I like how you guys all whine and whine and whine about elevator costs, and begged for things like "subscription fees" to make elevators temporarily "free" of energy cost and such, and now that they're trying it out you're all freaking out like it's the end of the world and OOO is Teh Ebil.
30-day elevator pass
I want to know also because I will be out of country soon. If this promo will only last a short period of time (e.g. this week only), I may stock up some passes first.
And would OOO consider a Shadow Pass for Shadow Lairs?
You can't "stock up some passes"; passes are activated instantly, they can't be saved or traded. The point of it being limited-time is so OOO can see what happens before deciding whether to make it permanent, not to encourage everyone to buy thousands of them now and resell them when the trial ends.
I would actually consider getting this as a F2P-er it seems like a bargain (coming from someone who paid sub fee for WoW). Just because I've been in a SK kick recently and wanted to play a bit more than the 100 Mist I'm limited to. I'm kinda busy though with school and I have essays and stuff to do, so I don't know if it would be so much of a bargain with school.
The thing is though, I'm only cleared for T2 access, so whether I make enough cr to make is worthwhile too.
This seems like a cool idea though, but I do wonder about the impact it will have on energy prices. I prefer buying CE with CR, I hop it doesn't cripple F2P-ers. :(
We'll see...
How long is this going on for? And does anyone have estimations for the cr earned for JK and or Twins runs? :P
CE is at 6,500cr for a buy offer and 6,680 for a sell already. It was around 6,200 to buy CE four hours ago when I went out. It looks like CE prices are rising.
@57
CE was only briefly at 6200 earlier, if it even was. It has been steadily at or around 6400 for the past 16 hours(yes, I have no life atm, I've been checking), and while it did spike up to 6570 briefly after the update, currently it is back down to 6420.
Spikes up and down are expected, and are not significantly different from the normal flow of the CE market. It would be an indicator of inflation if the CE price went up by 200 crowns and stayed there for some amount of time(days, weeks).
Maybe it's something to do with being online at different times but I've been seeing CE at 6.2-6.3k for several days. Another 200cr may not be a massive rise but.. well I think it's going to keep going up.
Dang, this sounds like a neat idea, but at the same time, I can't help but wonder that some of us had our efforts wasted and the stuff we got and wanted, and then we see another guy that has the same stuff as us.
It looks like CE prices are rising.
i agree with Huhbum's reply, CE was 6.4kcr before the release announcement. However, I'd also like to point out Huhbum's earlier observation: "Also, simply the perception of inflation can make inflation occur". You see this with power surge weekends also. Right after the announcement, everyone thinks that the CE exchange rate will go up, so they buy a bunch of "cheap" CE, thus causing the exchange rate to go up.
Remember: the people most likely to buy this elevator pass are people who are currently buying a lot of CE on the market in order to run gates. Sure, they will have more crowns, but they have less need for CE, so they will likely spend these extra crowns on getting UVs via punch, or buying expensive stuff on the AH. Things like accessories are where you are more likely to see prices rising.
@61
While your claim is sensible, keep in mind that there may also be elevator pass buyers who before now primarily ran gates purely on Mist Energy rather than CE. These types of players would buy CE to craft better gear. Now, however, since those players can run far more gates than previously, they generate far more crowns per time spent and still buy CE on the market.
(Just as a minor aside)Also, focusing the discussion strictly on CE market prices, neglects another market system affected: the AH. The potential influx of raw crowns into the market may affect buy/sell prices on the AH.
As said earlier by OOO in this thread, they're waiting to see who buys the passes and how they use them. I think this information will entirely determine how the market(s) are affected.
someone know for how long this purchase is gonna be available???
its the first time that i'm interested in purchase, i think the price is not so hgh and if you can play for at least three hour is quite good.
i mean i'm all time short of energy and crown, i don't like to buy energy coz i'm gonna influence the market, but in this way a can ammount a lot of crown and don't bother anyone.
