I prefer the Barbarous Thorn

I prefer the Barbarous Thorn Shield for the damage bonus, but any 5* shield works (watch out for lumber axes, though). There's all damage types in the Unknown Passage, but you'll never be swarmed with attacks. Just use the gear that you normally use and you'll be fine. :)

I just came from a run

I can tell you personally that our group had 2 ppl with grey owlite, one with the crest, and one with ironmight/volcanic (i wasnt really paying attention) and we all lived about the same.
Considering equal skill, all the 5 star shield will perform about the same so just use what is more comfortable for you

GoS poison max did fine. But

GoS poison max did fine. But we really needed a nitronome ctr max for the final wave.

Three shields come to mind:

Three shields come to mind:

Barbarous thorn shield. You want to kill the things down there quickly and this shield will assist in that. Can be useful if you prefer dodging over shielding.

I have an Ironmight (shadow max). It works really well, the only thing that presented a problem were the swarm turrets. Even plates takes a beating from those. It bumps enemies further than most shields too, which is really useful to get some room.

A friend suggested getting an ancient plate with Vanaduke tokens, it's the most specialized "normal" shield in the game. It won't cost you a thing if you do FSC regularly since you can sell it afterwards for 30K crowns, which most people use their tokens for anyway.

I also agree with Giannii that you could use some source of push-back in the final room, be it a Nitronome or a Divine Avenger with some CTR.
