I was wondering whether a CTR or an ASI UV would be better on a Nightblade, as I have just crafted an ASI Med Brandish. Also, is the Swiftstrike Buckler any good? I know it's only 3 star, but its ASI seems very nice to me. I'm expecting it's only used in Tier 2?
Nightblade and Swiftstrike Buckler
Swiftstrike buckler is a great shield and has uses in t3 but as stavsrog said, it's something you want to practice first. When you first enter t3 most people rely heavily on the safety of their shield tO protect them. However over time as you become more familiar with the levels and become better at the game, you start shielding less and less and just dodging more. And this is where swig strike buckler comes into play. Being a swiftstrike user myself, I can tell you that you shouldn't consider using it unless you can do all of CDC (including Vanaduke) with one or two deaths max. For me, I started running CDC without shielding out of pure boredom etc etc and after a while I realized that since I'm not using my shield I might as well use one that provides a bonus. In fsc, the swiftstrike can take one hit from zombies and that's about it. Most everything else will break it and hurt you.

The buckler is pretty nice. I use mine a lot.
Re: Tier 3, it will break after the first or second hit on you. If you're great at dodging monsters (like a bomber), it's ok most of the time. But there are many times where you'd live with any other shield, and die with that one. Polyps are my worst enemy with it - especially if they freeze.
The Nightblade is a fast sword already, so it would benefit very little from an ASI UV (or the swiftstrike buckler). CTR is much more desirable, as it makes and already great shadow sword much better.
I've seen people run the FSC with a swiftstrike buckler, so depending on your skill, you may want to use it also in Tier 3. I just don't dare to do that with mine -yet-.
