I recently bought an elevator pass, but it is suddenly costing me the 500 crown fee to join/start parties when it was at 0 for the first twelve hours. I think it was because I started a new knight and did a couple of dungeons. Hope this bug gets fixed soon because Im not going to be happy if I end up paying the fees regardless of what was advertised :(

CLICK on "CHARACTER" button. Then switch to progress tab.

You will see there all currently opened gates. All gates have 3 stars blank or filled.
First stars are always filled, that means you can join tier 1 lvls without paying.
Next star (second and third) are representing tier2 and tier3. If they are blank, you have to pay 200 and 500 crowns to join or start party directly (without doing previous tier 1 or 2 lvls) at this tier.

There is a rule. You dont pay to start/join party on tier1 ,if you join directly at tier 2 you pay 200 crowns, when you join directly at tier 3 you pay 500 crowns.
BUT
If you do whole run from 0 to 8 then you dont have to pay for starting on tier 2 but you still have to pay 500cr to start/join on tier3. If you complete then run from 8 to 18 you dont have to pay 500 crowns to start directly at tier 3.
It can also happen that you havent completed tier 1 run so you have to pay 200CR to join/start party on tier2 run BUT you have completed whole tier2 run so you dont have to pay 500cr to start/join run on tier3.
BUT
This is applied only to ONE CERTAIN gate in what you have done your runs So if you completed lvls from 0 to 18 on Golden King Gate you wont have to pay 500 crowns there to join or start party directly at tier 3, but you will have to pay it at for example, emerlad clover gate where you didnt completed any lvls.
Also REMEMBER, gates rorate (they change), every 2 days gate most to the left dissapears and new gate appears on the most right side. Your tier progress is cleared every time gate changes and new appears.

Elevator Pass, as the name suggests, makes elevators free. Joining a party on T2, T3 is a different thing, and Asukalan explained it right.