At the end of the day, if you get a day pass, you effectively get 3000 CE (Mist that you would use for CE related purposes.) and unlimited gameplay. It's great news, really. I finally have a excuse to complete all my tier 2 clearances. :D But like everyone, I can't say I'm not worried about the economy going kaput.
Though anyone else see recipe prices dropping as a result?
Well, this actually isn't as rage-inducing or harmful as I originally thought it was going to be, so that's a good thing.
I rather like the idea that it's only for elevators, not unlimited CE, and that it isn't purchasable with in-game currency, but $6?
That's really, really cheap OOO.
In all honesty, I think that this should be a bit more expensive ($10-ish), otherwise all I can think of is the economy imploding on itself.
But otherwise, I actually don't think this is a bad idea.
HOORAY.
First off, CE prices can fluctuate by a couple hundred crowns on an hourly basis. The price also tends to go through cycles based on the time of day. The price being 200 crowns different than it was this morning is not in any way strange or unusual.
Secondly, it takes 30 days to gain the full benefits of an elevator pass. Any changes in the energy market during the first day they're available, or even during the first week, and probably anticipation, not effect. That just shows what the majority of players think will happen to the energy market, not the true long-term effect.
In fact, since a lot of players are probably buying elevator passes instead of direct crystal energy, there's probably less crystal energy available right now, while the benefits of elevator passes will take a while to accumulate. So even without player speculation, it's not hard to imagine that prices would go up for a couple days and then quickly drop back down.
Thirdly, the energy ask price spiked to at least 6.74k yesterday, before this was announced. The market is still stabilizing after the effects of the crown glitch and then OOO auctioning off rare accessories, so it's less stable than usual, and the average price from the last 24 hours could very well be different from what the average price would have been tomorrow even if OOO had done nothing.
In summary: it's WAY too soon to tell what's happening.
I like the elevator subscription. Now when I have a day off and want to just run the Clockworks I don't have to dip into my CE pool. And I'll have ME left over to bribe Krogmo at the end of the day or put a friend on the tab.
Right now I'll use up the ME on my main doing 1.5 runs (like part of a T3 run then just RJP, for example.) Then I would switch over to an alt to go recipe hunting until it is out of ME too. Now I can just stay on my main and keep going. I'm not sure the minimum I'd need to play per day over my usual mist amount to make $6 a month worthwhile (vs just buying CE and using that for elevators) but I think it is around almost 1 full T3 run a day. Averaged out over a week, I definitely do that.
Small request - change the payment cutoff for the test server to $5.95 instead of $9.95. That way monthlies can still test without having to buy an extra $4.95 to reach the cutoff.
You don't have to play a fixed amount per day, since so long you spend all your mist everyday, crafting or bribing Krogmo, any amount you do play is covered by the elevator pass. So your binge days would likely more then make up for it. :D
It's a great deal. I'm even thinking about getting it for my sister, and she doesn't even play much.
CE has not hit 6200 since the weekend auctions. I've got orders in above 6200 and they have yet to be filled.
Also, I'm one of those pure-mist runners who bought the elevator pass. Never bought CE with cash before, and don't plan to in the future either. (I don't like the idea of buying my way to victory).
I'm still not convinced that the elevator passes will be good for the game, but I guess time will tell.
It looks like Culture beat me to making this request while I was responding to a distress call from within the Clockworks. I would like to second the suggestion to reduce the test server "fee" to $5.95 - at least for the next 30 days. I'll admit I chose to pass on the Halloween sale from 2 weeks ago because I wouldn't be getting test server access with my purchase.
