I'm curious; have you ever been scammed? If so, what were you scammed of/how much?
I personally was scammed 7k crowns by some guy supposedly selling an arc razor (I was a noob and it sounded cool)

Those first two posts are not scams. You were overcharged, but the seller didn't lie to you about what deal was being made. That's just called a bad deal.

I've been sort of scammed...
The only time you could possibly consider me getting "scammed" was when I payed 500 crowns for 5 CE, because I was at exactly 395 energy and wanted my Vile Striker. Didn't seem that bad at the time, and I wuve my Vile Striker... so yeah.

I've been scammed, but not in Sk, I'm talking about like 10 years ago in a korean-style mmorpg of which I don't even remember the name ( legend of sim,mir,tir, or something like that, I really don't remember),someone was advertising selling his character for some in game currency, the new-to-the-internet me fell for it, he just logged out after I traded him the gold, never to be seen again :) that was the one and only time it ever happened, but served me well to learn the lesson.
side funny story: if anyone ever played UO, probably it's familiar with the "scam" of asking someone to trade you 10k more gold instead of a bank check, expecting the gold to drop to the ground upon refusing the trade if the gold weight would exceed what the victim could carry, well someone tried that with me, too bad I had SoSed and my strength was enough to have so much gold in my backpack <3, so it was like "derp u no scam me herp"

Sort of a reverse scam, but
when I was a newb on my first Knight ever, Clockworking with a friend... I was out of energy and i had an
IDIOT of a friend who thought 2k cr was a ton of cash. He traded me all of his energy( like 220 or something) for my 2.2k Crowns.

Someone was trying to scam me, but he couldn't type correctly or articulate his points, so I thought he was just dumb and ignored him... then I saw him talking to a newbie who was asking someone to sell her a 2 star helmet... I think he asked her for 600cr and then they went to the crafting machine in town square. That's when I got suspicious, since he'd been trying to get me to buy some 5* gun for like ridiculously cheap and no mention of unbinding fee, so I followed them over there just in time to see her yelling "HELP, I GOT SCAMMED" while he's disappearing XD
So I showed her how to file a report ticket and gave her 600cr even though she'd get it back from reporting (I think) because I felt bad that I hadn't realized he was trying to scam me in time to warn her XD Told her to be careful, etc. Guy comes back later and tells me he was just kidding and she was his friend, and she's still PMing me and says she's never seen him before lol...
As for overcharging, today, I was on my free account selling an Owlite Shield I crafted, and someone started a trade with me to buy it, and put it 2870cr... I told them that was way too much for a 2* Owlite Shield and I didn't want to rip them off XD

some guy asked me for 10kcrs and said he wud pay me back the next day.
the next day, he opened trade with me and i was happy coz im getting my hard earned crs back :)
he gave me 10 crs and walked away. i asked for the rest of my money and he said i only gave him 10, not 10k....then told every1 in the haven that i was a scammer. <>_<> WTF
another case: this idiot was selling 300CE for 9k a while back, since it was 7.5k for 100 at that time, i said yes and opened trade :)
i put in the 9k and he told me to click confirm. i said no, put in the CE first lol. he then proceeded to exit trade and call me a scammer <.<

When I started out...
I wanted to get a Cobalt helm. But then I found out I didn't have the energy.
Some guy said that he was impressed by my kindness after he saw me give some free materials to some other players, and offered to make the Cobalt Helm for me.
I traded him the materials, then he suddenly logged off.
All form of contact resulted in him logging off.
I can STILL remember his name. Tho it sounds like a girls name IMO....

In games I play I generally have a policy of earning the stuff I want thru 'traditional' means (in SK this would mean thru Basil, tokens, or AH), if I do consider a direct trade with a player I always check the going price at the AH before any sort of dealing and demand they put their offer on the table first so I can inspect it. If I'm selling something like material I check the going price on the AH to make sure I'm getting my money's worth in the deal. I never make deals that involve other people unbinding or crafting items for me.
I'm an awful target for scammers :P

I got scammed once, I was actually expecting to be but though what the hell. Someone was selling a calibur for 1000cr, when I said I would buy it, they said they needed the 200cr for crafting... I thought it was a scam, but decided I would play along as it was not much cr, I might be wrong, and they might be just new. As soon as the 200cr was handed over they did a runner, and logged off. I expect the transferred the money to their main, but filed a complaint anyway. Either way, it gave me 10 minutes entertainment as they tried to convince me they would not scam me, pretty good value for 200cr. Such as small amount to scam for! Only yesterday i gave a newbie an owlette shield and wolvercoat, which is far more (but still not much).

I have made several loans and not been paid back but generally i consider any loan as a gift and am pleasantly surprised if I get something back.
A more common issue i seem to have is asking people why they want to give me 25000 crowns in a trade window having completely forgot I gave them a recipe a few days before. I also dont make ingame trades that cant be completed in a single transaction.

I was once selling a sealed sword when a 3* guy said he wanted to buy it I said ok you have to pay for unbind first he said ok so he coughed up 600 ce and I said ok be right back gonna unbind he said ok so I unbound it and said ok here so we opened up trade and he clicked confirm I said you have to pay me 200 ce now he said why I already gave you 600 I said that was for unbind now to pay for the real thing he exited trade and started calling me a scammer so I guess I got 800 ce free once I sold it and he scammed himself I dont know I really dont get his logic

Interesting topic because i hardly ever hear of scams in Spiral knights. One of the reason why I like it spiral because I hate those losers.
yeah I got scammed - 2k ce for an owlite shield with MAX fire..
sounded like a good idea at the time.. didn't want anyone else getting a max for 2k ce..
kinda looks good in my collection but feel totally cheated.
