Yeah this.
It's not really good, since it stops at 2*. What you want are weapons/armors/shields that can be upgraded all the way to 5*. That way you have still have a nice armor set for when you start doing T3 runs. Cutter series isn't bad, but I feel it's a little too weak and fast for me. But if it's working for you, keep it.
I would replace it with either an Elemental brandish or a Night Blade. The night blade is really good, if you want to some Royal Jelly/Jelly King runs since slime monsters are weak to shadow damage. The elemental brandishes can inflict status conditions, with Firebrand Brandish dealing burn status on monsters.
http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Brandish < Link to brandish and it's alchemy lines.(Note: Do not bother with Cautery Sword. It's not worth it.)
There's also the calibur, which is nice for moving out some hoards, but only deals normal damage. While normal damage isn't bad, it isn't good either, since you're not inflicting more damage to a monsters weakness.(Such as shadow damage to jellies and gremlins, or elemental damage to undead and contruct.) The plus side, is that no (current) monsters have a strong defense against normal attacks, but most would rather have a decent array of damage types, rather than using normal damage. But again, it's not a bad sword at all. It just isn't going to deal as much damage to a particular race of monsters as specialty damage would do.(To be honest, I wouldn't be too worried about it, until you reach T3. But that's just my opinion on it.) Also, it's not the most group friendly sword when playing with others. You have to be careful so that you don't end up pushing monsters into your team mates.

Magic Hood is epic, you need something with elemental defense.
Skelly Suit is ok, but if you like swords I would look into the Wolver Coat series. Not saying you should get rid of it, but I would at least keep it as a costume piece or if you're going to go through a shadow heavy area.(Like fiends. But try to dodge anything fire related. xD) http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Wolver_Coat
Skelly Shield is one of the few shields with shadow defense. So I would keep that, as well as getting some other shields for varying levels. Owlite(Elemental) and Bristling Buckler(Pierce). The Buckler also gives a nice boost to swords too. :)

I would go Cobalt Armor and Cobalt Helmet, with a Calibur or Cutter if you still want to use it, and get a Defender Shield. You can do some snarby runs and get some crowns and advance these items to, Wolver Cap and Wolver Coat, with a Calibur, Spur, Flourish, or even still stick with your cutter.
I am still tier 2 and these are my items i use: Wolver Cap, Wolver Coat, Spur, Flourish, and Owlite Shield. I think these are more better than the cobalt set. and NOTE this, Spur does REGULAR damage, and Flourish does PIERCING DAMAGE! Spur does GREAT against any monster, but Flourish's Piercing damage does so much damage against gremlins and wolves, so i recommend using Flourish A LOT more than Spur on Snarby runs! And I also think Wolver Cap and Wolver Coat are far more better than skelly shield and skelly suit. I hope this helps :D
Yea i noticed that spur isn't so great D: But I might be changing it to Brandish and upgrade to....erm....well i forgot the name. Most people say it's a great sword againt JK (Jelly King). And I also ask you something Fradow, would Bristling Buckler be better than Owlite Shield and be good against the JK?
Get rid of the cobalt garbage, it will be useless later in the game. Most people go wolver, demo, or gunslinger gear.
GET RID OF SEARING EDGE NOW! IT DOESNT MATTER IF IT HAS MAX ELEMENTAL DMG OR SUMTHING, JUST GET RID OF IT!