The pass costs around 2000 CE, or the equivalent of USD.... if each level nets you an average of 500 crowns, and CE costs 7K each (making up numbers that are somewhat accurate, not measured), then thats 14 levels for 100 ce, and 280 levels for the full 2000 that you could have bought. From then on, you'd make a tremendous profit.
ok if OOO will make a massive crownsink will you people shut up? or are you going to start whining that the krogmo entrance fee is to high?
not much is going to change you know... how many people have enough time to do 4 maybe 5 runs a day? next to none... (so they save about 200CE???) i will be buying this, not to make a massive ammount of crowns but to enjoy running trough the clockworks not needing to keep an eye out that i won't use to much energy... and still i will only be able to do like 2 or 3 bossruns a day (wich i could do before this pack came out but sinking in some money for CE)
and the constant ranting "oooh the CE prices are going to shoot trough the roof" how many times did people tell you people that before SK went on steam it used to be over 8K for 100CE
stop you whining and just pay 6 friggin bucks! (just take out the trash for a week, or do some chores!)
your parrents will even give you 6 bucks just to get rid of your whining...
sorry that i sound like an ogre but i'm sick of the constant whining about CE prices. GIVE OOO A BREAK if you don't like it YOU develop a game...
As said, they did this pretty well. $6 worth at least 1800 ce, so you'd need to make 3600 ce through runs. If you assume you make 10 ce on a floor, that's 360 runs, or 12 floors a day, or something like 2 hours a day. The people who buy large amounts of ce probably don't have that much time to put in the game.
If you're willing to put any money into this game, then the pass is an incredible deal. Any sane person who has bought CE before or is considering buying CE should buy a pass. Unless you "play" Spiral Knights by buying a ton of CE, purchasing great items on the auction house and then running around Haven showing them off without ever delving into the Clockworks. But nobody does that.
If you're a weathered veteran who only logs into the game to do a few daily activities, then you should probably give it a miss. But if you're an average player in the thick of things who's willing to run through your mist each day on elevator fees, the pass is far and away better than buying CE in terms of the amount of money you pay for it.
The concern with CE prices is that the pass might be too good of a deal to the point where it starts to screw over players who don't buy one. But if you want to know whether or not to buy a pass, the answer is yes, buy one. It's an amazing offer. You just need to find an alternate use for your mist each day (craft stuff).
---
@73 buying a pass doesn't get you immunity from increasing energy prices; you still need energy. The inner game mechanics of energy in Spiral Knights are beautiful and also very fragile. I intend to buy a pass because I would be stupid not to. I buy CE from time to time. And yet I really don't think this will have a positive effect on the game. Clockworks runs are already free + profit if you do them right. There's really no reason to worry about energy even if you don't have a pass.
And you do need to consider that even p2p players may want to earn a noticeable portion of their wealth through clockworks runs instead of just buying CE (e.g. maybe you only want to pay $20 every month). If CE prices go up significantly, the game becomes that much closer to "lol just pay for your stuff with real money because it's the only way to get it." I'm not radical enough to think the game will actually get to the point where the Clockworks is utterly meaningless, but any step in that direction can only be seen as a bad thing.
---
Moar math:
In the current system, the amount of crowns earned on any given floor was effectively reduced by 650, the price of 10 CE. On a decently profitable floor you'd earn say 1500 crowns, so your profit would be 850 crowns, which you can then convert back into CE for 13 CE.
If you have a pass, your profits go up to 23 CE at current market prices. If the majority of players buy passes, then I would expect the number to gravitate back to ~13 CE via increased energy prices. That would mean the price of energy would rise from 6500 to 11500. But there's no particular reason why the 13 CE number should stick.
In a perfectly logical market, the price of CE would adjust itself such that the value of a pass is equal to buying the corresponding amount of CE. $6 is worth 2400 CE. How many crowns is a pass worth? I would say about 400k (650 cr/floor x 20 floors/day x 30 days). So 400k crowns should equal 2400 CE. That raises the price all the way to 16500 (varies based on average number of floors/day among all players and some other things). But this is ignoring the fact that you can only buy one pass at a time, which limits how heavy of an impact there will be. This can however be seen as the threshold of CE prices above which buying a pass would be a bad idea. CE prices are much lower, which is why the pass is such a good deal.
