OK what is going on SK HQ.. no announcement.. nothing..

the scissor blades dissapear EDIT : They reappeared? Or were just on page 2 of the auction all the time (derp!).. the prices and amount of regalia changed.

the price of costume helmet changes

you put super rare accessories up (literally a couple of hours after I list all my rare accessories)

Totally screwed me over, and the people that bought the regalia/costume helms at the original price.

And people who bought a pass to crown grind to get the scissors - very long was left ..

Can we have an explanation please of just What the h.. is going on?

Edit : Nick comes through with an explanation - Thank you Nick.

NO... you dont understand..

NO... you dont understand.. .

2 hours ago it was fine..

now I log in and the whol thing has changed.. with no warning, no notification.

take a look if you dont believe me.

for someone who was using crucial timing to turn a profit.. SK HQ has just done me in an unsightly manner..

which I would have been prepared for if they had given us prior notice..

But the whole featured auction has just changed- just like that... on a whim... with no notice..

so how many times are they going to do that.

it beggars belief.

Edit : And the violet set is more expensive than coral ? Because in the 24 hours the auction was up SK HQ found out violet sold (marginally) better...

WTH?? This is an auction house - These are featured AUCTIONS... it's not a shop.. or a vendor.. you can't just decide.. o that's selling well so we'll make it more expensive than it's coral counterpart.. .

Respect -1 for OOO SK auction team and featured auctions.

This kind of action is why people leave the game - a simple mail.. a simple notification would have been highly acceptable.

@God-king how would you feel

@God-king how would you feel if you were making enough cr to get the scissors (or something else on the auction list - that has Very Long written next to it) and then it's just removed.

SK HQ should just stick to their word - just do what they actually say they're going to do - i.e. list and auction for Very long, instead of removing it.

and would it have hurt to just leave them up until they finished? no.. they ob want people to sink their crowns this weekend and won't have it any other way.. so they list the super rare accessories again - which is a kick in the crotch for all the people who shelled out.. what was it now? 10 days ago or so...

what does it matter if only 8 coral sets sell at 895k... that doesn't do any dmg to SK HQ.. it's a crown sink.. so it can do it's job today. or next week.

it's the fact that they just waltz in and changed things. Which is their right. But not notifying people is just treating the community badly.

I don't see why I should have to bottle that down, this is how they're treating us, and this is what I have to say about it.

@rouge.. price on the regalia dropped and now only 150 are available. also the violet is more expensive than the coral - the scissor blades have been removed.. and the super rare accessories have been listed.. as auctions... Also the price of costume helm that last 30 days has been lowered.

they just took down scissor blades and trojan/love puppy mask. (despite it being at long time).
They dropped the rose regalia in price by nearly 300k (FU all of those who had previously purchased)
they put up a whole slew of rare accessories.

not complaining personally. just stating facts.

@ Devs

are the times right on these? i want to bid on sum super rare accessories...need to know if its going down to v.short or disappearing while long?

Like the rest of the Auction

Like the rest of the Auction House, the Featured Items section is dynamic and its contents and prices will change. Checking regularly ensures you'll be aware of what's for sale.

In this specific case where prices changed more dramatically than they could in the future, the buyers were taken care of, no feelings or wallets hurt.

Lastly, as someone stated above, Scissor Blades are still available, on page 2 as of this writing.

@ Nick - Thank you for clarifying that Nick..

I actually feel much better knowing those people were reimbursed. Much much better. Thank you.

Just one suggestion tho -

perhaps take away the stated time next to the buyout auctions? so people aren't lulled into a false sense of security that they have "Very Long" (i.e. 24-48hours) to acquire them.

I understand dynamic and it says in the previous update that you never know when they will change..

so perhaps take the time limits off? so it's not misleading to anyone.

I doubt these will go much differently.

@Xairoy: The prices most likely will not even hit 1m until the final hour of bidding. For the serious bidders, there truly isn't much of a point to bidding until the auctions hit "Very Short" - that is, 5 minutes left (which is set back to 5 minutes every time a bid is placed). I doubt these will go much differently than the previous rare auctions, with maybe a few hundred-thousand less Crowns. :)

Very Short" - that is, 5 minutes left (which is set back to 5 minutes every time a bid is placed)

Minor nit, but important when you are bidding. The time left on the auction is *NOT* reset to 5 minute, it appears that something like 30-45 seconds are added onto the end time. You do *NOT* have time to spend 3 minutes going off to get a drink. You can tell that it isn't being reset to 5 minutes by observing that bidding on something doesn't put it at the very end of the "very short" auctions, but rather it is somewhere in the middle. More bids will push it back further, and I have even seen it go up to "short".

@Rommil

It is pretty good logic lets think of this I will step by step break it down for you and others who don't understand:

1. Myself and others saw these sexy rose sets and a scissor blade and kinda became turned on.

2. Then we went all crazy and spent our crowns on these items.

3. These items had a SET price which Three Rings thought was fair.

4. Three Rings realized those prices were not fair at all, and ended up lowering the price exactly 24 hours later.

5. Since Three Rings realized that kids would be upset they knew it be right to give the money back kids overpaid for because they SET the price.

