Might sound sad, and kinda stuck up... (AI knights)

But does anyone else prefer to animate the clockwork knights to watch their backs rather than join other people's parties? I mean, I know I'm brand new, and not even tier 2 yet, but so far my teamwork experience has been kinda ...lame. Which isn't to say I haven't met a few VERY nice people, and good players- but for the most part, if none of my friends are online, I start a party that allows friends only and just go solo. It takes me a little longer but I don't die and I don't get yelled at for sniping someone else's heat/crowns/materials etc (Which REALLY isn't my fault the crap is magnetic.). The NPC knights don't steal my kills or yell at me for accidentally stealing theirs, or whinge that I didn't wait for them to open a gate they are perfectly capable of opening themselves, or call me a noob for using a gun, or constantly beg me to put them on my Energy tab-

Oh dear this wasn't supposed to turn into a rant.

I just meant to say, my fellow newbies! If you find yourself solo, for whatever reason, the little busted up clockwork knights (um, do they only come in red? if so, the RED ones) are totally worth the 5 energy to power up of you are starting to feel overwhelmed.

At least on Tier 1.
At least that I've seen...

You do know, that materials,

You do know, that heat, crowns, hearts and crystals are all equal and the same for everyone?

Like if you pick up 5 crowns, everyone in the party gets 5 crowns?

There should be a sign somewhere to really emphasize that.

But really though, it's not worth to animate them, usually because Tier 1 monsters are quite easy to manage and dodge.

I thought it did, but the last few (...actually, 4.) rounds I was watching and the crowns my teammates picked up didn't make it to me. Could this be a glitch? Am I the only person this is happening to?

If I remember correctly, the

If I remember correctly, the animation is misleading, crowns accumulate as soon as they start flying toward someone.

If you're having problems with abusive teammates, make a point to start parties so you can kick anyone who gives you guff. T2 weeds out a lot (but not all) of the more inept or rude players, so buy some 2-star gear on the auction house and escape the doldrums of tier 1 ASAP.

As for the friendly mecha-knights, they have a tendency to wander in while I'm fighting something and shock me. Hate 'em.

It's been proven that heat

It's been proven that heat and crowns are shared. I've deliberately tried to pick up as little as possible of everything in one level, and at the end, I gained just as much as other people. As for minerals, I want to laugh at people who whine about that. They make you very, very few crowns to start with, and unless you specifically try to build a gate, it really doesn't matter who gets the biggest one--and that's assuming they're not shared, which they are.

As for the knights, I've always hated them. No matter who powers one up, they magically decide to stick to me 99% of the time, and lo and behold, I end up shocked and losing health. Someone brought on into an arena once, and it nearly got all of us killed since it knocked mechaknights around and woke up all the gunpuppies at once.

I usually join PUGs instead of soloing, if only for the ressing benefits. No matter how good a player you are, sometimes you die, and it's much nicer to have someone around to res you than spend the energy. Not to mention you usually end up a bit deeper, so you get to the good levels--the ones after Basil--with a bit less energy. I don't recall T1 very well since I didn't spend very long there, but yeah, newbies are the ones who are relatively less skilled and ignorant about the game and its mechanics. Once you hit T2, partying gets better (I still do T2 quite a bit, since FSC gets boring and the other T3 levels are bleh in terms of profit). Not to mention if you meet good players, you can add them to friends, and soon enough maybe you won't need PUGs at all, but can still party if you want to.

Good advice. I'm working on

Good advice. I'm working on tier 2 as quickly as I can XD. Thank you. I'll keep an eye out for that animation thing too, maybe I'll do a public run (almost said pub run. hmm XD) and go out of my way to avoid pickups to see. That sounds like it would make sense.

Are you a swordsman then? (I'm a gunner. I use the mech knights like lil rodeo clowns. 'Go forth my minions!' Yes I know that says terrible things about me.)

Well...technically I'm all

Well...technically I'm all three, since I own about equal amounts of guns, swords, and bombs, and I've got sets specializing in all three. I'm a competent swordman, okay bomber, and crap gunslinger though. xD

I just can't get the WASD key movement thing down, and you see me run into walls and corners when I meant to go other direction when I try. Gunslinging is probably the most technical of the three ways to fight IMO, so props to you for being [probably ;p] good at it.

For Tier 1

The only thing you'll want to do is the gate with Snarborlax (AKA Snarby) until you get to Tier 2.
I've generally met nice people on my runs, except for one begger.

Oddly enough, he had a Sealed Sword, Dusker Armor, and a Swiftstrike Shield.
What the hell was he doing in Tier 1?

It gets better in T2

Yeah with random parties sometimes you get a homerun and sometimes you just strike out. That's why a lot of people join guilds to have an organized team.

Just to clarify:Crowns and

Just to clarify:

Crowns and heat are shared by everyone in the party. The animation shows them going to whoever's standing nearby, but watch your crown total. It goes up even when someone else picks them up. Not that materials are randomly distributed amongst party members, and it doesn't matter who picks them up. Also, tokens are shared like crowns/heat. Only pickups (pills/potions) and minerals go to whoever grabs them first.

Also, I hate Mechaknights. Besides the "I wuv-oooo....lemme hug you and shock you!" activity, they also get in the way of attacks and are generally a nuisance.

PUGs are problematic as you don't know anyone, and there's that whole "you don't know me so I'm going to be an [utter jerk]" thing that thrives so well online. As mentioned above, this is one of the reasons why people join guilds, to have a consistent and supportive group to play with.

No no, minerals are shared as

No no, minerals are shared as well. Minerals, heat, crowns, and tokens are all shared.

Wiki on minerals says: Not only that, but if there are multiple knights in a party, all the knights will receive the same number of minerals collected by the party. That means if the party gets one medium and one large mineral, everyone gets 6 minerals.
