I couldn't tell which one is the stack trace so I just posted both "stacks".

@Everyone else. Basically everytime I try to run Spiral Knights steam version with steam in-game community enabled I get a java(TM) platform error. Which is bad because I need steam in-game in order to purchase energy. :x

I need the log from the top

I need the log from the top down "to" the stack trace. Or upload the whole thing to pastebin.com and give the link.

Disable the OSD on your GPU

Disable the OSD on your GPU monitoring program. If its MSI afterburner, there should be an option for Stealth mode, that;ll work too.

I can't without knowing what

I can't without knowing what programs your using. The overlay itself is crashing, and its usually caused by a driver problem or something else is already hooked in and blocking it.

Sorry, I'm not computer savvy so I have no idea where to find my monitoring program or anything. Would it help if I give my computer specs and driver information because I'm honestly feeling very confused. @_@;

edit: also I'm not on the computer much on weekends so my responses may lag.

Actually... when was the last time you updated the drivers?

Windows doesn't

Windows doesn't automatically, and any of the ones included in the manual update list tend to be months (years) old by the time they are published. At the very least you want to get your video drivers updated with the latest version from designer's website (Nvidia, AMD or Intel).

I went to intel and selected my specific driver and it said that it was up to date. I also recovered my laptop and downloaded steam and SK which was able to run the overlay on SK just fine, but I still want to fix the problem on this computer specifically.

In the Steam folder theres a

In the Steam folder theres a GameOverlayRenderer.log file, I'll need that. I'll also need you to run "System Information" utility and do a File, Export, and do another pastebin with that.

As for the System Information, it's too big to upload on pastebin entirely. Can I cut and paste a specific portion of it or just upload the text file instead?

Split it up if you need to.

Split it up if you need to. It looks like the overlay might be having a problem with a device, but the ID number its showing doesn't show up in Google.

Going through the first link

Going through the first link so far, there's one thing that stands out for me:

You are using the Intel GMA 3100 for graphics, and it's running on out of date OEM drivers. The current driver shows a 2008 publish date when Intel published the final version in 2009 before declaring end-of-life for support.

Use these instructions and this driver download to try and update your computer.

That might also explain why Stalinvf can't find the device ID number, it might be showing up as an internal OEM value.

I installed the new driver but it didn't change anything when I tried running Spiral Knights with steam overlay.

Does this thing have a touch

Does this thing have a touch screen or non-mouse controller?

Also noticed you have MSI afterburner installed. The OSD function might be interfering with Steam's overlay, so thats worth checking out as well.

I would also recommend doing a general clean up of the install programs. The running processes are a bit of a mess, and I noticed a few things you shouldn't be running *hint hint*.

I installed MSI afterburner after you mentioned it but every time I click it, it says Failed to initialized display wrapper. So I figured might as well leave it alone since it's definitely not going to help if it doesn't work.

As for non mouse controllers, I have a gamepad but I don't believe I installed it on this computer yet. I'm pretty sure to be honest. And as for touchscreens, I have a tablet installed but that doesn't seem like it should interfere with anything.

Anyways I'll try cleaning up my process list but I think I remember reading somewhere that if you delete the wrong processes you can seriously screw up your computer or something. :x
