There appears to be something

There appears to be something odd going on with the last driver set available for fro Radeon X1000 series cards. you may need to experiment with some older drivers to get it to work.

(Though apparently the drivers in Linux and these cards work just fine...)

can't change the code in projectx

Good day guys...I still can't play spiral knight because i have a problem when I clicked Play it turns black. I already go to the technical support regarding the "black screen" solution but when I go to projectx in the java soft in my computer I can't change the code because it just the word default and language. I hope you can help me to play my first online game. Thank you very much!!! :D

I am in 100% support of this

I am in 100% support of this topic, as I am having the EXACT same problem on my laptop. I'd like it if we could even find something as patchwork as just jury-rigging up a quick fix for now.
But really I want to know what's going on here.
My computer specs are pretty much the exact same, except that my video card is an ATI Mobility Radeon X1400.

I really want to see this work out.

Guys, unfortunately this will come down do driver experimentation by those in possession of these chipsets. There has been almost universal problems with this series chipset using the end-of-life drivers.

Well, it's kind of hard to find proper older drivers for these video cards. Where might one go about finding a listing of them or something of that nature?

Hello, good thing this dead

Hello, good thing this dead thread has come up because there's a workaround for X1000 series cards that works quite reliably. Also, this is confirmed to be an issue with the ATI driver.

For those who have also installed the Catalyst Control Center along with their ATI graphics driver simply open the program by clicking the icon in the system tray or "ccc" in the Start Menu. Look under the 3D settings tab for an option called "Catalyst A.I." and mover the slider to standard. Your game should run now.

If the game does not work or you do not have the Catalyst Control Center installed I would recommend the suite from Catalyst 10.2 (Windows XP linked). Then follow the above directions. This has a high success rate among ATI X1000 card users.