What I expect to happen is somewhere around 20% of players buy passes, and the price of CE sort of rises to meet their increased crown supply, but not all the way to the aforementioned 11500 because not everyone has a pass. This should further extend the gap between people willing to pay and people not willing to pay.
But SK's market is anything but logical, and it's not beyond imagining that the increased CE supply due to less elevator-sink does drive the price way down. Whatever happens, players will, probably, somewhat arbitrarily decide a "correct CE price" and then sell there until some external event shakes the market loose again.
In a perfectly logical market, the price of CE would adjust itself such that the value of a pass is equal to buying the corresponding amount of CE.
No, not really. The price of CE adjusting up would happen if everyone was the same and/or all the extra crowns were distributed evenly, but different people have different needs.
People who either don't buy the pass, or never use the cr<->CE exchange won't have an impact on the exchange rate.
People who are currently selling CE for crowns are doing so because they have lots of CE and need crowns. If they had time to just run gates, they would have all the crowns they need, so elevator passes won't help them get more time.
People who are doing things like your calculations, buying CE with crowns, will now have more crowns but less need for CE. Sure, they can throw money into CE that they no longer need as much, but they can also spend it on UVs (punch), or expensive things on the AH.
I agree with Antistone: In summary: it's WAY too soon to tell what's happening.
I think the whole 30-day elevator pass is an interesting idea, introduced at a keen price point, I am glad 3 Rings are trying it out, it is very good for starting players, as T1 levels do not break even. Perhaps with a little adjustment 3 rings should consider putting one into the starter pack. Personally I am on the fence about if it is right for me, using the same money for CE is more flexible about when it is played with. However CE 1 dollar will buy you 35 gates. So break even is 6*35 or 210 gates a month or 7 a day, which is very easy to use, this is quite easy to do you don't have to think about do I upgrade today or play. I am also glad is is a direct payment, so it does not suck the CE market dry. Ignoring the CE market, the only game play downside is this make more reckless, I like to play efficently so squeeze the best out of my mist.
A killer modification would be if it counted the number of gates you did, and if you did less than 210 in the 30 days you get a refund from Bird Song in CE, for the amount you did not use, that way it will remove the "gamble" from if it is worth it or not for less "pro" players and also 3 rings could charge a little more for it (10 dollars (with gate number adjustment) without players worrying if it will be worth it).
I like this, and will buy one for me, and 2 for my 2 best friends as an early Christmas gift.
I can only work part time, and am usually bored while waiting for my friends to get off work, now I can play by myself without wasting too much CE and mist.
That the worst will happen. We need to stay away from that mindset.
Although I for one will not be buying the pass. I just bought CE (don't you hate when you buy something and then a promotion comes out in the next few days?) but I have no plans to use it outright. Mostly for crafting/slots.
I only play for around my mist energy, give or take a few bits of CE. Then I get bored and play something else, so the pass isn't for me, even with the great deal.
CE price is currently rising above 7000cr now
I'm worried
It sucks you need a credit card to buy that elevator pass. Also, I can't see the option anymore to buy CE with paysafecard?
CE price is currently rising above 7000cr now. I'm worried
What it is today doesn't matter. What it is Wednesday next week will.
For all we know this is people with tons of crowns speculating the price will raise and pushing it forward trying to dump theirs.
Most of my friends who were keeping the market stable before (those giant price walls people love to complain about) stopped doing it after the exploit a lil while ago. So, let's see how the market does for itself for a change :D
How the 30-day pass changed my mindset about gameplay:
Crowns/time not per 10CE
I now consider playtime in crown/heat per unit of time as opposed to per each 10 CE. This means I no longer try to "squeeze" each crown out of a level to maximize my overall profit. While I am leaving a lot on the table in an absolute sense, for a given play session, I am getting more crowns out of it since I will do more levels. For instance, a deconstruction zone in depth 1 was skipped completely since I just ran for the elevator to move on.
