I have trouble getting enough crowns to buy some good gear (even at the auction house). help?
I really need more crowns to get better gear- can anyone help me?
well, the only boss runs I do are snarlbox runs, and I never have enough energy to do them more than once a day. And there is no way i can afford to buy energy.
Lightplasma, you can do Snarbolax runs as many times as you can, oh and also check the energy depot everytime to do snarbolax runs! Click the minus button on the buttom right of your screen (Where your energy is) and the energy depot will open. You will see that CE (Crystal Energy, way different than your recharging mist energy) cost real money. BUT! If you click the "Trade" Button/Tab at the top of the energy depot screen, you can pay crowns for CE! So if you just have enough SPARE crowns to get some CE, go ahead and buy some CE. Then you will get 100 CE and you will be able to do more Snarbolax than you can do in a day or even every day! Oh and you can also auction items at the Auction House!
Here's a tip when you auction items at the AH (Auction House). This is an easy method I do every time i get to the auction house!
1. Buy Vitasuits, Cyclops Caps, and all those items at the Bazaar that costs 150 crowns!
2. Then go to the Auction House and click the "My Auctions" tab at the top of the auction house screen.
3. Then auction the items you bought at the Bazaar.
4. Put the Bid Price at 100 crowns and the Buy Now Price at 400 crowns!
These are a great way to get more crowns too! You can do this method whenever you run out of energy. Oh and at this point you might ask, "Why is this method so great and how is it easy for you Nalydx?" Well this is why. Lots of new players in spiral knights WILL go to the Auction House. Then they will bid and bid up until they get the Vitasuit, cyclops cap or whatever you bought at the Bazaar that cost 150 crowns, and you might ask at this point, "Why will they bid up just for this item?" Well it is because they DON'T and i mean DO NOT like to lose! So they will bid and bid or either click the Buy Now button. So I want you to try this method. You don't have to but it helps me a lot. So I Hope this helped you! :)
If you have access to Tier 2 already then stop running Tier 1. The only reason to go back to Tier 1 at that point is to get Frumious Fangs from Snarbolax. If you're still stuck in Tier 1, read on:
In Tier 1, your options are Snarbolax and Arenas. Between the two, I think the latter is the better money, though less reliable. Go in a party since any money picked up is given to everyone in it's full value.
Don't bother buying any 0* or 1* stuff. Go straight to 2*. YOu want to get into Tier 2 ASAP since the money in Tier 1... for lack of a better word, sucks. Still, it shouldn't be too hard to get enough 2* stuff off the auction house. I know someone who got three 2* items in one day for a combined price of less than 4k crowns. I haven't checked most prices on typical 2* items lately, but I think I spent about double that to get out of Tier 1.
Ultimately, if you can't drop the cash to buy CE or a pass, then you really don't have any other option than just... taking it slowly. Even still, shouldn't take too long.
The 2* (Tier 2 items) equipment i have is, Wolver Cap, Wolver Coat, Owlite Shield, Brandish, and Flourish. I recommend these items for people who likes swords and want to be a Swordsmen. I, am obviously one since I have Brandish (Sword) and Flourish (Sword). I do have some items if you want to be a Bomber. Spiral Demo Suit, Spiral Demo Helmet, (not sure about the shield yet), and some bombs like, Blast Bomb, or a status effect bomb. I don't know what armor are there for the Gunslinger class. But I think there are Gunslinger equipment. But you can ask someone about the 3 classes, which are Gunslinger, Swordsmen, and Bomber. These items are great to do snarbolax runs or snarbolax solo runs. But I recommend, well if you want to still get used to these equipment before you go to the JK, which I highly recommend, to go to about 2 or 3 snarbolax runs with friends.
On average you get about 3k per Snarby run (at least from my experience), and need about 60 mist energy if you don't use energy revives or an Elevator Pass. I ran Snarby so many times (I had around 40 Snarby Tokens at one point). It is simply and pays nicely, but some Tier2 runs really are better. If you can find a good team, you bring in around 6k per run.
well that works also but you never can guarantee
that someone will buy your product even then if they do you only get 90% of what they bided for
Once you reach tier 2, u should do lots of Jelly King runs, just go with a good team and u should be fine, like 7k every run :D
@skarmol post5 there are also hybrids, which combine bombs, swords, and guns to maximum advantage over every floor
It takes a few runs but you should easily be able to afford:
A wolver outfit (2.4kcr)
A Brandish (1kcr)
An Owlite Shield (1.5kcr)
Buy all that stuff and start doing T2 runs.
Or, with the new mission system, just work through the new mission system on mist energy and you will have all the gear you need and direct access to the royal jelly palace.
EDIT to those who may object to this setup, it is only to earn more CR faster. Once you are earning CR, feel free to expand into guns and bombs or other lines of swords, shields, and armor
I'm sure Lightplasma appreciates the help (if he's still around), but this thread was necro'd from December. Please check the date before posting, y'all, so current, active threads can stay near the top.

Being rank 3-2 will help.you get a TON Of money since you can do snarbolax right from the bat!
Um, guys? I think Narfle and Sir-Didymus just mentioned something important.....Lightplasma probably won't be needing this advice now lol
well you need to focus on what you run, and run depth that you know you can make money.
