Looking to make an all-purpose set

I'm just realizing that I've wasted a ton of time and effort building up sets that I want to ditch the next day and all I really want is a set that I'll never have to change.

Current Equips that I still have:
Guns: Umbra Driver, Polaris, Blitz Needle
Armor: Heavy Demo, Nameless Poncho
Hats: Heavy Demo Nameless Hat
Swords: Ascended Calibur
Bombs: Freezing Atomizer, Toxic Atomizer, Spike Shower, Electron Charge
Shields: Grey Owlite

I probably won't sell all my gear off this time but here is what I'm planning:

Divine Veil
Skolver Coat
Crest of Almire
Leviathan Blade
Polaris
Shivermist Buster
(not sure what I want as a fourth weapon, so I may just let one weapon slot expire)

Any recommendations or suggestions?

yes, that works, but: piercing, elemental, shadow

Well, that certainly works. The combination of Divine Veil and Skolver Coat is now legendary. If you want to use just one shield in all situations, I would recommend Grey Owlite Shield over Crest of Almire. Your weapons have damage types normal, elemental, elemental, which is a bit unbalanced. But Shivermist Buster is about crowd control more than damage, so it's not unreasonable.

Suggestion: Replace Leviathan Blade with a piercing sword (Final Flourish or Barbarous Thorn Blade) and a shadow sword (Acheron or Gran Faust). Carry both of these, if you end up with four slots, or just one at a time, depending on the stratum. The piercing sword is especially useful, as it's awesome against beasts and fiends, and quite good against gremlins, and fine against undead too. The shadow sword is less crucial but quite nice. These swords would help you diversify your damage types and hence inflict more damage on monsters.

(Gran) Faust for gremlins and

(Gran) Faust for gremlins and slimes
Dark Briar Barrage for beasts and fiends
Polaris for constructs and undead.

That pretty much covers every damage type and every weapon type :D

Ugh.... I just had to sell my Gran Faust ><

Anyway, if i do end up carrying 2 swords, I should probably take sword trinkets as well? Assuming ASI and Damage?

The three things I would

The three things I would add/change to your general layout is:

- Get a BTB or FF. It is exceptional against some of the hardest mobs in the game (read: Devilites, Greavers, Alpha Wolvers, Trojans).

- If you get a BTB or FF then I'd recommend getting a shadow sword since with two different damage types on swords you perform better than Leviathan against 4 out of 6 mob types and are on par with Leviathan against the other two.

- Consider getting a BTS. In my experience a BTS can take one hit from most enemies. The only things that generally break it are status aligned Lumbers, Vanaduke's Mace (although no damage goes through for me just status so one remedy and I'm good), and Alpha Wolvers (but really what shield can take an Alpha Wolver?). I've become rather proficient with dodging so I only really need to take one or two hits at a time anyway.

It was silly of you to sell

It was silly of you to sell GF, it's the only weapon in the game that can cause curse, which is reason enough to always keep one in stock.

Ok so how does this look

Ok so how does this look then:

Divine Avenger, Gran Faust, BTB, Polaris/Blitz Needle

(I could go Glacius instead of the DA since I already have the recipe line learned, but if I go GF I might as well go DA also and pick up ASI trinkets)

That would be a good

That would be a good all-purpose set. Maybe look for curse resist UVs so you can spam Gran Faust more reliably. And yeah, with those ASI trinkets would suit very well. Polaris is probably the better gun to haul around on a general basis. Additionally have the Shivermist and/or Blitz Needle in your arsenal could be useful at times.

piercing, elemental, shadow

"Divine Avenger, Gran Faust, BTB, Polaris/Blitz Needle"

Another convert to the piercing/elemental/shadow way of thinking. Hooray!

I'd just like to point out that although BTB is more popular than Final Flourish, Final Flourish is just as good.

I'd just like to point out that although GF is more popular than Acheron, Acheron is just as good or arguably better. You could easily go Glacius+Acheron instead of DA+GF. In fact, I used to do DA+GF+BTB, but now I usually do Glacius+Acheron+BTB. In FSC I go DA+Blitz+Shivermist.

Don't underestimate BTB's

Don't underestimate BTB's knockback on charge, it can be almost as strong as Leviathan!