Speed recipe runs
In this sense, pre-terminal levels are now considered speed runs to me. Mobs drop few crowns & heat, so I won't go out of my way clearing a room unless I need to. I'll still open boxes though since there is a chance that equip will be there. The goal is to get to the terminal for the recipe (which is the "reward" anyway) and spend time in the more profitable depths. This allows me to fit in more runs in a given play session(let's say 2 hours) even though each run individually made less crowns than a more thorough slow run.
Achievements
It helped me get my Cradle & All and Dauntless Delver Achievements by going through levels as quickly as possible. Quick & no guilt about leaving crowns on the floor? Win-Win.
Easier Gate Progress
Unlocking tiers on each gate to avoid the 200 & 500 crown fees is now far cheaper. If well equipped, you could solo through a T1 from start to finish and focus on the more enjoyable portion of the game. I don't need to scour my friends list to see if I can join someone to minimize elevator costs anymore. I don't need to join at random hoping to be brought down to terminal.
Benefits for F2P Players
This will be great for my friends who don't have passes since I can speed through several pre-terminal depths, and let them join when they want. For instance, they can join 2 levels before terminal if they need recipes, or at terminal if we were going to do a boss stratum. They can also be assured to only spend 10 ME/CE to unlock a tier to avoid fees. This allows them to maximize the profitability of their mist, they just need to wait a few minutes between the runs.
Random invites
By avoiding the fees, when I get random invites from friends to help out for whatever reason (all dead and they need a revive, before a boss, etc.) I now have no cost of joining. There is no elevator cost, no entry fee, and getting 1 boss token is considered profitable.
Depth Fishing
I wasn't going to mention this, but I may as well since it can be discussed. Assuming you have unlocked the tier and avoided the fee, you can join a party randomly in hopes of getting to terminal or something good to avoid doing the earlier pre-terminal depths. This could be very annoying for some parties since they will see someone join (like at the start of depth 10) then leave, and then join again, and leave, etc. I did this before in hopes of getting to terminal, I'm sure it annoyed some teams. It may not work out (like if a someone afk is sitting at Depth 8 with an open party) so it could be faster to just do a speed run through low-profit levels.
Overall
I find that this mindset of playing is far more enjoyable because you can speed through the mundane, and you don't need to spend time calculating whether you should join a run or not. I hope they can continue to offer this because it spices up the game a lot.
-----
For those of you who have the 30-day pass, how has your game play experiences changed?
-----
tl;dr - The pass lets you speed through low-profit levels and spend time on the high-profit levels, quickly unlock fees to save even more crowns, and join random parties at no cost. Skipping the mundane means overall gameplay is more enjoyable than before. Your F2P friends can benefit from this too.
You beat me to making a post like that Sypsy :)
Totally agreed on just about every point. This pass has made/will make my Spiral Knights immersive experience much more fun for me than before. More positive points:
- Not having fun with the group you're in? Just hit leave party, no longer a waste of 10 CE.
- Kicked out of a group before you loaded in? Just return to haven, no longer a waste of 10 CE.
- Nasty or boss level coming up. Group seems like they might not win? No one has hearts/pills left? Go down anyways.
- No longer tempted to boring backtrack in levels to get my energy's worth. Especially in those silly Clockwork Tunnels with the rooms of many switches. I know you mentioned it, but it's awesome enough to say twice.
- No more feeling like I should wait 20 minutes for stupid boring arena levels. Everything is worth doing.
- Click random invite. You're in room 3 of an arena, everyone's dead, and it's 12 mechaknights & menders. Before there would've been some $*#@. Now it's a challenge!
- I now just hop out of arenas after the first room (or second if it's a fun one)... nice fast level.
- Treasure vault? Before: "Bah kind of a waste of my CE". Now: "Awesome!"
