In my mind the skolver sucks compared to the vog cub set. Reason number 1: Tier 3 people (that are complete 5*) are only going to do Vanaduke runs. 2: There is no ice boss so the freeze resit is going to waste (unless he/she is an all time shadow lair runner.) 3: The vog cub set just looks more epic and really goes with the FoV. So what do you think.
Why do people say the skolver is better then the vog cub set?

neither is better than the other. rly it comes down to whether you prefer ASI or damage bonus and what enemies you'll be facing in the upcoming strata. Skolver would be a better choice for RJP while Vog would probably be better for twins and FSC (the assertion that tier 3 people would ONLY run FSC is false. it would get horribly boring for a start). that being said plenty of people have run FSC successfully in Skolver (and probably even proto gear). if you have ASI trinkets and UVs then Skolver would be the better choice by far, afterall there is no universal damage UV. the lack of fire and elemental defense is negligible if you can dodge properly / dont go crazy with FoV charges. point 3 is matter of personal taste. i like both tbh

People have preferences. Not much else to it.
Maybe some people would probably rather have a damage boost, rather than an attack speed boost. Maybe they're extremely well versed in dodging, and they feel that they don't need the extra burn resistances. Maybe they're thinking in terms of PvP, rather than FSC, and prefer having something fairly nice against flourish type weapons and Shivermists(I'm not sure if those are still favorable still...probably not as much as the shock bomb these days...). Maybe they have a Skolver set with high Burn Resistances, so a Vog set may not seem needed to them.
There's just a lot of reasons why people would rather go with Skolver over Vog. It doesn't necessarily mean that one's better than the other, just people are interested in different things.

Some people DO get bored with FSC. You are not everyone, so you can't speak for everyone whether or not it's fun. You might think it's fun, but not everyone else thinks the same. And then there's people like me, who are not ready to solo FSC, would do that. I can definitely do it with a group, but I'm not going to do it with just any group.(Obviously I'm not good. xD I'm far from good infact and still need more practicing...) Sure, FSC does have the best amount of crowns, but why treat it as a job? It's just a game, do whatever you want to do.
Some people think that Trinkets are extremely valuable. They gives you epic bonuses, without the need to get UVs or special armor.
Dying around 2-4 times? 2 doesn't sound too bad, but 3 and 4? That sounds kinda like a waste at that point. But eh, like everyone else mentioned, preference.
And Slag's breath is fairly easy to dodge....I do it quite a bit during my FSC runs. The only time I really have trouble is if I somehow got swarmed by them and can't break through.(But that's more like my fault, rather than the breath killing me.)
A lot of people still play Lockdown. Just check out the numbers. Probably not as much as they use to, but still there's a good number of them playing. And couldn't the same be said about getting a Skolver with high fire resistance? Again, preference.

Dude, your opinion is not fact, just because you don't get bored of FSC doesn't mean other people don't. Just because you don't play PvP doesn't mean no one else does. For your information a lot of people play PvP, get bored of FSC. and think Skolver is better than Vog.

Tier 3 beast or slime strata
In a Tier 3 beast or slime stratum, I'd rather use Skolver than Vog Cub or Snarbolax.
In a Tier 3 construct or gremlin stratum, I'd rather use Vog Cub.
In a Tier 3 undead or fiend stratum, I'd rather use Snarbolax.

Skolvers has global sword damage increase. We don't have an UV for that, would have to use trinkets instead.
Basically, if you are good enough to dodge enemies and survive with 'wrong' armor (ie no fire/elemental in FSC,etc), and have enough money to roll UVs, Skolver defeats Vog.

I'll explain simply why alot of people use skolver:
2 Skolver parts + heart pendants + Striker Shield in lockdown + ASI VH UV on weapon =
Striker with 24 HP Max Sword damage & Max Sword ASI
able to tank 3 gran faust hits and die on the 4th
not to mention it takes a few more hits of piercing weapons to take me down.
I have both so I wear vog cub helm with med fire and skolver/radiant silvermail coat for fsc

anyone consider Lockdown? Your more likely to run into piercing weapons (flourish, Snarble barb) then elemental ones, plus freeze is MUCH more of a killer then fire, as a gunner my weapon of choice in LD is my Callahan, and I don't like it when i see a guy in a Skolver set (I cheer if all my enemies are wearing Vog cub sets).

I use Skolver
If you can actually dodge mobs and not get hit Skolver pounds Vog in the ground. I wear full Skolver and BTS and i DODGE enemies and it works out just fine. I can run FSC in my skolver with no fire resist and not die once. Vog is for the people who cant dodge fire on the floor in FSC and use the OVERUSED DA... I use the Glacius... its faster and i can freeze mobs.
If you are actually good Skolver will out perform every time

If you're still dying in Blackstone Bridge, of course you won't get bored of FSC. It's still a "challenge." For people that have soloed the entire FSC without deaths, or have played it 50+ times, it's boring. I don't have Skolver, and only 1 piece of Vog, and don't see the point of getting more. I've got a Snarby cap planned, but offensive bonuses are minor and only really matter on ctr and in PvP.
And clearly, the Bombastic Demo set trumps both Skolver and Vog Cub.
1. There ARE other strata except Vanaduke. What makes you think you'll be doing only that inT3?
2. You said it yourself. Ice Queen. Also, RJP when you get bored.
3. I don't like FoV and I'm using Brandish line swords instead of the Sealed Sword line counterparts for the most part, so ASI from vog is useless to me. I do get Max Damage on swords with the skolver and my DTS. And I can use the trinket slots for Max CTR also.
And you might want to use skolver in Lockdown with all those shivermist buster spamming dudes and the Flourishes you'll find there.
