Craft until I get a useful UV, or just upgrade and hope for the best?

So I just hit Tier 2 with some basic Bomber gear (demo helm + armor, blast and freeze bombs) and I've run through Jelly King a few times. What I'm wondering is, should I keep crafting the gear I already have (note: bought it all on the AH for cheaper than it would cost to craft, so I don't have the recipes) up to 3* and beyond, or craft my current gear until I get a useful UV before upgrading?

Any insight would be great; thanks.

I would go for all 5* gear

I would go for all 5* gear first before trying to get specific UVs.
Whenever I find I don't have time to play, i'll craft two 2* items
just so I don't waist any mist energy. It's totally up to you though.

Yup.

Agreed, I wouldn't worry about getting a particular UV just yet. Get your T3 access (at least 4*) and I think you'll find your earning ability is somewhat greater. Save your crowns and keep your eyes open for deals on the AH. I think that in the process of playing more T2 and T3 you may get a better idea of what sort of UVs would be helpful for you.