So people who were bidders on the other auctions such as wings etc. had this happen:

1. Three Rings posted a regular auction.

2. They went crazy

3. They most likely paid 2x's more than the items real value

4. Three Rings does not feel guilty since all they did was start an auction out at 1 crown and at the end of the day your personal DESIRE of wanting the item bought it up to X price.

So why shouldn't three rings give back your cash?

If they put 20 of those items out in the market most likely those 20 items will go for different amount of money since there is no set price for the item. The items are placed there at 1 crown and the players of the game decide the price not Three Rings.

Hope that helps you understand my logic, but if you don't I understand that we just don't think alike.

Pure capitalism combined with pure consumerism. It's the same reason people will pay hundreds of dollars for blue jeans that are crafted with less quality than a lot of cheap work jeans. The thing is, buyers (suckers) remorse has a much quicker onset in these situations.

Flaw in refund implementation

To OOO,

Prior to the price drop, I purchased a love puppy disguise off of the Auction House for 400,000 crowns. As I was holding this item, the prices of the premium auctions were lowered, and this item dropped in price to 225,000 crowns from 495,000 crowns. Shortly thereafter, the original buyer of the item presumably received 270,000 crowns as a refund for this depreciation, for the reason that my love puppy disguise had just been undercut by that amount.

I might advance the view that this was programmed in a manner that included a bug where the refunds went to people who were not affected by the price change. I know that maybe about 30-40 of the price changed items were sold, and I imagine only a very small number were then traded. Perhaps I am the only person to be in this situation, and as such cases like this were overlooked in implementing the refunds. So I am requesting that OOO modify this one-time refund to cover situations such as mine.

Thank you for considering my request,
Spaztronaut

(note: I filed a support ticket, suggesting a 175,000 crown refund so that I only paid 225,000 for mine just like the other love puppy disguises. I was told that OOO only refunded the Premium auctions, not user transactions such as mine where I bought it from someone else on AH. Thus I am asking for the policy change from transaction based to "item loss of value" based. But if I were to pick a number, I'd prefer a 270,000 crown refund just like other people got, since that's how much my chances at resale got hurt at that time.)

I still find it kind of humorous that someone, basically random, was sent that big refund.

I found that funny too when I

I found that funny too when I heard it from the middle-man. This is the story: The original buyer sold at a hefty discount after finding out the disguise had a timer on it. The middle-man put it on the AH just with some minor profit. You bid on it since it was a good deal, but then came the change of rules.

Now after the refund, the original buyer basically came out without losses, middle man still won their share, and only you lost on it.

From ooo's perspective they dont want you to buy from resellers, only from them, probably. And as merchants they aren't forced to refund you. As game admins they should probably edit the crowns so that the original buyer breaks even, as if no purchase was done, same for the middle-man, and finally only charge you the current cost of the disguise, they have just rejected you to do this manually, and I can see how this could be more difficult to program so its done automatically in the future.

A few other random comments:

The system wasn't supposed to include refunds, just the possibilty (ie risk) of price drops. I kind of accepted my loss when the price dropped. But then they sent out the refunds, because, as Nick said, "prices changed more dramatically than they could in the future."

I chose to post in this thread because it contained Nick's message about the refunds.

I assumed if I got a refund the crowns would come from a mail from "the haven treasury" rather than being taken away from someone else.

This

This statement basically reflects my belief on why I'm probably out of luck:

And as merchants they aren't forced to refund you.

They may, possibly, have had some legal impetus to refund the people who bought their items directly from OOO (the original buyers.) Those transactions are between players and the game company. Thus they refund under an obligation to accurately present the price of merchandise.

The distinction in my support request, which said that my gun puppy disguise was acquired through a "user transaction", will probably be the final verdict on my situation.

@ Spaztronaut

I was wondering who it was who bought that for 400k and got royally jelly screwed over.
OOO is just proving they are nothing but a money hungry company who sadly disregards their playerbase. This will just make them lose buisiness.
They should take notes from Riot Games. They have one of the most successful free online games and are far from money hungry with their updates, yet they still make BANK.

Why? Because they improve the game instead of trying to find ways to make people spend tons of money to be the best.
If somebody from the dev team would like to contact me about it, I have quite a few ideas that I would be willing to give away FOR FREE that would VASTLY improve spiral knights and GREATLY increase it's revenues. The only catch is that you will need to do some hard work and will be spending long hours developing actual content. But hey, every other indie developer does that, so what's the harm? Lol

Hope to see the state of spiral knights change in the near future :( Most of the veteran and payed players have left.
Other than a few such as me, ruby, kennys-knight, magnus, njthug and a few others.
Laverna and Veroldin quitting were HUGE hits to their revenues. And they both quit ONLY because of where the game is/has been going.
I hope OOO doesn't think they will keep getting customers like Me, Ruby, Laverna, Veroldin, Delcore and Kennys-Knight. Because once the game goes down the tubes and we all quit, nobody will see anything worth paying for in the game.

*crosses fingers and hopes somebody on their staff actually reads this and improves the game because of it*

Be aware that selling 10kCE won't have much of an impact on the market, chances are you won't even push it down to 6kcr. When I sold 20kCE, the bump lasted under an hour. Go ahead and do it if you want to, just don't be disappointed.
