Yeah, I know there are threads for this somewhere but I can't find the good one now.

I have a few software names, Xfire, Camtasia, Fraps, but I'm wondering if one works better with SK than others. No I am not on Steam.

I wonder which one Nicoya uses...

+1 to Fraps

I have only used Fraps since it was the first one I tried and it has never let me down. It works perfectly fine in SK for me :)

Never tried the others, but I've seen Fraps mentioned on pretty much all the gaming forums I'm a part of, so it can't be that bad... or so I think :3

I've never tried Xfire, but I have tried Camtasia and Hypercam 2; Fraps is the best by a long shot. Also, get Sony Vegas for rendering to keep things HQ.

um,

It only lets me record 30 sec with the free version. I can't use Fraps like that.

I use Dxtory. It's basically like Fraps, but with slightly better performance and with the ability to A: record multiple audio tracks and B: record multi-gig videos without splitting files (very important when using the lossless codec for recording). I record my voice separately from the game sounds then mix them together afterwards in vegas, and recompress with Xvid to make the files easier to upload.

Dxtory does cost money, but it's well worth spending the bucks on.

Dang

I'd rather not spend money, especially with all the hassle I've been going through today learning all about why each different app won't work for various reasons.

Apparently Wegame won't recognize SK as a game because SK is installed through Java somehow. That's the closest I've gotten.

Apparently the video capture

Apparently the video capture in MSI Afterburner isn't too shabby either. I've had the program installed for a while now but never used the video capture part. Multiple audio streams is listed as a coming soon feature. Also, it's completely free.

I've used FRAPS for a while, but having to move to another video every 4Gb of recording is annoying. Recording anything over a few minutes means multiple files.

The 4GB file

Is not a fault of FRAPS (per-say) but instead an issue with FAT32 partitions. Though, files larger then 4GB tend to be trouble no matter what you are using.

Unless I need to update my

Unless I need to update my copy of FRAPS (it has been a while) or there's a setting I'm missing it's not dependent on the filesystem. It's capped at 4Gb per file creation on a NTFS partition.

I've been looking for one

I've been looking for one too. I tried Afterburner just now and it works pretty well on Minecraft. One thing though, how can I adjust the audio? I'm not getting any audio recorded...

@Asthix You can try Dxtory

@Asthix You can try Dxtory for free, it just puts a giant blue banner on the video.

@Oceanprince It's actually a limitation in the VfW API. Programs that use their own AVI handling code don't have the limitation.

You know what the great Jim Dale uses?

Are you sure you want to know?

It contains ancient Dwenmer knowledge that burns retinas on sight.

Are you really sure?

Do you have a death wish?

Fine.

#15 Hypercam has the same

#15 Hypercam has the same problem. If you want to record anything better than 10FPS it will speed up the recording. I think it's something to do with the compression but I could be remembering incorrectly. Try googling for solutions.
