I can't quite decide what I should choose, if I had Bombs+Guns I would probably get Mad Bomber Suit or any of the others.
If I had Swords+Guns I would probably end up with Snarbolax Armor / Vog Cub Armor.
Anybody know which I should choose?

Depends on which one you like playing, of course. If you like both, then you can always work on one set then the other, or both simultaneously.
IMO, bombs are better at multiple targets and status inflicts, while swords are damage machines if you use the right damage type. I hate when I'm in full bomber get up and there's just one pesky mob. D:<
And if you do decide to go for Mikal's set up, use Volcanic helm instead of suit, as the helm has CTR med while suit only has low.

3 is better than 2, but gun and sword if only two.
I like to have all three, especially since I play a lot solo or in a pair. It's nice to have the right tool for any enemy.
I usually go with nitronome or spike shower, ash or shivermist, a sword appropriate for the stratum (silent knightblade, dark thorn blade, or avenger), and an elemental gun. Sometimes I bring a second gun instead of one of the bombs.
Although I love bombs the most, if I had to pick just two, I would be taking gun and sword, because those are the two I find I am mostly likely to truly need, although not always the ones I want. My nitronome blows up jellies faster than anything else I've got (I have damage bonus vs. slime), but without it I can make do with a sword and gun. Against retrodes, puppies, and howlitzers, I'd die a lot more if I had to bomb or slash instead of shooting an elemental gun, so those are enemies against which I feel I need a gun. Similarly, there is no better way to take out a mender than with a sword, so I wouldn't want to be without a sword anywhere I'm likely to face menders. (Silkwings can be shot or blown up effectively, so those I take care of with a gun or bomb more often than not.)
