Bombing through FSC

I do have my generic FSC loadout (Vog/Vog/CoA,DA/Blitz/AP/SB) and it's working pretty well but I wanted to try bombing my way through there as well.

Current loadout:
Mad Bomber Suit/Volc.Demo Helm.
This gives me Max CTR on all bombs plus a medium damage bones
Crest of Almire

Weapons:
Ascended Calibur (soon to be Leviathan Blade)
Spike Shower
Voltaic Tempest
Shivermist Buster

I used the above combo a couple of times and it worked pretty well actually, apart from the fact that I died a few times(3-4) more than I would If I used fire-resisting armor instead.
And this is where the trinkets enter the picture. I haven't made any bombing-related trinket at the moment, with the obvious choice being 2 elite boom modules to get max damage, but as I see my runs so far, I mostly did crowd control with the VT, leaving the rest of the team to actually kill off the slags.
So, is it better to have at least one fire resistance trinked instead to help me with the fire? Or just make 2 bomb focus modules and run in vog?

Another concern is the spike shower. I will make it into a Dark Briar Barrage when I get the recipe, but anyway I found it so-so, and I'm thinking to replace it either with a gun, or a Nitronome for when things get too crowded and I urgently need some room. Or replace the Calibur with the DA for its knockback?

Hmm...

Hmm.. in my opinion if you have the money, perhaps you should try this setup.

Helm: Volcanic Demo helm. (This one is really quite easy for me.)
Armor: Vog Cub Coat, OR Armor of The Fallen. (Since you have the Vog coat already, Vog would probably be better.)
Weapons:
Divine Avenger. (Better then the AC, unless you use the charge. Your choice, really.)
Voltaic Tempest. (If you use it, keep it. I hate shivers because of my Vortex, but a VT user is always a nice surprise.)
Argent Peacemaker. (Since you apparently like this, this is a nice backup gun for killing slags.)
Radiant Sun Shards, OR Shivermist Buster. (You might want to look at the shards line, but if you don't care for it, keep the Shiv.)
Trinket(s): Elite Bomb Focus Module. Since you would be running with a medium CTR only, take a focus module here.)
Trinket 2: (Optional) Soaking Wetstone Pendant, OR, a trinket that you feel most comfortable with. (Dunno :p)

This isn't really all that great advice, I'm not a bomber. I do however know some bombers that run something like this.
Just a opinion.

I've done it a couple of

I've done it a couple of times with a nitro, shiver and RSS while wearing volcanic demo helm and mad bomber suit, no trinkets. It works quite well solo. In a party, I bring shiver, voltaic and RSS if I feel like going bomber. I might switch the voltaic out since I'm saving up for a vortex. FSC is doable with only bombs :)

IMO, if you find yourself spamming status bombs more then CTR is really the only thing you need. Your party does the killing and you just need to keep the statuses going. With that in mind, I suggest wearing vog and using CTR trinkets if fire really gets to you. If you're the aggressive type, then go mad bomber + fire trinkets.

DBB is a great bomb. Its just that it doesn't knock down the slags in FSC so it doesn't work well for crowd control (or at least that's what I remember. I haven't used it in FSC for a while now). If anything, get it for beasts, fiends and gremlins.

Thank you for your answers.

I'm frequenting d23 Basil for a couple of weeks now looking for DBB's recipe - still no luck.

I don't want to part from at least one sword, just for the sake of feeling safe (and helping on the mask phases), so I'll just try switching Spike Shower for RSS for now, a damage trinket and a fire one and see how it goes after that.

as a former wannabe bomber...

If you're going with a team and have some fire problems, it'd probably be better for you to run in vog for now and hook yourself up with 2 ctr bomb trinkets. If you start to feel more confident later on, you could probably trade in the volc. demo helm for a mad bomber mask with 1 elite boom mod., and another for your sword or gun. From my experience, dbb works pretty well with a team. I sorta see the no knockback as a good thing, since it won't surprise anyone. For solo, it wasn't that bad, but I wouldn't use it over nitronome.
I can't say much for rss, i haven't used the crystal line that much.

What I can say is that you can part from your sword and still feel pretty safe. fsc is very doable with just guns. fsc is all about knockback anyway, so I can suggest replacing a sword with a polaris. It'll allow you to...well knockback enemies when you feel uncomfortable and to create space.
My old loadout was: mad bomber set, polaris, dbb, shivermist, and voltaic. I didnt have any bomb trinkets, but if i did, i would have taken a boom and quick draw. Though i guess nitronome could take the place of polaris or dbb if going solo.

But don't take my suggestions too seriously, I was only a bomber for a short while and honestly didn't experiment that much.

Notes.

After a few runs, and seeing that fire is my primary concern, I've come down to this loadout:
Vog Cub Coat [UV Fire Med]
Volcanic Demo Helm
Elite Bomb Focus Module
Elite Trueshot Module [I'll exchange this with an Elite Boom. or Gun Focus. MAYBE.]
Crest of Almire

The above gives me CTR MAX on the bombs plus damage medium on the blitz.

Weapons:
Leviathan Blade / Dark Briar Barrage [UV Fiend Low] [depending on the team]
Blitz Needle / Radiant Sun Shards [depending on the team]
Voltaic Tempest
Shivermist Buster [UV Undead Low]

If I am the only one carrying the shivermist, I'll go full bombs and leave the swords to the rest. If not, I'll equip the blitz and debate before the throne room who's freezelocking.
In the levels leading to Vana, I'll spam the VT and some DBB/RSS, interrupting fire breaths and generally keeping the slag walkers in check for the rest of the team to finish them off and then I'll keep Vanaduke frozen in the actual battle. It works pretty well I must admit, and I have more fun this way than running arround in full Vog slashing a DA. But I definitely prefer another one doing the freezing and me spamming blitz charges on the Duke. With the right team, we've done the boss fight in under 5 minutes, no deaths, and pills to spare in the end. Very satisfying indeed!
