Client not running

I tried launching both from the web and offline. It downloads and loads everything, then the screen stutters black and the "Jave stopped working" message appears.
I have Windows 7 64 bit, latest version of java.

Potential solution
I was just working with a similar problem after switching to full screen. It crashed after switching tasks and then I would get that error every time I started the game again.
Solution that worked for me was changing it to run in windowed mode instead. For Windows that requires you to use the REGEDIT to change.
Warning: Please be careful with poking around in the Registry, you can cause permanent damage to your Windows system if you do anything other than listed here.
Run the Regedit.
Then find this path:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\projectx
Under here you'll find a value called "fullscreen", double click on it to edit it and change it from "true" to "false".
Try and start the game again now and see if that does it.
If anyone else had the same problem do mention it here. Looks like something we need to look into.

Are there any files named
Are there any files named hs_err_pid###.log in the game folder (where projectx.log was)? If so, please post the most recent one here.

I am having the same problem.
I am having the same problem. Mine says "Java SE Binary stopped working" and I too had switched it to fullscreen mode.

regedit chage worked for me,
regedit chage worked for me, but I find it weird, that it had run in fullscreen before just fine, and suddenly I started gettign the blackscreen

i used windows 7 and found it doesnt work with Vers: 1.6.0_22 so switch back to lower vers of java

It should run fine with Java
It should run fine with Java 1.6.0_22. If you decide to update it again then try and uninstall the game completely first (important to do) then reinstall it again from http://download.threerings.net/spiral/client/spiral-install.exe, and see if that does it.

Can you reply with a copy of your launcher.log and projectx.log files? They should be in the Spiral Knights installation directory. On windows 7 64-bit I believe that would be normally located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Three Rings Design\spiral\
