The MINOR Game Design Annoyance Thread

Inspired by the like-named thread over in the Puzzle Pirates forums...

I thought it might be good for people to have a place to make the little suggestions, things that don't need big discussions and won't make a significant change in gameplay. Those suggestions don't each need their own thread, so here's a thread to collect them all. This is not the place to suggest new gear, new bosses, or other big things. Those can get their own threads. I'll kick this thread off with a few minor suggestions below:

1. Give each piece of gear its own artwork. The differences don't need to be large, but there should be some small appearance change with each upgrade. It was heartbreaking for me when I made a deadshot chapeau and found out that it looks just like a gunslinger hat. The shadow defense was well worth the 800 energy, but I would have liked it to show off that expenditure a bit. Just a color change or a small emblem change (a skull a crossbones instead of the sheriff star) would make me very happy.

Currently the following sets of gear have the same art:
Gunslinger hat, Sunset stetson, Deadshot Chapeau, and Justifier hat (the worst, in my opinion, because two 5* items look like 3*)
Shadowsun stetson and nameless hat
Cutter and striker
Tempered calibur and ascended calibur

2. There is a bug currently where if you lock a party but set it to allow guildmates and friends, guildmates and friends can't join you despite the setting (they can still be invited). I have filed bug reports and I know this isn't a particularly devastating bug, but I look forward to being able to jump in and surprise a friend when this is fixed.

3. Tier 2 toxigels do piercing damage but don't have spines like their oiler and quicksilver cousins. I would either make the damage normal or help them grow spines, to keep damage consistent with artwork among the lichen varieties.

4. Chroma-barf does piercing damage. It really looks like it should be elemental (or normal) to me, since it's just a puddle of status-inflicting goo. Like the current T2 toxigels, nothing about it should pierce.

5. The auction house currently sorts UVs by number of variants and then star level of the gear, with no further sorting. It would be great if the sorting went by number of variants, then level of variant (Max, Very High, High, Medium, Low), then star level of the gear.

Ohh, this gives me an idea.

Ohh, this gives me an idea. How about separate suggestions threads? Sticking everything in one spot is annoying.

2. you sure? I believe it's because people misunderstand how ticking those options work and take it the opposite way.
3 and 4 are ok but I guess they did it that way since those families are supposed to do pierce damage

2. there are numerous unfixed bugs that happen and have yet to be fixed or even acknowledged

3. slime and beast families do piercing thats just what they do regardless of the animation's depiction

Non-status lichen colonies that are the same size as toxigels do normal damage in tiers 2 and 3 (in tier 3 the toxigels have spines). All other lichens that do piercing damage have spines, hence the suggestion.

and? normal is used in t2 t3

and? normal is used in t2 t3 but suggesting that chromas use a damage not indigenous to the family as a whole doesnt work out

maybe i was wrong on the family thing.... normal is a common thing to all families but that doesnt mean they need to be consistent with the art

I think that the art should just be changed. Not sure why toxigels only have tiny spikes.

i dont really care for the other suggestions, artwork should never dictate gameplay, and i dislike it when guildies and friends just drop into a dive unannounced, sorting in the AH could be done better but meh

but the original skin is pretty important for a game entirely dependent upon equipment

i understand why its been done the way it has but still it takes literally 1 change to the code and some new .png files
the gunslinger hat series is the worst for this, i had quick scout of the resource images used on the line, it would be incredibly easy to add another skin or two (hey here's a radical idea, why not have a brown stetson/akubra) and to create some new icons/badges - the sheriffs star is a separate image, probably because the original idea was to have it interchangeable - the skull and crossbones seems a perfect addition to me

as for the calibur, looks like somebody got the file name wrong in the code, there are 4 calibur skins
there are two very different skins for the cutter and striker, im pretty sure they are different in game, i'll have a look later on but if not its the same minor mistake, just the wrong file name in the striker/cutter code

that damage numbers is off by

that damage numbers is off by default, its such a usefull thing, it should be on by deffault and be turned off by those it annoys.

Overpowered

How some items are obsolete compared to some.
Just tweak the values around a bit, maybe add status effects to them?
