Vana deals normal damage with his mace, but that is pretty easy to avoid. The danger in the throne room is falling ceilings, shadow fire and fire balls - which cause elemental damage & cause fire (which itself deals elemental damage)

So the best defence for the vana fight is elemental + fire resist (hence the popularity of Vog). Pretty much everything else in FSC deals shadow damage so consider that for UVs, although most of it can be avoided...

Correction

Fire deals special Fire damage, cannot be reduced with elemental or anything, unless you have Fire resistance on the armor.

I stand corrected...

However many of the damage sources in fsc that also inflict fire status deal elemental damage in their initial attack so my recommendation of elemental + fire res is still sound.

lol

you're turning this into some fancy philosophical argument.

Or maybe he's explaining his position! That's not what "fancy" or "philisophical" mean, Ehsan.

Bindi-Badgi is right - Vana doles out Normal and Elemental damage. He also summons Slag Walkers in the early stages that do Shadow damage, but honestly you shouldn't have any trouble with these guys after the non-stop zombie festival of the FSC run-up. Later on he summons Slag Guards, who do Piercing damage and are more of a hassle.

So yeah, Vog Cub is extremely popular because it defends exactly against Vanaduke's damage output, but I tend to take along something with some Shadow defence for the preceding levels.

@ Ehsan

How is anything I have said fancy or philosophical, or an argument for that matter? The answer to OP's question is not straightforward due to the varied damage types in fsc. There is no right answer, only opinion and preferance, I put forward mine...
