Getting a little bit owned in FSC (possible spoiler alert)

Still quite new to T3, and just got into FSC for the first time. The wheels were bad enough, but the things that produce them are worse! Totally blocking the way, and seemingly untouchable! I'm not sure I want a complete spoiler here, but can someone at least tell me: can they be damaged, or do I just find a way to get around them?
P.S: tried soloing a few T3 arenas too. How the *chuff* does anyone manage to do the final part of those on their own?!? Those turrets slaughtered me! lol

All of the Wheels can and must be destroyed in order ot advance in the levels except the ones on that room with totems and zombies on D24
About the T3 arenas, you have to carefully manage spawns so the turrets don't appear all at once.

Trojans have shields in front, ergo, don't hit them in the front. T3 gremlins have shields on their back, ergo, don't hit them on their back. Wheel generators have shields on their front.

Careful spawn management helps a lot. The right weapons for the particular type of arena also helps a lot. dodging helps some, but there are times when there isn't any place you can move to that won't get you hit, so a shield appropriate for the particular arena type helps a lot.

@Juances Are all of the wheel things destructible in the (I think) bottom-left sprite room? The one with the twisty maze of paths where the wheel things and a few slags spawn when you reach the sprite.

@Nicoya-Kitty
I've done that before, though it really is unnecessary and a waste of time.

@Soinderg I made it through the room fine with them in place, and given I was soloing it seemed like more trouble than it was worth to destroy them. I just wanted to see if I was missing something, especially if I'm going down with a group and they somehow expect me to know how to clear out the wheels in that room to make it quicker for them to bring the sprite back.
I assume that they could be wallhacked with the old DA charge, but some of them looked to be basically unassailable using normal attacks.

I actually take those out by clumping against it at its corner and firing towards its rear end with my silversix. It takes a bit, but you can fire a gun at an angle where your bullet goes around the shield and clips the corner of the back.

Against turret spawn in Tier 3 arenas, you should take in mind that they shoot in an arc progressively and not the 5 bullets at once (polips I think aren't included). You want to be fast there:
1 - Be in one corner when it begins. Try to take out one turret before they look at you.
2 - When they are going to fire, run to the OTHER corner of the axis in the X axis of the corners of the room. If you stop a bit before in the center so they shoot all at the center. Bullets will dissipate and not reach you. On the meantime, try to take out another turret.
3 - Try to repeat the move. Take in account that some turrets may have desynchronized and already shoot. Calculate the route and go for it! When you arrive take out the other turret or the first one if you couldn't.
4 - Repeat these steps as necessary until you have a safe spot where breath a little and get the rest of the turrets at a distance.
5 (or another way) - Not soloing makes all this much easier as someone can shield you while taking down turrets. Take turns shielding if one gets its shield near broken status.
In case you talk about getting 12 turrets instead of 8... you should mind the two different spawn groups that coexist in a 3rd room of the Arena:
- The first group is the "back" of the enemies, which tend to be Mechaknights. The 2nd part tends to be a specific race enemy of the Arena.
- After erasing the "back" group you will get 4 turrets. The "front" group will spawn 2 big enemies (Alpha Wolver/Lumber) and two healing mobs.
- After erasing the 4 turrets you will get 4 big enemies. After erasing the 2 big enemies and healing mobs the 8 turrets will spawn.
- After killing both groups, the final spawn will occur. Try to take out fast the 2 healing mobs that appear on the upper-left and lower-right. After that, either kite or shield-sword-shield-etc the remaining ones.
*Maybe what the front and back groups spawn is the other way around or changes... sorry about my memory, I think someone can confirm that fast enough. And if you get 12 turrets, you WILL get hit. At tier 2 is already hard enough, so avoid that situation because either your input or 100% guaranteed lag will make them hit you at least once or twice.
Hope it can help you!

