The sun shone on what was arguably a good day. Drake came out to stretch his limbs for the first time in 3 days, having spent that time in the infirmary getting patched up.

“Looks like a great day today, eh Enzer?” Drake smiled lightly at his friend, who just grunted.

“…Not for all of us.” Enzer replied, looking over to the side.

Ange just sat there, on a rock, staring emptily into space. She’d been like that since they picked her unresisting body from the Core terminal and dragged her back to Haven.

She barely spoke. She barely moved. She barely even cared about anything anymore. When someone asked her what was wrong, all she would say was: “Max is gone.”

Even Feron didn’t ask her about what happened to Max. He needed a report, but he knew talking about Max to Ange was now forbidden ground. Instead, he had to get what he could from Enzer and Drake.

Drake sighed. “…I don’t know…”

Enzer raised an eyebrow. “…You don’t know what?”

“I don’t know what to do anymore.” Drake sighed again.

“We achieved what we set out to do. We beat the Jelly kin- MAX, beat the Jelly king. Then we had to chase him back into the clockworks. Now, he’s gone.”

Drake shook his head lightly. “Now, I don’t even know what to do anymore.”

Enzer sighed as he reclined on the grass. “I know what you mean Drake. I hear ya.”

He looked back over to Ange. “She’s taking this really hard. I haven’t seen her react this badly. Ever.”

Drake nodded. “It’s hard to believe she’s this upset over someone we barely know. He must have really gotten to her for her to care this much that fast.”

They both sighed heavily.

Suddenly, a runner came sprinting up to them, the one in the magic hood, stumbling a bit along the way.

“Ange, Drake, Enzer!” The runner gasped as he reached them. “A message…from…Feron…” The runner obviously took his job seriously.

“What is it?” Enzer said, annoyed. He really didn’t feel like being disturbed, especially now, when his leader was in the state she was.

The runner gulped down a big breath before continuing. “The Royal Jelly, the one Max destroyed, He’s Back!”

The moment those words left the runner’s mouth, Enzer and Drake were on their feet.

“Did he just say…?” They said simultaneously, before sensing some movement behind them.

Ange had gotten up, standing tall for the first time in days.

Drake ran over to her. “Ange? What’s wrong? What’s the matter? You okay? Speak to me!” He shook her shoulders lightly.

Ange just pried Drake’s hands off her shoulder. “…The Jelly King…he returned…after Max destroyed him?” Her question was more of a statement, and Drake simply nodded, too nervous to do anything else.

Ange nodded slowly, then walked in the general direction of the Arcade.

“Ange? Where are you going?” Enzer followed up quickly behind her.

Ange didn’t even slow down for him. “I’m going to finish what Max started.”

“What are you talking about? Ange, tell us what’s going on!” Drake demanded.

Ange didn’t seem to notice Enzer and Drake’s distress, focusing only on where she was going.

“Time to finish the mission.” She gripped Lady Grey tightly.

“The Jelly King dies TODAY.”

Ange blames the Jelly king because the battle with him was the cause of Max's initial near-death, causing him to lose his memory and therefore to her is the root cause of all subsequent events that lead to similar situations, and even though all that happened, JK didn't die.

And he came up first. Tinkinzar having dropped off the radar and Vana too far out of reach.

They tried, remember? Drake was doing it.

Did you read the note in between? The song was from Birth by sleep, the opening video when you start up the game.

But, this scene was based off the song, and there are tonnes of co-incidental parallels.

Even if I didn't see the video, but had the song, the result would be the same; the scene would still have been written the same way.
