im free2play and have a polaris. should i get a DA?
ash tail cap
sunset duster
2 slots
(silent) nightblade
iceburst brandish
snarble barb.......... ill have to work on upgrading that.........
sword+gun
fiery+freeze vaps mk2
gravi charge
SwiftStrike Buckler
twisted targe
4* owlite
also, its only a gigawatt pulsar......... i wuz just too lazy to right it out......lol......
ive already read that, i do carry the most appropriate, etc.
and im in t3
all i want to know is if its worth getting the DA cuz i already have an ele weapon and im not gonna spend 5 bucks on a weapon that has the same type as a weapon that i already have if its not super duper extremly awesomely good.
its just that the DA is beast, has an awesome charge attack, and does more damage(my nightblade does more dmg vs. silkwings than my gun-_-)(seriously)
so's ur face
*kills rangerwill*
mwahahahaha,
CN(Chuck Norris)
DA is good, but I find the other elemental swords roughly as good. So no, I would not say that DA is "super duper extremely awesomely good". It's not going to change your life or anything like that. If you're really trying to spend as little extraneous CE as possible, then no, you don't need it.
The only weapon in this game, that I have felt is "super duper extremely awesomely good", is the piercing swords (Final Flourish, Barbarous Thorn Blade).
Bopp makes a good point, but it's worth bearing in mind that the DA's alchemy root, the Sealed Sword, is a Boss Token recipe; it's a small thing, but when you're playing for free, it means you're saving ¢4k on the cost of the recipe and potentially making further profit from doing the Jelly Palace runs you need to get the tokens in the first place.
I dunno if this has any bearing on your decision, but it's worth considering.
I'm largely F2P at the moment, and my Avenger has served me extremely well. But you've already got that Iceburst Brandish, which is going to do the same job damage-wise, so you're probably better off leaving the Sealed Sword line alone.
Effrul also makes some good points. Certainly Depths 15 and 16 of the RJP are profitable. Depth 17 is profitable if you don't revive, because you can make a small amount of money selling whatever you get with the Jelly Gems.
But let me point out that getting the Sealed Sword "for free" isn't as good as it might sound, as most of the cost in making a 5-star item is in the last two upgrades. If CE costs 6000 crowns per 100, then upgrading a 4-star item to 5-star costs 78,000 crowns total, and upgrading a 3-star item to 4-star costs 36,500 crowns. (These figures include recipe and crafting costs, but not material costs, if any.)
aha.
ok ty.
i also have an off-topic question:
which would you recommend:
flourish, rigadoon(cuz stun is op even though its really short), or thorn blade?and could you please post some links to threads discussing this?
also, -assuming- i ripped someone off (accidentally) and sold him a faust for 2.5kce + unbind, what should i do with the ce?
Get a regular Flourish. Rigadoon doesn't have stun that often to make it useful and make up for the damage reduction. Thorn blade is as great as Flourish.
As for the CE you made off of that sucker, I would suggest upgrading your Flourish to make it a 4* weapon. This way it's still neat for T2 and T3.
aha ok.
now, another question:
the twisted/thorn blade recipes are WAAAAY more expensive than the flourish ones. is this still worth it?
they may be more expensive on the acution house, but they are the same from vendor. start merchant hunting.
yeah but im too lazy for that-_-
also is there a big difference between the flourish/thorn blade's 4 and 5 star versions?
The Snarble Barb line has a very handy arc-spread missile attack, sort of similar to the DA's, whereas the Flourish charge is a focused combo attack. I don't know what their damage outputs are like relative to each other, but the SB certainly covers more ground.
yeah yeah i already knew that so that doesnt answer my question.........
so:
dark thorn blade gains snarby chomp. how good is this?
can anyone confirm incredible knockback on thorns charge?
piercing>fiends and beasts, but fiends and beasts dodge projectiles..... does this affect snarb's charge?
The Snarby Chomp is just for aesthetics, it does no damage. But it does look spiffy! /chomp
The thorns have good knockback, not room clearing knockback, a la Leviathan. I'd say it is similar knockback to the second swipe of a heavy sword. When the BTB's charge is released, you step back half a square so that also provides defensive room. But this means that if you want all the projectiles to connect, like on a Trojan, you must directly against them when you release the charge.
It does cause dodging, but you tend to hit them prior to the dodge, especially given the charge's wide arc. I've never found the dodging to be an issue.
Besides the chomp, the 5* Barb Thorn has additional projectiles. I think that's about it for differences compared to 4*.
(Also, there are a dozen rich threads about the Flourishes, you'll receive a wealth of info by searching for other threads.)
so i got a flourish dmg vs fiend med.
should i upgrade that or my snarble barb?
I think the barb looks cooler, but damage vs fiend med is a decent uv for flourish. It should be noted however that all damage bonuses are added together and have a max value of 6 (med has a value of 2), if you are planing of going the skolver/snarby+thorn sheild rout, or use strike trinkets, then the bonus on the sword will be wasted because your already at max damage bonus. If thats not the plan i would keep the flourish, if that is the plan you may consider selling the flurish to finance other items.
You've told us very little so far, so we can't give you very good advice. What are your other weapons? How many weapon slots do you use at a time? Do you always use a mixture of swords and guns, or do you sometimes go pure sword, or use a bomb, or what?
While we await that information, you might want to read the wiki page on Damage. In short, you want to have a piercing weapon, an elemental weapon, and a shadow weapon. If you can carry all three, then do; if not, then carry the two that seem most appropriate to the stratum, based on the gate map. Use the weapons against the appropriate monsters to deal as much damage as possible.
Polaris does elemental damage, and DA does normal+elemental. So a weapon setup with just these two weapons is poorly balanced. It would be very ineffective against gremlins and beasts, in particular.
