So!

As near as I can tell, there is no point to the Prismatech Alchemer right now. It has Elemental damage-type, which is also the same for the Cyrotech/Firotech/Voltech versions(Shadowtech has Shadow, so it's a different class of it's own). The others, however, all have a chance of applying their respective status aliment. Prismatech, has nothing.

Now I'm not an expert player by any means, but Prismatech strikes me as a very boring gun. I realize it's 'advantage' is probably SUPPOSED be that there ISN'T a chance of random fire/shock(I'm looking at you, Oilers/Quicksilvers), but I'm not sure the gain outweighs the loss(speaking personally I'd be swording those things anyhow since I can't run-and-gun against those fast bugggers).

My suggestion, therefore, is as follow: Give Prismatech Alchemers the chance to apply at least the primary three Statuses(Fire/Freeze/Shock), if not Poison and Curse as well. This chance would probably need to be a touch or so lower than the other Alchemer's affect-chances, to balance the advantage of having all three+ statuses able to be proc'd.

This makes sense in my mind, since 'Prismatech=Prismatic=has everything'. Would also be kinda cool, and rather risky. You'd have to decide if ou want to risk shooting an Oiler/QUicksliver(orwhateverelse), knowing you might make things worse. At the same time, if almost every shot splits and has a NEW chance to apply a /different/ ailment, then you could end up with a mob of baddies with some frozen, some on fire, and other shocked at your amazing awesomness(ow the pun).

Eager to hear how stupid this idea is! :D

i like the concept of it

i like the concept of it having a random chance to inflict different statuses. but people might avoid it because its unpredictable.

a more realistic tweak migt just be giving the weapon a slight damage increase over the others. theyre all inflicting the same damage currently, right?

i havent looked at the materials required, but its probably just that the other guns have rarer materials, so since you but in better mats, you get a better gun.

but i do get the fact that the name is prismatech, which sounds more impressive than it might actually be lol.

Yeah, a flat +damage would

Yeah, a flat +damage would probably be simplier, but I find that concept boring. :P THen again, I'm slightly crazy.

Still, something to set it apart from the others, even if it's just +damage, would be nice.

back in my day

i think prismatech does a teensy weensy bit more base damage, but not enough for me to care, since if i was going for DPS i wouldn't be using a gun

prismatech used to have a + versus undead but this was really overkill since they're already weak to Elemental

it was also necessary to have a prismatech to craft any of the other more tasty alchemers (in the same way that the mediocre haze bomb turns into three different lovely vaporizers)

since both of these no longer apply, prismatech doesn't have a place anymore -- the MK2 and upgrades really seem to be for people too unlucky to get the materials or recipes for the other flavors

i agree that the shadow driver looks similar but ISN'T actually in the same basket due to the rarity and utility of shadow damage from player weapons

Prismatech does, in fact,

Prismatech does, in fact, have slightly more damage output. It's literally the difference of 4 pixels in the power meter on the base versions. Though it does not seem to be reflected in later versions.

Does anyone find the

Does anyone find the Prismatech Alchemer bugged? My shots seem to pass through most things, and instead do their damage when they explode at the end of their range. Is this intended?