Hah, I remember my first FSC. I died to the first round of wheels about 10 times. Props to my awesomely patient team for not kicking me right then and there. Yeah, those wheels are vulnerable on the sides and back like everyone said. Just hit 'em there right after they dispense a wheel. They usually go down in two to three sword strikes, maybe 4 shots? I've never actually counted, hmm.
For the bottom left room, I usually destroy the wheel on the right side, middle of the maze (ish). I don't bother with the others--I'm too lazy to try and find trick shots and stuff--and it's been pretty speedy anyways.
As for arenas, like everyone said, spawn management is very important in T3. It's pretty much insta-death if you've got all 12 going on and you're not standing in a good postion/have the right armour. Even the wave of 8 is iffy sometimes--the other day, we had 8 rocket puppies pop up. We were duoing, and oh man, guided missiles are the worst. I think we energy revved once between the two of us, but it was a really close thing.
If you solo arenas, try to end up at the very corner right before the 8 spawns. Take out two turrets as fast as you can (either the two beside a corner or on one side), which gives you some breathing room. Then take down the rest one by one either clockwise or counter-clockwise. I sometimes even run laps around the whole arena to charge up a weapon, but sometimes I don't time it right or I have a lag-spike...and then it's just another stupid death.
Speaking of arenas, last wave of the 3rd stage was all gremlins bombers the last time I did an arena. I've never seen such lag and screen-obstruction/shaking before, so fun.

@Myllakka Oh man, I had the bombers in the last wave too this afternoon. Just a carpet of orange explosion. And those damn T3 menders and their resurrections. D:

Heh! Always fun, especially when I'm near the southern gates and I suddenly see myself blown sky high. Oh, a bunch of bombs were thrown at me...that I couldn't see. I hate, hate, hate bombers, but just a tad less than greavers and alpha wolvers.
I'm 100% sure that bombers are controlled by GMs and DEVs!

The wheels in the bottom room on the left side are only indestructible if you solo the room (apart from the wheel on the right side and the wheels at the top). If you have people helping you they can stand up on the platforms they spawn on and they'll be below/above the wheel when it spawns and they can destroy it. It's pretty pointless though, all you need to do is hug the walls of the paths and you won't be hit by them.
All of the Wheels can and must be destroyed in order ot advance in the levels
This isn't true at all. You only need to destroy one wheel so you have space to get through and you can advance. Mobs spawn when you walk past certain points, not when the wheels are destroyed.

About the "twisty maze" in FSC, all i do is go alone to the end while a firned waits on the top to attack the wheels from the back
@Evilduck It's easier to destroy all the wheels then take care of the rewards the poor zombies dropped when they got killed by said wheels, plus destroying all means it'll be easier to catch up for slower allies. It's not 100% neccesary, but everyone does it to avoid troubles.

Sure, I never said anything about what's best. I just pointed out that you were wrong - it isn't necessary. And not everyone does it, especially not people who are solo and/or doing speed runs.

As far as the maze of wheels in the FSC, I only take out the one on the right when I solo, but if i'm in a group and I see someone go down into that room, I'll go and kill the three wheels you can get to with a gun w/o going for spike pads.

Didn't expect this much feedback. Graci. :)
Tried it again last night, with a group this time. Holy Lag! Never seen it that bad. There was a legion of Slags on-screen though, so understandable. Still didn't get to do anything the the wheel wall, but it's good to know that they *can* be destroyed, they're just very Trojanesque. Also, I had no idea the heat reward was so high. Def converted to FSC runs from now on...
Gonna avoid wave 3 of arenas until I'm 5*ed up. Will def remember to work on my wave management though. Maybe finish crafting my Shivermist...

I was on that group run :D
But yeah, the wheels were pretty killer on my first time too. I kept on trying to shield them, and got pushed back into shadow fire, and died. Now, after learning that you MUST dodge them, I almost never die on the first FSC level. I can't really say that for the other levels though.....
They can only be damaged on their sides or behind them. They are shielded on the front.
:)
