Since in my last thread everyone told me to do boss runs instead of farming crowns for boss token weapons, I want to know if my items are good for fighting Jelly King/Roarmulus Twins.

My gear (everything lvl 10):

Armor

cobalt helm - 2* - no UVs
jelly mail - 2* - UVs: low elemental protection and medium poison resist - upgrading to brute jelly as soon as I get some CE

Shield

twisted targe - 3* - no UVs

Weapons

magnus - 3* - no UVs - upgrading to mega magnus as soon as I get some CE
tempered calibur - 3* - no UVs

…

and on a side note I'm going to get some weapon slots soon (Starter Pack ftw) to help me out on T2 runs, but I have no idea what to put in them, so I'd appreciate some help on that too.

A) You really should consider

A) You really should consider changing out your armor and helm for something that grants bonuses to your favorite weapon.
B) Your shield's fine, although you may want to save up for an Owlite Shield to make the Ironclaw Munitions Factory a bit easier, as there's a lot of elemental and shock damage.
C) Magnus may help if there's a fiend or beast stratum before the terminal, but aside from the occasional gremlin in IMF, every enemy you'll be fighting in the T2 boss stratums resists piercing damage, so snag an elemental Alchemer and swap guns at Basil. Tempered Calibur's a good all-rounder for both areas.

As Orbwanter said, your

As Orbwanter said, your armour is good for the JK fight in terms of protection type, but consider getting another set as neither of those pieces give good bonuses. If you like swords, the wolver set upgrades quite nicely to give you either ASI or damage VH (or a medium of each) with either elemental or piercing damage. For IMF, consider a set with elemental defense, or maybe just a piece of equipment with elemental. I personally used Wolver Coat + Magic Hood when I was doing T2, since the 5* Divine Veil upgrade plus Skolver Coat gives you defense to everything. Of course, it's a very general set and isn't the best at anything, but I found it to be a good starting point.

Shield wise, BTS is great as a piercing shield, but consider the Owlite series as well. Lots of ranged damage you have to shield for (gun puppies, retrode beams, etc.) instead of dodging sometimes are elemental attacks, which is why the Owlite is very popular. Not to mention is has fire and shock, which are two of the worst statuses. You don't really need a shadow shield until T3 FSC, and even then, the best one is arguably Crest of Almire, which you need Vana's tokens for. Shadow runs, though--Skelly would be better since it has poison, but that's pretty far into the future. ;o

If you're going to run with 3 or 4 weapons, you should have one of each type (shadow, pierce, elemental) so you can do critical damage against every monster type, plus another convenience weapon. An elemental weapon will help you in the IMF fight, while a shadow one will help with JK. I don't personally use my pierce weapon (Barbour Thorn Blade) very much since I dislike the lunge, but it's helpful for wolvers and fiends which can be tricky with slower swords. With the two weapons you listed, doing JK and IMF would be hard, as both jellies ad constructs resist piercing. As mentioned, consider getting an elemental gun, since they're great for gun puppies also. I didn't really use a shadow weapon until I was well into 4* equips, and the easiest one to get is 3* (Nightblade), so don't worry too much about that now. After you get enough Jelly Gems, try out the Sealed Sword. If you like it, maybe you can make it into a Faust for your shadow weapon.

Heh, Orbwanter said everything I blabbed about up there in 1/4 of the space. Go me and my verbal diarrhea. \o/

I fought T2 bosses with the same thing but a brandish instead of calibur. Didn't even bother of having a useless magnus on royal jelly. I wasn't the best (pretty bad actually) but as long as you find good firends/guild, you can do it.

Your armour set sound all

Your armour set sound all right for Royal Jelly Palace, but for Ironclaw Munition Factory I'd suggest some elemental defence - like Magic set and Owlite Shield.

Magnus is a big NO for both bosses. There are several Gremlins here and Silkwings there but it's not something you really need a Magnus for. Elemental weapons are good for IMF but I wouldn't take Alchemer - you will easily screw up things with the ricochets accidentally hitting switches. Personally I find Blaster suitable gun for IMF and I've been soloing IMF without the need of another weapon.

Just to echo what others have

Just to echo what others have said, you generally want elemental and shadow weapons for both the T2 boss levels. (RJP is full of jelly and construct, IMF is full of construct and gremlin)

Either pierce or elemental armour is good for RJP, and definitely elemental for IMF. If you get the Magic set you can later upgrade it to Grey Feather or Divine for use in FSC. Wolver upgrades nicely to Vog for same. The owlite and snarby shield lines are two of the favourites in the game at all levels.

I wouldn't personally worry about taking a gun to IMF, or RJP for that matter. There's only a couple gun puppies in IMF that having a gun is nice for, and even then it's not that hard to get close and sword them. In RJP you can get through the whole thing with just a calibur or brandish of some sort (other than the cautery) without any awkward points, though having a status bomb (fire or shock is awesome) can be nice in some fights.

Thanks for the advice…so I need elemental gear…

magic set √

owlite shield √

* Which brandish evolution should I get? The nightblade and fireburst are equally tempting.

Nightblade is definitely one

Nightblade is definitely one of the must-have swords in the game (alternately the faust, if you're more fond of heavy swords), and will be good for both T2 bosses: shadow is strong/neutral to all enemies in RJP and IMF, whereas elemental is strong/neutral to most, but weak to gremlins in IMF.

Having a good elemental sword is vital too, though, especially once you hit T3 and want to do FSC. Generally the choice there is either between a DA or one of the 5* elemental brandishes, with the exception of the combuster since FSC is fire-themed. I'm personally most fond of the Voltedge, but you might prefer the Glacius if you're not that big on grinding PVP for the recipes for the former.

Keep in mind that brandish

Keep in mind that brandish don't have effects when you use normal attacks. Thus, think about what you want to have happen the most when you do have time to charge (or is forced to run around charging since close combat can get you killed). For most places, I like having fire--that way, I can quickly kill thins with the charge alone--but freeze is a good choice if you need crowd control sometimes. I've never used Voltege since I'm abysmal at PvP, but I do have a Voltaic Tempest, and I find the use of it limited. Then again, maybe I'm just a pyromaniac? I prefer fire above pretty much everything else. ;p