- Candlestick keep? Before: "Maybe I should wait... I die sometimes & this level is terrible rewards". Now: "Awesome!" (I really enjoy the levels & the big variety between them). But I'm still a bit leery with a group lol
- It's nice to join friends randomly at any time instead of thinking I should ask them to poke me when they start the next level.
- Friend run out of energy and wanting to play more? Tab him for free :)
- Want to both craft & run dungeons today without feeling like you're wasting money? Now you can.
- Heating up 4 * items doesn't take 2 weeks of mist anymore.
- Extra crowns to waste! I'm sure some people will spend it on tons of CE, but I already have a near-lifetime amount. So instead I spent all my crowns on like 50 maid headbands & lockboxes to stimulate the economy a bit. My next purchase'll likely be an aura after a couple weeks of clockworks diving.
---
Negative points:
- I doubt I'll bother reviving unless I'm after something or with a fun group, I'll just go back to haven and start again. Too conveineinent to just save all my mist now for crafting with 10 items I want to make.
- Speedy players might make the game less fun for people trying to earn everything with their mist.
- Danger rooms are no longer worth doing. Well, I suppose they still are (& fun) if you really want tokens, but there's much better ways to use your mist unless you're a weirdo like me who farms gun puppy rooms. Especially if you or your group is likely to die in there.
Btw, re: Speed recipe runs, if you're solo rushing through stratums 4 & 5 you should kill the monsters too! Some of the 4* & 5* materials are worth more than the profits from finding a great recipe. :)
... for now anyways. The pass might kill both those markets if enough people overdo it.
But I think if everyone just runs through the levels to the good stuff SEGA might not offer passes again in the future. We shall see. Oh, and re: price, that's a good deal! It was an impulse buy for me. $8 would've made me have to consider it a lot, and $10 I'd have taken a pass on it. I probably won't buy another for a few months, but I certainly would if I felt I'd play the clockworks a lot again in the future.
@Sypsy Thanks for that summary. Regardless of what effect the pass has on the overall game, those of us that do buy it will have to change our perspectives on how we play. That's a great overview of the differences.
You will not be able to tab friends for free on your pass.
The sad thing is that most of those advantages of the elevator pass would happen if the cr<->CE exchange rate was down around 2k-3kcr per 100CE. OOO could make that happen by replacing most of the CE sinks in haven with crown sinks, with a conversion factor high enough that the same amount of CE would have been sunk running elevators.
But, an elevator pass is a less radical change. The disparity of fun for F2P may turn this game largely into a P2P game. I'm not sure how the economics of that would effect OOO, I hope for the better. A smaller player base that each pays more means fewer servers and such. Unlike games like Puzzle Pirates, Spiral Knights really doesn't have a lot of team play, and the teams that it does have are tiny. F2P players really don't add much to the game, any role that F2P fill can be filled just as easily by P2P players.
Interesting choices....
Edit:
You will not be able to tab friends for free on your pass.
I suspect what they meant is "tabbing friends is a good way to burn up the unused mist". I pretty sure they know that their friend's elevators still cost energy.
Already got it, but ya price of CE is going to break 7k by the weekend.
i actually can't tell who is causing the CE costs to rise?
because..
f2p obviously didn't buy the $6 elevator pass...
and p2p people... well.. they have CE already, why would they buy an elevator pass to save a little ME?
i think it would be attributed to.. the people who love Spiral Knights.. and are willing to spend $6
because it's them who would buy the elevator pass, and endlessly run clockworks for crowns, to convert to energy..?
Personally I'm p2p, and i wouldn't spend $6 for the elevator pass (I actually don't have enough time to make it worthwhile)
I would have just used the $6 to create 2 new 'paid' accounts and 1500 CE
that way it'll be 200 free ME a day... and 1500 CE and $1 left over = ]
this is the best idea since the brandish line! Cheap price, beast effect, any body with me +1 this. I think its time to get my static capacitor!:D
CE prices look like they're going to be basically around post-glitch, pre-auction prices at around 6.5 to 7 k at this point. Don't think it's going to change any time soon though. Also, I'm pretty sure the price of the pass is going to go up once the the "testing" phase is over, so the impact won't be as large anymore.
