I've been a swordsman since I started playing, and loved every second of it. Until now. I've noticed I take a lot more damage as a swordsman, versus when I use a few guns and bombs I have laying around (For AH purposes...). My usual set up isL

Helmet: Ash Tail Cap
Armor: Ash Tail Coat
Shield: Dark Thorn Shield
Swords: Silent Nightblade, Boltbrand, Dark Thorn Blade

Can't remember UV's for any of those. Question is, any equipment I can change to help keep my health up. If not, any suggestions for a new weapon set? Probably going to keep the current set for casual play, but if needed, I kinda lean towards bomber more than gunslinger. Monsters dodging shots annoys me more than a failed explosion.

remain swordsman, but with more diverse armor?

Because all your stuff is 4-star, I infer that you're playing on Tier 3. On Tier 3, monsters deal a lot of their preferred damage type. For example, fiends are doing shadow damage to you. But all three of your armor pieces are normal+piercing. How about this: Upgrade one piece of Ash Tail to Vog Cub, to get some elemental protection? Alternatively, make a Divine Veil, to go with your Ash Tail/Skolver Coat. Together, these form an awesome general-purpose armor set. Your swords are very good, as you probably already know.

Yes, I've been ignoring the fact that you actually asked about switching to guns or bombs. The reason is that swords aren't your problem. There are many, many successful swordsmen on Tier 3. Your problem is that on Tier 3, the stakes are much higher. I mean, your armor is better than it was when you played on Tier 1, but the monsters do much, much, much, much more damage than they did on Tier 1. So playing on Tier 3 requires a bit of adjustment. You have to play very carefully, and try not to get hit at all. It just takes practice (and more diverse armor would help). I don't know you, but I suspect that switching to guns or bombs will not magically fix this problem.

In T3 even if your armor is

In T3 even if your armor is perfectly tuned to the damage type you are being hit with, you are going to still take much more damage then in T2.

How are you taking damage? Are you taking damage, because your shield is breaking? or are you say getting hit between swings of your sword?

Also are you using shield canceling techniques? or are you just hacking through your whole 3 swing combo each time?

Hearth pendants? but they are

Hearth pendants? but they are expensive...
Also instead of crafting all new armor, you may try CTR trinkets and become an hybrid sword/bomber

I do use shield canceling

I do use shield canceling techniques, but lag interferes a great deal with that. I will try to change up my armor. Thanks, guys!
