The story is pretty much this: some time ago i made a thread asking wich shield was the "best shield" (not especifically those two mentioned in the title), and ended up in a tie between the volcanic plate shield and the grey owlite shield. I am acctualy using a plate shield with low fire resistance UV, as for armor i'm using a dusker set by the moment, but i plan to upgrade it to the vog cub (and maybe, just maybe, the snarborlax set), and i recently traded a few (valuable) tf2 items for a leviathan blade with high gremiling damage UV, also a few pepole reccomended me the crest of almire, but.. wich shield is the best for me?

Preferably, you need a shield

Preferably, you need a shield for each damage, pierce, sahdow and elmental.
Or if you can survive and dodge properly, just stick with a Barbarous Thorn shield since it gives sword damage bonus.

yes, but

yes but i am looking for a shield for all situations, since i don't pay real money for CE (yep, i depend on the crown CE market or in trading metal for CE), so.. wich one is better for my situation?

Go swiftstrike if you can

Go swiftstrike if you can dodge.

has to be said

In case you're not aware, Zinco, you get Crest of Almire by beating Vanaduke at least 10 times. Or by spending insane amounts of money. So you might not want to plan on its being your first 5-star shield.

Based on your armor, you seem to be a swordsman, but you use Leviathan Blade (unusual for swordsmen) and some other weapon(s) that you haven't named yet. Barbarous Thorn Shield is certainly great for your swordy offense, although Grey Owlite Shield is better for defense.

Consider making one piece of Vog Cub and one piece of Skolver, instead of two pieces of Vog Cub, to have more balanced protection and more sword damage bonus.

Thanks

I never really tought of using a skolver/vog cub mix, sounds really good to me, also, since i only have the basic plate shield, changing to an owlite wouldn't make much of a loss of money, so, i'll be getting the grey owlite, and i use the levi for the all-around damage, so i don't need to worry about having a shatload of swords, and i am probaly going to get a DA (for a long time plan).

If you want one shield for

If you want one shield for everything, then Volcanic Plate is pretty much equally uninspiring anywhere (though the plate shields are pretty fantastic in gremlin areas like decon zones, or in the vanaduke fight). I personally use an ancient plate for my "misc" set, the one I use when I'm jumping into a random party or going danger room hunting, and my gremlin set, but the Volcanic is far superior for FSC and the Ironmight stacks a pile of pierce resist on top of the normal resist. Omega shell is also a decent normal-only shield, but it upgrades from a Drake Scale which is a spectacularly useless shield.

It used to be that elemental was the best shield to have because of the ubiquity of gun puppies, but since polyps and howlitzers were introduced this has become less of an advantage.

All that said, you're much better off having a trio of shields. I personally use Owlite-line for elemental and FSC, a snarby-line for piercing, and a skelly-line for shadow (though I'm tossing around the idea of switching to a Crust of Almire since I'm FSC farming now). I've also got a Scarlet and Swiftstrike for when I feel like messing around in T1 and T2. I don't really trust my dodging enough to use a swiftstrike in T3, but there are some people who do.
