I will some day try out ultimate fsc and i have trouble deciding which fire res shield im gonna bring.
The three fire resist shields i have:
- Grey owlite shield UV med elemental
- Volcanic plate shield UV low shadow
- Crest of almire UV med fire
Which one would you bring? why?
I know any of them will do, but i want to see what others would bring.
It doesn't really matter between those choices. The UVs aren't going to make an appreciable difference in their defensive power. I tried both Crest and Owlite recently and I lean toward Owlite. This is just because the shield won't crack as quickly during the Vana Mask Phase. If I lag during the Mask Phase it is nice to come out with an intact shield rather than no shield and half my health missing.
Crest is going to last longer against Zombie swipes and Howlitzer projectiles. But really you should be shield bumping Zombies and dodging Howls.
But really, you can't go wrong with any of those.
Ever tried dodging projectiles when you have not the slightest idea where they currently are? Thats what happens when I try to dodge howlitzer projectiles. My ping to USA is beyond "bad", although it says "2 bars".
I say grab crest. It survives 2 hits by howlitzer and doesn't break, unlike owlite. Saves you a lot of HP on pre-vanaduke levels.
With pretty bad lag & freezes + mostly crests, we got trough the lvls pretty good... The mask phases though were really bad. Just awful. Guess I'll try Owlite next time. I'd guess optimal would be, if one player would take a crest to turn the howlitzers away from the team mates (he can just throw water later in mask phases)...?
For your first time, I'd say bring the Crest of Almire. Learning to deal with the new layout and mobs is going to be a different challenge than the regular Citadel, despite the similarities. Once you have run it at least once, and you're feeling confident that you won't need your shield to tank a lot of shadow attacks, you can switch to Grey Owlite Shield. I'd suggest taking someone who's already done the Shadow Firestorm Citadel if possible, just so that you won't have as much trouble on your first visit.

i really dont know why i mentioned the UVs on the shields xD
sense everything in FSC does shadow attacks i would say crest of almire and because it has fire resist.
