so i had to submit them.

I have experienced this same
I have experienced this same bug twice before. First case was the number "8" key just filling up the chat field. Second case was the letter "a". Both times I could not stop the entry of that key unless I pressed the ESC key to close the chat field. Each time I ultimately had to restart the game to fix the problem. During each of those cases, the moment I hit the enter key to open the chat field, the number/letter would begin again until I closed the field.
As for your ban, well... you did press the enter key. To receive a ban you must have done so multiple times. Good luck with your appeal.

There was some bugs about
There was some bugs about keyboard getting stuck on Macs... and I know there is a compatibility problem with Input Method. I have Chinese input methods installed on my computer, and if I accidentally activate it and type a Chinese character in SK chat bar, then it will behave like what you've described.

I haven't had that bug in a while, but when I did I simply alt-tabbed out if it's in fullscreen, or 'unfocused' the window. When I came back it was fixed. Might have changed, but eh.
At least now you know you can use ESC to kill the chatbox :)

I see alot of people saying they have to restart the game... but when this happens to me, i just open up an internet browser (safari, firefox, chrome or whatever). this usually fixes it for me.

i've encountered the issue
i've encountered the issue many times, i dont know how to repeat it but i do know it has something to do in the area of pressing alt, ctrl, shift, maybe caps lock in some order and also pressing a letter or such. The only way for me to fix it is exit out of the game, sometimes I've even ended up spamming a couple messages cause I was trying to reply back to someone or such. I believe this is fairly harsh to ban you because of a bug that you cannot control, yes you should of just exited out of the game insted of spam how ever I would of thought a kick to login screen would of been enough and got the point across. good luck on your unban

i think a simple chat ban would be a much better way of settling this
there are way too many playtime bans resulting from chat alone, that dont sound legit to a considerable amount of players
minor harm, which doesnt seem intended, shouldnt be treated with such harsh punishments if ther are other options available

Paweu, you're missing the point.
He didnt know about the stuck-on-key glitch that results in that. Perhaps by pressing enter he was trying to get people to see what was happening. If I had seen him doing that, I would have certainly advised him to press the corresponding key, and certainly not reported. Whoever did clearly didnt understand what was actually happening.
He wasnt breaking the rules, he was suffering from a glitch, and it's people like you who probably took that problem as the worse possible meaning without even thinking, resulting in this whole issue.
Ive come across others with the same problem, as well as myself, and ive advised them on how to fix it. You would probably just say 'Stop spamming, noob' or something like that and report the poor guy.
Shame on you.

Thats why the OP was banned, noone cares if you have some compulsive disorder that you have to press ENTER to see if it works and repeat it many times before it gets to you that its not working.
And no, if i saw something like that happen i'd just report him for spam. But good to see that you are fast to judge with your prejudice. And no, i won't waste my keystrokes just to explain someone basics of computer usage.

I get this bug occasionally,
I get this bug occasionally, i thought it was either my keyboard or me using a Linux OS that was causing it. for me its always the ":" symbol; exiting fullscreen and going back fixes it for me

i get it sometimes with "8" which is weird, because my hands never go NEAR the 8 key when playing. but yeah, hiting enter over and over was a bad idea dude. hit the key thats stuck.

I don't feel sorry for you, but I do think that with an appeal OOO should unban you.
No, I don't expect everyone to know the basics of computer usage, but I do expect people to know that spamming random characters in a video game won't provide useful bug support.
Next time, don't spam the enter key to fix bugs, it doesn't work. The proper course of action would be to ask on the forums (like right now), or e-mail support. Spamming random crap wouldn't get you much help unless someone guessed you were experiencing a bug. As others said, you can always hit the escape key to cancel any text in the chat box (esc is useful for most programs, but too bad most people don't learn to use a keyboard efficiently instead of a inefficient mouse).
