If the map shows an arena on the next level down, but it's gonna be a wait before it cycles to the elevator, how long is a reasonable time to ask other knights to wait before wanting them to wait becomes rude?

It varies between gates and depths. Most clockworks take 6 minutes to cycle, while a few depths can go up to 15 minutes.

I find the question
I find the question irrelevant. If someone's in a hurry (me included) they can go solo. Me personally, I'll wait maybe 20 minutes max, and rarely more than 10
Arenas are the most rewarding levels in a gate. Sure there is difficulty, but its very well rewarded.
