I've done a few Vanaduke runs with parties and I realized something, I'm more of a support in FSC than anything else. Yeah, if i'm careful I should be able to solo FSC but I won't be able to fight Vana if i'm alone because I have no weapons that can reach him (mostly concerned with the final phase). here's my equipment that i use:

Weapons:
Leviathan Blade (Bonus vs Fiend: Low)
Shivermist Buster (Damage Bonus vs Gremlin: Low)
Radiant Sun Shards (Damage Bonus vs Undead: Low)

Sheild
Dark Thorn or Grey Owlite (switch between them)

Armor
Volcanic Demo Helm (Shadow Defense Medium)
Volcanic Demo Suit

And here are some weapons that I have that will be useful in a Vana run.

Kilowatt pulsar (soon to be gigawatt)
Blizzbrand (Damage Bonus vs Fiend: Medium)
Master Blast Bomb
Sealed Sword (soon to be Avenger)
Antigua (soon to be Silversix)
Callahan
Graviton Bomb
Lightning capacitor (soon to be plasma)
Dark Thorn Blade

The current set I have now works very well (Shiver+Levi+zombies= carnage and RSS work just fine with or without shiver) blade but at times i feel like i'm being carried by the group. It seems that a sword-bomber is not a good combination for this. So i guess my question is "Should i invest in some other equipment just in case i am the last one alive or try FSC solo?"

If you ever feel the need to

If you ever feel the need to solo Vanaduke, make an Argent Peacemaker or Blitz Needle. If you get good with either of those, they make the Duke very doable alone.

Sun shards! I soloed Vana with them and Dark thorn blade's charge. +1h battle, but lots of fun. (some revs since i derp on fire)
But yeah, an antigua made my life easier.

You are a bomber. You are

You are a bomber. You are supposed to support. I'll take a bomber with a Shivermist over an extra Divine Avenger any day. You are more valuable to the party than you may think.

As for soloing the Duke, it is possible to take him down with RSS but that requires either a lot of time or serious movement manipulation (i.e. getting Duke to walk/dash onto the full blast of RSS). For new Duke soloists the best way to go is a Gigawatt Pulsar/Polaris. The shock effect keeps Duke in check and you can kite him around. Throw in your Shivermist and you should be able to do it (it might take a while). The first few tries might require revives, but that's part of the learning process.

Good luck!

A good bomber is worth his weight in crowns

Just that. With a Shivermist, Vanaduke is laughably easy. Without it... well he's tough. Doable but tough. I try to always have a bomber with us.

I'm not a bomber, but I do have a Shiver. I end up being the Silverlocker half the time, and when done right, Vana is much, much easier than without the Shiver. A support bomber is great in FSC (I also love to place Vortex strategically), but yes, soloing Vana as a pure bomber is quite hard. But then, soloing him with pure swords is also tough--most swordies switch to gunning Vana past phase 2 also. You can build up a gun (Blitz if you don't lag much and is good with the mace timing, AP for a safer solo) to hit 'im with when you're not Shivering. Blitz is also very good for Trojans.
