losing money joining a dungeon

i dont know if this is supposed to happen or not, but whenever i join a dungeon, i lose 10 energy as is supposed to happen. But i also lose some of my crowns! Why?

It's probably only happening

It's probably only happening when you jump directly to tier 2. There's a posted 200 crown toll to skip T1. You can see it in the gate interface.

It really threw me off once when I emptied out my crowns and couldn't figure out why I was barred from clicking the T2 button.