Using Valkyrie helm with

Using Valkyrie helm with Dragon scale mail is good. If you wanna do PVP, Crown of the fallen is better than valkyrie.

All four defenses, plus medium feind and beast bonuses (both weak to peircing), plus half posin and half curse ressist. (with fallen, you get ASI low, half curse weakness and full fire ressist for PVP)

So you've got defense for any level, and you can carry a shadow and an elemental since you don't need a peircing as much.

I used to have Glacius and

I used to have Glacius and DTB =/
Both are sold now and could have been a part of my set... Oh well... at least I still have the recipes learned...
Just built up an Ash Tail Coat and working on my Shivermist and Levi (both 4* level 10 waiting for 800 ce each)
Wondering if Levi could replace any of the swords in my set or if i should just sell the Ascended Calibur...

stop selling stuff

I recommend that you stop selling stuff. Maybe I'm naive about the amount of money that can be made, but I think that you want to get more information about how these swords behave, before you discard them. That is, don't sell them, but don't upgrade them immediately, either. At least half of the cost in making a 5-star item is in upgrading from 4-star to 5-star. So put off upgrading from 4-star to 5-star until you know you want the 5-star version.

Leviathan Blade and Cold Iron Vanquisher have awesome charge attacks, for two reasons. First, if you're stuck in a crowd, you can blast everything around you. But be careful doing this in a party. Second, if the enemies don't get knocked back (e.g. they're stationary), then you can hit three times for huge damage. This is more easily done with CIV than with Levi, because it has lower knockback. Despite all this praise, there is little reason to own either Levi or CIV, if you are going to be carrying at least two swords.

hmm another thing im stuck

hmm another thing im stuck on...
just got 30 almirian seals... i could buy the blackened crest... but i already have a grey owlite shield (and probably going to get the snarb shield anyways)

or...

i could save up for fang of vog and save around 1200ce from not making a new glacius...
to my knowledge the FoV is a half decent sword with a very potent charge attack (though the risk of it hurting myself is pretty great)
but is it really worth it?

Also an update on the route I've decided to go:
Just got my Ash Tail Coat to level 10, working on getting enough ce to craft it into a Skolver Coat and crafted a Nightblade and an Iceburst Brandish and working on getting those to 4* before farming Snarbolax runs to get my third and final Snarble Barb. I find fast, 3-hit blades to be more appealing and I figure they'll offer more synergy if I stack Sword Damage via trinkets and shield. Of course I may put a hold on the Glacius if I decide to go Fang of Vog (that is unless someone convinces me not to)

CoA, FoV, FF

Well, at some point you're going to want to have a shadow shield, and it might as well be Crest of Almire. So that's valuable.

I've never used FoV, but I've read about and observed its behavior. It's slower than a Brandish. In regular attacks, it does less damage than a Combuster. Its charge attack is awesome — basically Leviathan/CIV with lots of fire — but I think you need some serious fire armor/trinkets/UVs to avoid killing yourself with it. I mean, this thing will ignite you. And it's probably not a great choice in FSC. So it seems that it's not a very practical choice for your only elemental sword. But maybe some more knowledgeable people will disagree.

The rest of your progress sounds good. At the risk of being annoying, I must point out that your Snarbolax-farming process could be replaced with simply buying a 2-star Flourish, recipe or premade (because FF is just as good as BTB).

can't go wrong running around

can't go wrong running around with a polaris, it's great keeping T3 (fast) lumbers away, and offcourse undead. gunpuppy's stop shooting when they get hit by the explosion (in T3 they fire bullets in sequence instead of all at the same time)

my weapon set

DA
GF
LEVI (i use this instead of piercing because i just don't like the piercing swords)
polaris

but now i'm just running 1 sword + polaris and don't have any problems (only devilites but even with a piercing sword they are just anoying, wolvers i can handle with the gran faust and even in T3 get out without beeing hit once)

The only reason I would farm

The only reason I would farm Snarb for the sword is because I already have the recipes for the 3 and 4 star recipes but then again I can make back the cost of that in a little bit more than one FSC run.

I do think I prefer the BTB charge though (plus it can pass through barriers). The FF charge seems lackluster compared to this even though it does do massive single target damage.
