why can't bombers open boxes and break down minerals faster?

what i'm looking for is a way for Bombers to be able to break open minerals and boxes faster. from what i've experienced, there usually is a race to collect the healing pills, vitapods, rare items, or even the largest minerals. bombers should be able to fight for these just as well as gunners and sword users.

it's pretty frustrating as a pure bomber to be unable to be first to collect drops from boxes in parties. by the time a bomb has been set, the boxes had already been cleared out and collected by the gunners and sword users... then the bomb explodes. on the rare occasion that equipment drops, i feel that pure bombers are never able to "luck out" and get the equipment because of how quickly the other weapon classes are able to ravage the treasure boxes.

minerals are also a chore to break down as a bomber. it takes a few seconds to get just one hit on the mineral (combination of the charge time and detonation time) and only a few bombs are able to span the distance necessary to be able to hit more than one. but even so, a bomber whittling a mineral will usually be the last in the party to finish.

i feel that a remedy for this handicap could be to allow bombers to break boxes and chip away at minerals with a non-charged bomb attack. a bomb-melee, if you will. i'm not asking for damage, just for the capacity to have hit-like effects from the non-charged bomb attack.

...come to think of it, this property could also be used to activate switches and destroy breakable blocks.

try bringing something that

try bringing something that isn't a bomb?

but in all honesty, I agree with the bomb having a damage-less uncharged attack.

The only legitimate complain

The only legitimate complain is the pills on boxes, the minerals are shared so who gets the biggest one doesn't really win anything. For other drops, it's randomized so it doesn't matter who picks it up.

Well you could just rush the boxes and wait until someone opens them.

Still, it's not about what you get, it's about slowing everything down. Especially when you have stone blocks.

The RSS (and its variants,

The RSS (and its variants, save for the ionized salt bomb) will quickly one-shot a mineral with the correct placement.

But yes, a bomb melee attack would be nice, especially if it had a small amount of knockback too to be able to bump your way out of a swarm.

Just make shield bumping

Just make shield bumping capable of breaking boxes and bushes. Careful not to make them able to break stuff like explosive boxes though.

What race?

What race are you talking about? All group gets all minerals that everyone gets, it is one of the ways to get high mineral supplies. And about capsules and vials, use organization and kindness... don't hog all pills for yourself.

I would like though what you suggest. To me it seems flawed logic that a box can protect you from a big Nitronome blast if you are behind it (well, 99% of the time is the enemies who benefit from this). So +1.

Weren't bombs shown to have a normal attack in one video?

The bomber placed down a bomb, but it had a hilariously pathetic blast radius, but they could place a lotta them as well.

Kinda similar to the Gremlin Demo.

Agreed

I understand having to charge and place a bomb. How about we can also throw them, uncharged? Open boxes, hit switches, break minerals...

10% damage, 20% range (no status) for an uncharged bomb deployment, and you can't deploy another within half of your bomb's charge time. I feel this would suffice for solo play, without buffing too much...
