Why don't we have bright blues, greens and purples? Was this done intentionally to make the prismatic accessories that much more valuable?
What are so many accessories shades of grey and red?

It's so people compete to have the rarest and best looking gear. (And a bit of what Juances said)
A sense of style makes you look at them and think ("Wow that person is so good they can bother to spend crowns on stuff they don't need!" Or maybe "OH! AWESOME! I really want that ultra rare "regal side blade!" Or simply " That person is really good. No questions asked"").
Maybe, but also because something neutral fits more easily.
