Energy Buy price with Crowns

Everyone, I just read on Spiral Knights wiki that the buying of the energy depends on how much people are buying it. I recently checked and it is hovering around 7,300 or more. Now my theory is, that if we all stop buying from there for a while it will go down, however once that happens we cannot all buy at once, buy a little at a time to keep it at a low price. Thus we can get more energy, though it may be slower, than we would now.

Please post thoughts and questions

Thanks :)

Maybe...

That may be true however if we can get enough peeps to help we can make a difference in at least some of it.
The word just needs to get out to everyone.

You're fighting an uphill

You're fighting an uphill battle here. The number of buyers is so much greater than the number of sellers that the CE price is entirely demand-driven. Convincing a bunch of T1 and T2 players to quit buying CE when they likely aren't buying much to begin with won't really move the price.

The CE market seems to have settled down at roughly the amount of straight crowns you can get from a typical T3 run. This leads me to speculate the CE price is being determined mostly by T3 players, F2P or otherwise. As most T3 runs use more than 100 energy (super-elite players who lol at D19 Dark City excluded :D) this provides a measure of autoregulation in the market, especially since there's little reason to carry a fat sack of crowns around when there's nothing to spend it on most of the time.

intersting speculation

That is an interesting speculation that you r making, however it sounds accurate. But i am T2 right now and i dont make very many cr per run, so the price is completely outrageous. So that is why we need to lower the ce cost for those who do not have enough crowns to afford it.

Before

Before it was "the price of a tier 1 run", because it would help newbies to get to tier 2 faster.
Then people decided that it was filling with too many people tier 2 and rose the price to "the price of a Jelly King run", because "it was fair to give good players energy".
Then as people saw that there were too many bad random people at Vanaduke they rose it to "the price of a Vanaduke run". Which is making me go nuts because having to get 60k+ worth of crowns for a 5* craft instead of 32k+...*cough* That is the official story.

Of course it isn't because some people want to lock access to high ranked content and so that they can have for themselves FSC and if anyone would ever achieve it they make Fiend strata before every gate generation so they have to craft a shadow protecting set. These players don't have at all the majority of CE existent at the market.

Did you know that 1% people in WoW control 24% of the gold there?

If that happens in a p2p MMO, imagine what happens in a f2p MMO. Yeah. Start grinding crowns as we all f2p players do, because this isn't going anywhere fast!

It partially dosn't matter

For the T2 price i bought all my stuff at action for about 3k a piece, so that was in three times of getting on since i have joined. But that was a while ago, and now I still use most of that stuff because i cant afford anything else yet. that is why it needs to change, i would like to get better things faster so i can reach deeper with the CE that I could buy. Like Aumir said it is really annoying. Again this needs to change because i only have a limited amount of time a week so i would like a maximum reward for my playing time.

Hmmmrph...

I need to make this add myself before someone (and I know the people, because they always "go to the throat" when this comes) else does: we aren't "entitled" to get things faster, and the reason for it is because for going faster in a f2p MMO you have to pay. Always. After saying this, though, I will also say that what I think we need is more selfless people controlling the market, actual people that "want to fund" OOO with CE buys. Because I can't believe that we have these prices after having calculated the "profit" of an elevator pass by comparing the costs of buying one or other things at Energy Depot:

- 1600 CE: 5.84 dollars
- Elevator pass: 7 dollars
- 3500 CE: 8.85 dollars

It costs almost the same than 3500 CE more or less! More on the less part, so it would be 2500CE-2000CE. This means that to get to a profit you have to run Clockworks more than 40 times if we are to compare it to tier 2 people and 30-25 to tier 3 (maybe 20). Who can do that in a month? Only extreme grinders! What it is happening then? The people who control the market are blatantly LYING to the people to get more crowns in their already rich pockets! It is what it feels to me, and I would like to know if I am mistaken on this!

Yeah, I know that you can use your 100 daily mist for other purposes like CE gates, bribing Krogmo, oh yeah that is awesome /sarcasm.

CE prices are actually high

CE prices are actually high right now because of Elevator Passes. I guarantee you, once Elevator Passes are removed from the store (because OOO has explicitly stated that they are only a temporary purchase), CE prices will come down again.

prices where rising LOOOOONG

prices where rising LOOOOONG before there was even mention of the Elevator Pass...

ive seen them go up from 3,5K to 4K to 4,5K to 6K and now stopping at 7,2K and i think it's not going to get higher then that (because you won't make ANY profit from 100CE) well you just have to live with the fact that F2P run clockworks and give their crown to P2P

As it stands I have over a

As it stands I have over a million crowns. I'm just waiting for the prices to come down before I start spending them. I myself have a pass so I don't need any CE at the moment.

Just curious why the OP

Just curious why the OP thinks that it's the job of other players to subsidize the game for him. It's hardly my job to try improve your life with my money, after all. Why shouldn't players who P2P get bang for their buck? Not doing so pretty much equates to throwing away money.

I was thinking about how much

I was thinking about how much things actually cost, every peice of 5* equipement has taken atleast 1100ce to make (worse case 1450ce), that means for every player with a 5* set 6600-8700ce must have been bought by someone, which is about 20 dollars (arround the cost of the starter pack).

@Aumir

"Then as people saw that there were too many bad random people at Vanaduke they rose it to 'the price of a Vanaduke run'."

No it hasn't made it to the price of a Duke run yet. a duke run gives at least 12k and costs 80 ce if you start at emberlight. so that would bring the price of ce to 15k not 7.2-7.6K

I see what you are saying,

I see what you are saying, Knightrails and your point is taken, though i would guess that most of the people are attempting to reach 5* thing f2p. I respect all of your opinions and i may be on the wrong side. i enjoy the conversations and the suggestions, please keep it up.

I don't remember making that much money when I got there, but (I most likely was distracted keeping myself alive!) anyways, we better shut up now and be quiet before we give ideas to the marketers! xd
