The Swarm

The Swarms were the native, intended beings gave birth by the Cradle. But the Creator intervened and seeded the various species (Gremlins, Strangers, Snipes) onto the planet. This was done by using the power of the Core to suppress the spread of the Swarms, so the Creator's beings could prosper and maintained Cradle for the Creator.

After Spiral Knights crash landed on Cradle, they were drawn to the power source of the Core. In one of the tests, they temporary weakened the power source in the Core and awakened the Swarms. The Swarms spread quickly and corrupted everything in their paths.

The only way to stop the spread of the Swarms were through isolation (through locked gates) and restarting the suppressing system at the Core. But it's too late, because the Swarms have started infecting the Core, transforming into a new monster unseen in the history of Cradle. Would the Creator interven one more time? Or would the destiny of Cradle lies on the shoulders of the crash landed Spiral Knights?

We will find out in Tier 4. a.k.a. The Core.

P.S. OOO, please make the story not suck. You can do better than an amateur, right?

the swarm has all the markers

the swarm has all the markers of a edritch abomination, it is the other, its is hunger without end, but whatever is in the core hits some of those points as well but its morality seems to be a bit more in our favor.

honestly i think its the crimson order who does the ruling in place Tinkizar, either because he dead or to far gone from the swarm infection, it might explain why no one has ever seen him. the swarm its self could be be something like New Phyrexia, the absence of the gremlin king could explain why emberlight even exists, it might even part of the reason why punch and vise have no problem helping us out (for nice prices of course)

but don't you just love how heroic the echo logs makes us sound

from the echo logs the cradle was created to protect what ever is in the core , its made from multiple worlds. but the architect (the gremlin king we think) lost it. we are only here because we crashed and are stuck, thats why every new knight gets orbital dropped into the cradle

I don't think the crimson

I don't think the crimson order or Tinkizar were the first rulers.If this swarm had the power to do that much in theshadow lairs I don't think this thing would need him and if he was infected or he had this power he would have conquered the planet including the FSC that the gremlin or jelly army try to get in the first place.Also why the heck did this swarm jsut come out in first place?

And about the Alpha Team

Also, the Alpha Team disappeared, supposedly entering the Core... It could only mean 2 things, now that we have an idea of what is inside:

1. The being behind the Echo Stones, that Creator, helped them and they are training to fight or fighting the Swarm already inside the Core.

2. They have been swallowed by the Swarm and we will have to put them out of their misery, which could mean a new boss that was against all of them.

Technically they aren't controlled by the Swarm (at least not directly)

Based on the info given to us, They are just the "next chapter" to the bosses' story. Snarby is just rabid, JK was just overthrown, RT was modified, and Vanaduke learned the arts of Darkfire (aka curse)

Thats all i want to post on this subject, too tired to debate on lore.

P.S you can use SpiralSpy to see what the Core actually is, though since its against the ToS to post actual pictures of spoilers, I can't tell anymore about it.
The best I could give is the file path/directory, but I'm afraid of the power of the GMs :P

Weird I was going to make a discussion about this too.

What if the swarm mimics creatures in the clockworks, but it seems like they are controlling monsters (thus why no loot is dropped)? The bosses we are seeing are merely the swarm taking the form of things that are familiar to us?

Also, the picture on the front page interest me about the intro of the lair. It's the same effect as the seal sword line//faust. Could there be a connection or is it merely just coincidence/reused effect? Could SS have played a role in combating the swarm once before? And what all is in that picture?

those are the darkfire variant of the slag walker, they are called carnavons and they inflict curse

i would take that explanation on the void monsters but the bosses are explicitly stated to have been corrupted and the shadow lairs still have regular monsters filling the ranks, only the unknown passage has only the swarm and void monsters
