Right now I have the Brandish.
This guy in lockdown keeps 1 hit killing me with a Snarble Barb, no matter what class I am and whether his attack is charged or not. Seems to do the same to my teammates as well. Anyone know why?

I was thinking it would be fun to get a more interesting sword like Spur or Cutter, which one is better and why? Or should I stick with the Brandish?

Alternatively, the Troika looks cool, but it's also really slow.

Also what's better, Brandish or Calibur?

Note that I prefer to stick to normal damage weapons since I am not a paying player, and since I often solo I prefer to have both a sword and a gun.

Or should I save for a 3 star sword?

Dont bring normal to pvp,

Dont bring normal to pvp, they are probably hitting you with the snarble barb, thats piercing? but normal is good for pve

Calibur is great and so is brandish to complete the game, if you want pvp its different and you need more swords probably, and to learn how pvp works (tiers and so) definitely :P

You are 2*, that guy that

You are 2*, that guy that kills you may have 3*. Upgrade the brandish to do some specialized damage (just don't choose cautery sword!)

If you plan to keep playing

If you plan to keep playing pvp, the shockburst brandish recipe (and subsequent ugrades) is by far my favorite krogmo purchases. It does split normal/elemental with a strong shock-inducing charge attack. Shock is almost the middleground between fire and freeze (periodic damage and occasional stunning), making it a great general purpose sword.

I would suggest getting used to specialized weapons early on; while normal damage may seem more useful now, you'll start wanting specialized damage weapons soon. As enemies become stronger, you'll start wanting to use hard-counter damage types against them. Without buying extra weapon slots, elemental/pierce is usually considered the most viable combination.

F.Y.I. you are most likely

F.Y.I. you are most likely getting hit twice with that Snarble Barb. The 2nd swing of piercing swords is barely perceptible if you Swing, Swing, shield cancel. The animation for the second swing (technically a thrust not a swing) gets cut down to only the first frame if u shield cancel.

If you really want to deal damage in T2 PvP, get all 3* gear and max out the Heat. Completing the heat makes a huge difference. Many times a fully heated 2* item is more powerful than a freshly crafted 3* item, but why waste heat on 2* upgrade ASAP.

Oh, and in my opinion Normal is still fine in T2 PvP. A fully Heated Sealed Sword or Arc Razor are both formidable.

If you were to only have 1 sword for PvE I would make it a Calibur->Leviathan. I love mine, but I rarely use if for PvP. In T2 PvP I tend to prefer either Shadow (Nightblade), Piercing (Twisted Snarble Barb), or Elemental (Shockburst Brandish). Even better I like to equip all three, so I can trade out for optimal damage based on my victim's armor.

Go get yourself a Snarble Barb it is super easy to grind that out of Snaby (~4 runs) and free.

1-TSB has high piercing

1-TSB has high piercing damage, get some resistance to it.whats your armor loadout?and class mod?
2-your brandish can turn into a very powerfull weapon if u upgrade it to 3-star.
3-spur is fast, so is cutter, but cutter is quite innfective in my opinion because of the large combo.
4-troikas work well, good dmg and knockbac,k but u need to know when to swing and when to combo or not.
6-calibur has a stronger charge, but brandish can cause status effects with its own(3*). also, brandish does elementaldmg.
7-uhm...
8-get a 2-star, upgrade to 3-star later.
9there is no 5(useless)

if you are getting one shot,

if you are getting one shot, its probably because you are wereing low star armor, posibly without heat. The amount of times I see someone walk into teir 2 with only 5 or 6 health, and then pick striker droping thier health to 2 or 3 is shamefull. seriously, if you have even one 2* item, it puts you in t2, but if all your equipment isnt at least 2*, you will not compete.
