Why is the gunslinger armor so inferior?

WHY IS THIS?

THE shadowsun armor has Maximum -ve resistance to curse and poison, and the damage bonus is LOW. There are too many penalties. At least remove the damn max negative resistances or increase the damage bonus to MEDIUM. Also, the other gunner armors have no STATUS RESISTS and ASI is a total crapshoot. Lastly, the gunner lines also do not have a 2* version giving significantly decreased chance of crafting with UVs. Guns already do crap damage and the range is somewhat questionable.

Is this some sort of Anti-american tirade? as we all know that americans LOVE GUNS. WHY IS THERE GUN CONTROL IN A VIDEO GAME!!!!!???

That's a really good question, and I'm glad that you suggest gunner gear to receive a 2* line. I really have to agree with you on that one.

The damage bonus is low only at heat 0-4...5-10 it's medium...at least I think :P

Yeah, they fixed that part. But we still don't have 2* gear for gunners, so the thread is relevant! :D

Great post, +1

I think that OOO likes their swords too much.

There is also only a shield for sword damage, what about bomb ctr or damage or possibly a better qucikstrike buckler? (which doesnt do much for bombers but raise your bomb faster.) I think OOO needs to start thinking of all classes and equality in the game between classes before adding anything else after the sprites. They have alot to fix and think about and right now the Gunning and Bombing classes are falling behind swords.

Not to mention OP is definately correct when talking about a 2* version of gunning armor, WHY ISN'T THERE ANY?
Also why does my hat look the same! No matter how far you progress on a certain line it ends up looking like idk this..

Lazy much? the only two that are different are the nameless hat and Shadowsun Stetson. And even those two hats are hard to tell the difference in. But in all seriousness get creative OOO.

This also brings another problem when playing lockdown! You should be able to identify by looking at the other player what kind of damage they are resistant to or not resistant to, but with these hats who knows unless you inspect them? For all i know they're boss and wearing 3* in LD cuz i cant tell!

OOO take care of something else besides your swords! Bomby's and Gunners need love too!

I don't know... I've literally been waiting an entire year for OOO's to focus on balancing equipment, yet not once has there been an update that fixes it all up.

Anyway, don't use Shadowsun for gunning. Make sure you use Chaos Armor, even with all the status debuffs it's really not that bad. You barely get hit with statuses at all as long as you're being cautious, not to mention it gives a decent damage bonus along with a great CTR bonus.

And also, doesn't this belong in a different part of the forums? The Arsenal?

They are proud of their beautiful swords, big clunky and effective objects that are able to mess anything and everything up. They really do have great textures though.

Blitz being as powerful as it is, has its downsides, but to keep from straying we are not talking about the weapons we are simply discussing the armor itself and lack of resistance, a two star addition and other relevant things like lack of artwork for the upgraded armor in terms of helmet. And as a person that collects armors for the pure purpose of costumes (without accessories) i feel that the gunners are lacking creativity.

I can only think of a few

I can only think of a few reasons:

either it's because being a gunner is more of a "sustained damage" role, where you provide cover fire from out of the fray. Sword users deal more damage, which means they pull more "aggro", but gunners can provide steady damage while staying out of enemy range, making them more "dependable" as a solid source of damage. Sword users can get cornered, and or overwhelmed by mobs with a trent or trojan, and become rather doomed. Gunners don't have as much of a risk there, since they can stay away. why give them armor thats just as good as a melee combat specialist? if anything, gunners should get less armor, but more damage buffs, and be glass cannons, while sword users get more defenses, but no sword buffs on the armor, imho.

another reason might simply be that they haven't taken priority of weapon balance for quite some time and as a result, haven't felt a need to update. Not establishing any sort of expectation early on makes it easy for them to go on without doing anything new.

lastly, yeah, it's possible that they just don't consider weapon balance as a noteworthy task. it does take a lot of test playing and tweaking, and they don't seem to be suffering for lack of it, except in modes like PVP. I do wish they would rebuff the dark retribution, it was the highest DPS bomb in the game, and a great bomb to take as a bomber aiming to support his team with sustained damage.

Dark Retribution is still the highest-DPS bomb in the game. It is also still a great bomb to take as a bomber aiming to support his team with sustained damage (or just swiftly murder everything in the battlefield.)

In fact, the DPS of Dark Retribution is so high that on depth 23 it has a higher amount of DPS than any sword at depth 28 if both operate under optimal conditions.

Compare Lancer Knightz sword combos at max ASI with my bomb DPS chart.

Mine is at depth 23. Lancer Knightz' is at depth 28. In mine, DR has a DPS of 735 against weak targets while the highest DPS sword, Warmaster Rocket Hammer, has a DPS of 733 against weak targets. According to my calculations, DR would have a DPS of 813 at D28 with no damage bonuses.

Now can we please stop lamenting the one bomb nerf that was actually deserved? It's still one of the most powerful weapons in the game.
