"Teamwork is Number 1!" you say

And also " Character – A good person who is helpful to others".
And yet your test for proficiency is based on beating bosses SOLO rather than, say, the ability to slay monsters while avoiding taking damage, or the ability to fight well as a party member. Just seems kind of curious.

the tests are the run PLUS

the tests are the run PLUS the solo boss. and the officer test is entirely team based. also they clearly emphasize lack of damage taking. do you really spend your time criticizing other peoples guilds? if you dont like it, im sorry to hear that.

Hi Maw. Thanks for your post.

Hi Maw.

Thanks for your post. We were very impressed with you the entire run. But you were just short of making it.

Keep in mind that you CAN be part of the guild without having to take ANY Promotion test.

The tests are for players who have a strong desire to want to advance themselves within the guild and become better players. We set HIGH goals for everyone and we help you achieve them!

Shoot, if I wasn't GM and I didn't have to do all this work, I'll be a Recruit and I'd be happy with it. :)

Also, a Guild website is in the works and guild events as well!

Stay tuned!

" we are open to any and all suggestions to improve the guild"

This was more of a question/suggestion than a criticism. While it certainly takes a lot of skill to beat a boss solo, certain weapons and knowledge of the tricks also helps a great deal. I actually admire what you are trying to do in this guild. I hope your guild becomes place for high level players to socialize. I do not belong to a guild for various reasons, so my comments were not intended as the jealous sniping of a competitor. I played with 2 of your members earlier today on a JK run. i was curious to see if i could pass your test. Unfortunately, I was not able to beat JK solo as it was only my second time ever even trying such a feat. However, I thought I more than held my own as a team member. Your members seemed nice, but if your requirement for advancement is based predominantly on soloing against bosses, that hardly seems consistent with your goal of attracting skillful, well-equipped TEAM players. I thought perhaps this was a guild that might finally be worth belonging to, but I do not wish to remain a lifelong recruit. Best of luck to you all.

"Final Message: Play well and make friends!"

Hi Maw. You gave us a lot to think about. New guild creation is never perfect and we are always striving to improve our policy.

Perhaps if you have let us know your thoughts after the run before leaving we could have this addressed at that time. Your suggestions are noted. Thanks!

in light of mawashimonos

in light of mawashimonos post, we want to emphasize the team running of the pre boss levels are JUST as important as you soloing aspects of the tests. you will be graded on both parts, rest assured. however, you must excel at both parts. there is a chance that you could solo the boss but have done terribly on the run.

furthermore, both testers in any promotion runs must agree that BOTH parts of the run went well for the promotion to occur.

Nice guild name. Maybe part of my name is inside. Lol.

I can vouch for the skills of this guild as I have done shadow run with the Guild master EM and Ash.( I played quite badly in fact )

A soloist will still shine on team runs knowing the fact in what they need to do in a challenging run like ufsc.

I would love to run again with u guys soon.

Best reg

/bump

I've clarified a few items in the above post and made it more pretty.

Two major changes:

*Exceptional candidates NOT meeting gear requirements are still encouraged to apply! Member Test will be required immediately. Upon successful completion of Member Test, applicant will be offered an invitation to join the guild with the rank of Member.

^ If you can pass the Member Test in less than 4.5 gear, then you are welcome to join us. You earned it.

Veteran rank test
- Lord Vanaduke (Veteran tester will have access to ALL other players' vials and vitapods).

^ To accommodate for the health increase by each party member.

Seems like...

Seems like this would actually be a very interesting guild so far. As for my own assumptions of the name "Cloud Nine" and all that good stuff, prolly you guys could become the 'strongest' guild if you're compensating for everyone's teamwork and all together (As in all your 'nine' members)

A good recommendation for your guildies sometimes, you might not want to just push your members so hard. It's not really all about skills, but at least if you guys can all have fun together, that's pretty much what a guild's purpose is. However, with that fun-- Doesn't mean the players can't be skilled, just saying.

Make good friends out of each other, know each other well, communicate, help others, and all those things, your guild might become well known someday. If there's anything you'd like assistance of or something, feel free to just come talk to me.

Cheers,
Rgn-Vertigo, Shadow Mercenaries-- Guild Master.

Vertigo: We dont PUSH our guild members to do anything. They can do any test whenever they like, pressure free. And I dont think we will be requiring your assistance, but thanks! I have been running a guild since around the time of Steam Release. Also we do not just have 9 members.

Try 36 ACTIVE members and counting. Our activity is comparable to a 100-man guilds on a nightly basis. Two nights ago we had 4-man Vanas and 4-man JKs in-house AT THE SAME TIME. And we have not peak yet in terms of membership. Teamwork is a requirement as part of PROFICIENCY. If you can't contribute to a run, you are holding yourself back and the TEAM. Just as much as attitude is in consideration. If you happen to be an asshat, you won't be invited to the guild no matter how good you are PERIOD. We are not aiming our guild to be the "strongest", we aim to improve ourselves everyday and in this game. AND we have fun doing it :)

Ok. I'm very tired of repeating myself over and over in-game and here.

Our guild is VERY laid back. And we have fun together!

These Rank tests are for our members who wish to improve in rank with a CLEAR and FAIR method of doing so (kissing an Officer's ass means nothing). Our RANKS are EARNED and ACHIEVED through HARD WORK which is more than I can say for a majority of guilds out there. ANY guild member has a FAIR shot at becoming an Officer in the guild (actually if you notice, the Officer test is easier than the Veteran test).

If you READ VERY CAREFULLY, you can join this guild as long as you meet the gear requirements (4.5 star and up). And you will NEVER EVER have to take ANY sort of test if you do not want to AND YOU CAN STILL BE IN THE GUILD. BUT IF you do and you pass, you will have ACHIEVED a RANK that you earned STRAIGHT UP and NO ONE can take that away from you.

In short, if you CARE ENOUGH ABOUT SILLY IN-GAME RANKS, then you will HAVE to CARE ENOUGH to pass our tests. If you don't care about ranks, and you have the right gear and attitude, then welcome to the party.

We just happen to be VERY ORGANIZED which is why I believe a lot of you guys have beef with us. Our GMs/Officers care for our guild and we take it upon ourselves to get to know each and every one of our guild members. If a guildie wants to learn to become better, we can set up an appointment for JK solo sessions or just flat out ask me or an Officer for tips.

We have guild membership requirements just like everyone else. Ours just so happens to be different than most. And if you feel like our requirements are too tough (in actuality to JOIN it is just a simple gear check), then you are welcome to go elsewhere to the hundreds of guilds out there with vague or half-ass promotion methods.

Make good friends out of each other, know each other well, communicate, help others, and all those things, your guild might become well known someday. If there's anything you'd like assistance of or something, feel free to just come talk to me.

Oh we will. Except for the talking part. That's a toss up. Thanks for the suggestions. It has been noted.

I should add that ashiram is being nice, we DO aim to be the strongest. Also, it seems that the only case I can think of where people would be this outspoken against a guild is the simple case where those people do not have the skill to beat the tests themselves.
