Winmillion is normal damage,

Winmillion is normal damage, and enemies like to evade it's shots. If you are going to carry multiple swords, then you don't need normal damage.
I'd suggest a pierce sword, like flourish and a brandish to upgrade.

Brandish + Flourish

I'd get a Brandish and a Flourish (or go win tokens for a Snarble Barb fighting Snarby in T1).

The brandish can turn into a nightblade (shadow damage) or three different elemental swords, so it's versatile. It's a medium-speed three-swing sword, which makes it not too fast and not too slow. All around it's a great place to start.

The flourish or snarble barb will quickly dispatch beasts and fiends, which is always good, and the lunging attack pattern makes them ideal for picking out menders in the middle of a crowded room.

Eventually you might want a sealed sword (to turn into an avenger or faust), but you get those by defeating the Jelly King, so they are more for people who are almost ready for tier 3 than for people who are just starting T2.

Suggestions

There are lots of directions you can go with this. But first things first, need to figure out what kind of swords work for you. There are slow swords, which you can test using Troika and eventually get the Sealed Swords to upgrade from the Jelly Tokens. For three-swing swords, the 2* Brandish is a good sword to try out. Then also there is the fast Cutter and Flourish (you can get a 2* Snarble Barb from Snarbolax's tokens.)

After deciding on a the sword that best fits your play style, need to think about what your 5* sword will eventually become. If you are a swordmaster then you'll want to carry 2-3 swords of different damage types, and these typically don't include a normal sword since that would be outclassed by a specialized one. Check the Damage article on the wiki for details.

Typical two sword loadouts might include:

Slow swords - Divine Avenger, Gran Faust
Three-swing swords - Voltedge, Archeron
Fast swords - Final Flourish, Dread Venom Striker or any 5* three-swing sword

The armor you wear will be somewhat dictated by what swords you prefer too. Vog goes best with the slow swords, Skolver complements the other options since they are already pretty fast. You can also use trinkets from Krogmo to improve your sword's abilities.

The owlite line is very

The owlite line is very popular as its elemental defense is very important, the other good shield line for swordies is the bristling buckler line because of the damage bonus it gives to swords, this is also something you get from Snarbolax tokens.

Or you can check out the

Or you can check out the Volcanic Plate Shield if you like big riot shields. It's not the best but it's still viable and it's COOL.

Calibur and a Nightblade or

Calibur and a Nightblade or Acheron
This will help you with jelly levels quite a bit (what you will be farming in tier 2)
Then for tier three you will want to get
Avenger + Flourish 4*/Barb thorn blade 4*
Some people can't handle the power of the avenger because it is very slow, if this is you, get a shock brandish instead.

Nothing Else is even remotely viable

Best shield for a swordmaster will always be barb thorn shield, for the damage bonus.
Best all around shield for def. is going to be a grey owlite.

I've been pure swordsman for over a year now.
My usual setup is
Skolver/Snarby with 1x asi trinket 1x damage trinket or 2x asi (depending on the shield)
Grey Owlite shield or barb thorn shield
Divine Avenger Ctr VH
Gran Faust Asi VH
Final Flourish Asi VH
Shivermist (for crowd control in nasty rooms, especially in fiend levels and arenas) Ctr Med

This gives me max damage on all my swords, max ctr on my DA and max attack speed on my FF and GF