Personally, I'm mainly buying the passes now because exams are over. More likely to buy CE when school's back on, if I was going to buy anything at all. My time > Cost of CE, after all.
im saving my crowns, going lockdown and buying my recipes for when it gets better (after i get a prepaid visa im going to buy one)
C'mon, OOO knows what their doing and we should trust them, they didn't do anything bad.
After all, this IS a free to play game.
Thanks OOO for SK
is the pass automatically activated when you buy it?
edit: nvm i re-read the patch notes = \
@Broxaim Yes, the pass activates immediately.
1. It says "Limited Time Only". This means they won't be available for long.
2. Don't be surprised if the pass does get implemented permanently under a $9.95 non-promotional price soon.
3. I've always wondered how OOO would do an optional subscription based alternative to the game. I like it.
4. Raising the pass to $9.95 after the first week would tame CE prices in addition to evening the playing field for F2P players.
5. Wondering if making the $9.95 version of the pass tradable....a hurtful concept or helpful for everyone (P2P, F2P and OOO)
6. Remember that alot of players are able to get full 5* sets without buying straight CE. So this pass idea is actually smart.
7. Anyone with a "Not buying CE cause its' pay to win" mentality now can buy an elevator pass without breaking their silly code of ethics. I've seen players be downtalked because they've bought CE they used for gear...but I can't see people talking low of someone because they payed for their elevator costs rofl =)
8. In my opinion the price of a "Starter Set" just got reduced to $5.95. (And most definitely $9.95 later lol)
I agree with everything Sypsy and Kwizzy said (except for the tabs part, but that's already been pointed out.)
To me, having an elevator pass means I get to play the game I want to play.
- Is a level fun but does not pay out good crowns? Who cares, it's free to get in and it's fun.
- Is a level not fun but has good cr payouts? Speed run it and get to the fun part.
- Worried you'll die in a level? Doesn't matter, try anyway. If you die then it's no big deal.
- Have to back track though half a level to get a few treasure boxes? Leave them, it's not fun to backtrack.
- Don't feel like doing a deconstruction level? Head straight for the elevator and skip it.
- Want to clear earlier floors to avoid crown costs? All it takes it a little time, so just do it.
- Arena not here yet? Don't wait, continue on.
I love elevator passes. I understand what people are saying about the cr/ce economy, but I hope the passes will be here to stay,
I love the idea of the pass. Most of my energy uses lately were for elevator costs so this is absolutely perfect for me. I don't even have to worry if I'm getting the right amount of profit for energy spent. Those aforementioned benefits are awesome.
This pass makes a lot of sense if their F2P vs P2P customer base ratio was not where they wanted it. (too much F2P)
I was going to be 100% F2P when CE was 6,500cr per 100CE. (I just joined SK a week ago) But $6 a month for a fun game? totally do-able. Though I do feel like I have less of a choice, This pass is devaluing crowns a lot and pushing us to 9k/10k per 100CE; A new player running T1 and T2 can only play about 1 run a day for free and earning an additional run every 2-3 days. So really this pass makes the game _technically_ F2P but not practically F2P, it's really a $6/mo subscription. This does ted to shut out the no-other-choice-but-F2P or kiddies, but Wizard 101 is popular enough and that's like $5/6 a month isn't it?
It's done it's job though, Someone who was going to be F2P is going to give them $6. However I'm only likely to pay for about 3 months total before switching back to F2P. But by then I'll have the means to earn a sustaining amount of crowns and will only have enough interest in the game to do a run or two with friends on ME for fun anyway.
For how long will this promo last? It's kind of bad timing that this is released now when school semesters are nearing their end and projects/papers/exams are due/about to be due..
Ah, well. I bet nobody else but me cares anyway
