Unique Variants
No, I'm pretty sure the -break series do have status weaknesses.
Anyway, the freeze resist increase modification doesn't require actual freeze resistance to work. It should counter out the Firebreak's freeze weakness, actually.
I think he just means that Freeze Resistance is pointless because only one enemy can freeze, and it's a pretty rare enemy.
I got some Fire Resistance on my Spiral Demo Suit. I was pretty happy about that, but I want to keep it when I upgrade to the Heavy Demo Suit. :<
Negative freeze resistance is still negative freeze resistance.
Uh. But you're less weak against freezing as you would be otherwise though, right? So it supposedly won't last as long or something?
Starting price is 50 jillion monies.
Can I interest you in 500 Red Shards instead? If you tilt your head and hold them just so in the right light they look kind of like rubies, so that's kind of like getting 500 rubies.
i've crafted like a dozen items and not gotten one unique variant yet :( what's the rate these appear at? i can only craft so many things me and my friends can even use
These unique variant images might be a good source of data for understanding the link between modifier words and stats; keep 'em coming!
As far as I can tell, Low is 5, Moderate is 10, High is 15 and Ultra is 20.
I'll add that to the wiki if it can be confirmed.
5, 10, 15, and 20 what? Percent? Centibars? Orders of magnitude more likely to be attacked by a rabid (yet fluffy) orange snipe?
And is the data for resistance modifiers consistent with the data for weapon damage/ charge times? Or do defense bonuses use different numbers vs attack bonuses?
Well the bars are just visual representations of numbers, so 5, 10, 15 and 20 are... Numbers.
The attack and defense bonuses are the same. But I think the way attack stacks is additive. So if you have have 120% and add 20% to that, you would get an extra 24%.
Whereas the defense bonuses are just numbers.
Because the charge time for my Firotech Alchemer is non-existent with three Ultra Charge Time modifiers.
There's no such thing as "just a number"... in particular, the fire shield image above is enough to make me suspect that the base modifier would have to be 15% of the maximum total possible, rather than 15% better than the initial stats.
Whereas in your charge time example above (and via other examples), the % modifier is seen to be relative to the specific item's initial specs. 20% of the max possible is very different than 20% of a tiny advantage.
Mesona, you have a unique variant Khorovod with a bonus High Dmg against Slimes.

That's mine... I guess unique variants have varying levels of power too, in addition to just different possible modifiers.
You must christen it Slimeslayer
Not trying to 'win' or anything. Just trying to get more information about unique variants. I previously thought it was just different types of modifiers, like 'dmg vs slimes, increased attack speed, decreased charge time', etc. Didn't know they could vary within each type. Seems like it'd be good to start compiling a list of possible variants for each item type.
If I won it would be "Increased Damage vs. Gremlins." Oh yes. 0.0
Necro'ing threads and not adding any good or valid content to the existing conversation is generally frowned upon - especially when you have done it for the lolz. It is also extremely poor forum etiqutte.
Where is the report button on this site?
@Setakat Ik, sometimes people necro 2 year old threads and act like the thread is brand new
But srsly, that moment when you do a triple roll on your Voltedge and get gremlin low, beast low, and slime low
That moment after four rolls of trying to get Shock low on your Merc Demo set using both pieces that you end up with Poison med on both. Just brilliant.
Hmm, I must be missing something, because it doesn't seem very pointless to me. It just looks more like its weakness has been shored up, which is a plus.
EDIT: Oh no wait wait, it has weakness? Shields aren't supposed to have weakness, right? That's bizarre.
